Draginol, there are places inthe United States where the KKK does indeed have the support of the local populace and the local law enforcement. Cheers

11. should add the modifier, "at present". That may seem small, but the constitution does not establish the number of supreme court justices. 20.'s answer should be the Senate and not Congress, Just try and see the House declare war. 6. should be Great Britain Sorry to nitpick, it's the professor in me. Cheers

I'm sorry, Ignorance, but your name sums it up. The indications that Kerry might decline the nomination was a "Rumor". Sure it was probably put out to test the waters. Further, your statement sounds as if you were disagreeing with my point and then offer a definition of a national political convention that a 3 year old should know. I was responding to the question asking why the democrats should have a convention at all. Cheers</fo

Off subject slightly, but I heard something that was so true I had to share it because I was laughing so hard: "I used to think the universe should be fair, and then it occured to me what an aweful thing it would be if everyone truely deserved the horrible things that happened to them, so now I rejoice in the unfairness of it all." Cheers

The United States was founded by acts of "Terrorism". The rebels destroyed personal property, attacked soldiers of the "peacekeeping" force sent in by the world's superpower. They executed law abiding citizens. Just so that everything can be put into a certain perspective. Cheers

The main impedament to black progress is a lack of stong familys. How about guns in the hands of minors, that's a pretty major impediment to african american progress. Or substandard housing, schools, social services, etc. Or what about racist law enforcement? A majority of LAPD are white, and a majo

you are not incorrect Greywar, I was refering to states of emergency and the like. For other events, the Press secretary requests and the networks typically oblige. Since Fox News is the only Channel dubya watches, that's his own admission, maybe it was a private heads up to Fox News and not some slight by the networks. Cheers

"When your neighbor's house is on fire you don't argue over the price of the hose" Franklin Roosevelt. Saiyan, we give money to other countries because they are required to hire American companies to build things. We don't hand them a bag full of cash and say have fun, we hand them a credit line for American companies. The American government gives money to, say, the Mexican government and the M

If you are a democrat, you have to be wondering WHY you are really even having a convention this year? Wouldn't it be a better question to ask why the republicans are having a convention? After all, the democrats actually had people running against Kerry. Cheers

Dharma, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you spend more than a certain amount of time per year, and make a certain amount of your income outside of the UK you don't have to pay taxes back home. Since I can almost guarantee your tax rate in the UK is higher than whatever tax rate you pay here, isn't it good enough that we're giving you a tax break? The rules could have changed since I last had to deal with it, two decades ago I had a client who

Anybody know the figures on reelections for democrat v. republican canidates? As a sidebar, the only president to serve more than two terms was a democrat. 17 presidents were democrats 18 presidents were republicans 10 democratic presidents served two or more terms 6 republican presidents served two terms Historically speaking do people prefer Republicans over democrats? Well, it could be said that people prefer the

Just as another point of order. When I worked for a prestigious law firm which I won't say the name of here, I made $400,000 a year. Good money for someone in their mid to late 20s. At that wage I paid 27 times the national average in taxes. The reason I'm not a republican is because I was happy to pay it. My children went to good schools, the roads were good, etc. Now I'm a professor, and make considerably less. Oregon's schools have degraded,

Actually, the "networks" are only required to air certain comments of the president. Usually they do whether they have to or not, if they didn't then something was up. By the by, Fox, except the news channel, rarely airs political events. I didn't see the presidential address, I didn't even know about it, so it's possible it was big enough for anyone to care. Cheers

Just as a point of order. A canidate has a certain deadline to accept a nomination before the general election. Everything else is just fluff. Though as an interesting point. If Kerry does reject the nomination at first, even temporarily, the delegates could choose someone else. That's just as likely as the Electoral College voting for someone else, but it could happen. Cheers

Smartaz, the idea of Kerry's ads is to appeal to undecideds and independents, something you are clearly not. People do love lawyers, when they're prosecutors. DAs rarely lose races, unless they have a tendency to lose. Give us all a break. Cheers

The only JEEP I know about is the car and it got it's name as a corruption of GP, General Purpose. Greywar, one could argue, and people have, that the Thugs in today's society tend to enlist anyway, it gives them an outlet for their aggression, besides, military discipline is supposed to cure them of the desire to go off and shoot everything in sight. Cheers
