I tend to prefer Neutral. The extra trade routes are really nice, and being in the middle is pretty good for relations with the other civs.

I don't think that words can express how much I have wanted a game like this to be made. Did I ever mention that I love you guys, because Stardock really rocks.
Also, ships from previous patches won't be displayed. The ship save file format was changed a bit this time around.
Oooo.... where's the model from? Don't really know the answer to your question, sorry.
I have found that the AI can at times be paranoid. In my last game, I had three different races give me the whole "I know what you're doing" speach during a war with a fourth race. It's kind of funny, though. I probably would have left them alone normally, but they got on my nerves enough that I decided to go ahead and conquer them.
At most, I'd say that the AI needs to do a better job of targetting mining starbases when they are at war. Then again, I'm still at normal, so I don't know if the AI does this on intelligent.
I really liked the intro movie. Tthe others are pretty good, but nothing really outstanding.
You can definitely do it in a custom map. I think it is possible to do for normal games as well, but I'd have to doublecheck on it.
I might be wrong about this, but I think that some of the influence starbase spamming might be for the purpose of increasing range.
The forum isn't letting me go back and edit, so here is a working link. Link
I have a fairly rough verion completed. It can be downloaded from Link . It's kind of bare bones right now, and I definitely plan to improve on it, but I'd like to get some feedback first. BTW, the source code is at Link
Ok, I'm pretty much done with an initial working version. Does anyone know a good place where I can put it up online?
I don't think AI modding is going to make it into the game. From my understanding of things, each AI is its own class running in its own thread.
I suggest sticking fleets around it on "Guard" or "Sentry" to keep it from being harassed while it heals. Do they actually do anything on starbases? On ships, they just have the ships wait until something comes within sensor range.
I've started to work on putting one together. So far, I have the data structures and save/load mostly written and tested, but no actual gui done for it. Does anyone know the syntax for anomalies, homeless races, or ships in the map files? I didn't see examples for those in the custom maps. At the moment, I seem to be able to load up a map and save it back into another file without messing up any of the data, so I think that everything is pretty good on that front.
What do you use the other two buttons for? Seems like overkill to me.
Morale's pretty good for a pop that size. I guess they must be stacked on top of each other in a very comfortable fashion.
Yep, its spin control
You make 1 factory, which cuts the build time in half to make your research labs, then you delete the factory and build your last lab. Isn't that going to make upgrading the labs dificult?
You are going to want to start with Raceconfig.xml. It has the names of the logo files and portraits. If you want to change dialog, it is found inGC2_Conversations.xml.
1- I'm pretty sure that rush buys don't show up when you do it in one lump sum. At any rate, mine have never shown up in the end game screen. 3- I've definitely seen them adapt. In my last game(normal), all of the AI players were using beams, so a couple started learning missle. By the end of the game, they were just starting to field basic mass drivers on their ships. 4- I'm not sure. I've only noticed it happen in war, but that really doesn't mean all that much.
This post scared me. I had to read it three times to figure out what in the fuck he was talking about. Agreed. Seriously, Chiggavelli, slow down a bit when you post. It will make things easier for everyone involved.
You ought to have just saved the game and let it play out.
I've only been playing on normal so far, but from my experience the AI usually has at least a few ships guarding every transport. That said, they are only small, weak ships that are easy to take out, but it does provide at least a little protection. I think that it would help if the AI actually used sensor ships. That way they would be able to move transports to a safer location when there is danger.
2. The Altarians are hippies. Their thing seems to be tree hugging, and getting others to hug trees with them. influence is their game. I cant stand being next to the Altarians.. they are the nosey neighbors of the universe. Always poking their influence starbases in my territory..and parking their ships right inside my borde
