Maybe this is a design decision and maybe I am missing something: I meet a new kind of monster I am not familiar with, and the mouseover shows the name of the monster, hit points, attack, and defense. But other key attributes are in icon form, so unless I memorize icons, I do not know important things about the monster's abilities. Is this really intended? (I'm a text guy -- avoid icons everywhere)

Enjoying this very much but two things: 1) On the tactical map, I find that enemies end up off the edge of the map, and there is no obvious way to scroll the map to get to them. The usual scrolling works fine on the strategic map. 2) Try as I might, I cannot get used to the methods of letting me know that construction is complete and the queue is empty. Neither the sound nor the graphic is very attention grabbing.

The new 9 tile limit combined with a tendency to start competitors too close together means that, by turn 2, the original starting location is no longer a legal site for a city! I doubt this is as intended. (This was a medium map, default number of players)

If these conditions were

Several have posted that maul is overpowered, and I agree completely. It is easy to acquire these weapons, and, once you do, you pretty much own everything that does not have a very high dodge rating. My suggestion would be to make maul come with a penalty. This is supposed to be a form of going berserk, right? Well, how about maul including a loss of control over where the hero goes and who the hero attacks? I think it would ruin maul completely if there were

It seems to me that, in the normal course of playing, heroes become extremely powerful while techs, magic, and city builds are still in their infancy. This is partly the speed with which levels are achieved. It's great that a couple levels or so come quickly, but it seems to me that even weak heroes who get a couple +1 damages in during a battle level up after two out of three battles. (Besides which, leveling seems to be very well designed in this game, but it cheapen

[quote who="Publius of NV" reply="4" id="2756781"] You refer to C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Elemental as the "default install directory." However, when I downloaded from Impulse, I never had a chance to install elsewhere. Is there any way this can be done? (My C drive is small, meant just for the OS) If you click on the upper left icon in Impulse to pull down a list of options, you can select "Preferences". This will open a window called "Impulse Settings", a

Is this working properly. I go in and try to generate large maps with one continent, but I keep getting a bunch of dinky little islands -- but maybe I am missing something.

When champions level up, I am getting the wrong cursor (it's the one used to move units during combat) and it is very difficult to get this cursor to work to make a selection which attribute to raise. Like 5 minutes of fiddling with no way out of the screen. Anyone else having this problem? (I'm using XP) Also, is there a centralized place for reporting bugs like this?

Americans are so uninformed on this issue that it totally depends on the wording of the question. Unfortunately quite true. Those of us who read blogs and detailed magazine articles have a pretty good grasp of the issue (I say only "pretty" good because, as the man said, the devil is in the details, and

Since the thread was so clearly addressed to me, I had to drop in and read. Your test did not do well identifying me -- although I truly do not know any NASCAR drivers, and suspect that Dan Rather did get a bad deal. As the doctors say, I think this test produced a false negative. Maybe I should beg partial credit for agreeing with some of those statements followed b

I think what we have here is a fundamental conflict of values, and freedom of religion is only a tangent. On one hand, we have a traditional view that education should be as broad and deep -- and as widely spread as possible through the population -- as possible. The more people know about the past and the present, our country and the world, the better people live, and the better a democratic society functions. Such people believe in foreign

Is the school publically funded in any way? If so, then to allow them to promote any religious beliefs, even in the guise of education, is intolerable. Please! Teachers (secondary or college) can assign readings from The Bible, and I, for one, do so. Students would often have a good case for objecting

Great article!!! I agree with most and respect the rest as an honest and well-thought-out viewpoint. I think you have it exactly right here: I don't think anyone should get a "free ride," but America's children also should not suffer and pay the price for their parent's poor choices. and here
