You must put the LINK to wether.com but hot the TWC Copypight! Otherwise you must be the TWC employee and they must pay money for your work.
That's not at all what's explained in the "TWCi XML Data Feed Licence Agreement.pdf" notice. Here's the part concerning the Logo & weather.com and usage of the symbol © (see examples given [e digicons][/e] ) <a href="http://www.hiboox.fr/go/images/informatique/weather

You may not put the TWC Copyright on your own widget without their permission.
[e digicons]:O[/e] i thought it was one of the rules conditions BTW, i've send a mail to them explaining the global situation of skinners doing weather widgets with DesktopX application ( [e digicons];P[/e] ) and ask them who must
well, the link target indicates the same thing but accessing the links from "my digital life" directs me to a free corel "mediaone" product. either out of date or bait and switch???
Strange, i've verified the link given a few minutes ago (well when posting) and it was the correct link, not a link to the "mediaone" product [e digicons]:(O[/e] EDIT: i confirm the link to get the french Paint Shop Pro X had also been erased
So you can imagine my surprise to read on Rainmeter that AccuWeather is providing this access to Rainmeter for free AND advertising Rainmeter at AccuWeather's site!
I didn't see in the TWC licensing terms of use ANYTHING speaking about cost, which for me means licence is FREE [e digicons]:-"[/e]

Problem seems to be (nearlly) fixed with latest WindowBlinds 7 beta version from 7/20/09 When System is running, changing skin display correctly the google button (well as a rectangle button and without the ugly things), but when restarting PC, the skin need to be re-loaded once to give a good result [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e]
And here's THE solution to keep using weather.com (well at least to keep widgets OK) but without having to get any Partner ID and License Key - Load DesktopX Builder - Before importing your widget, disconnect from/turn off the internet (unplug cable, etc.) - R-click on the DX Builder icon in your system tray and Import your widget - R-click on the DX Builder icon and choose List Objects <br
actually....Al Gore should be the TWC affiliate.....he invented the internet and Stardock's just an intemediary between the internet (Al Gore) and the end user......
What i mean is that license is necessary / obligatory when : 1°) you want to use the WTC service on a website 2°) when you purpose " Drive downloads of your product through consumers installing The Weather Channel's downloadable products " As the prod

Sorry to bring it back on stage but i've read again the WTC terms of use and things seems simple to me 1°) it's Stardock which should be THE Affiliated WTC partner because of purposing their widgets done with DesktopX, and not to skinners which are just an intermediary between Stardock and end-user (end-user which has not to register in any case by definition) 2°) Registration is free (as nothing indicates the opposite ) 3°) source: <a href="https
Or a 3rd choice would be, if you are good with DX, just go into builder mode and delete the weather parts, all of them, then your themes will run. But you must load DX with you internet connection turned off so you don't get the errors. After removal of weather parts, you can reconnect.
No need [e digicons]:omg:[/e] , just have to change "xoap" by "xml"
Ok.....Here is a question to be answered. What if developers put in weather widgets, but have them disabled by default? One could download the theme or widget, enable the script on their own and add the proper link to weather.com or whoever. By doing so, no developer or Wincustomize or Stardock would be in violation of any terms. It would be up to the end user to add the proper lines to the script to get it to work (Thus they could get a license from TWC or whoeve
neophil78: Using weather.com feed is not "free", you have to show promotional links and the TWC logo. Getting a redistributable license which would bypass the promo links/update interval restrictions is probably going to cost Stardock a lot of money (which they will have to get somewhere), if it's even available to third parties.
Well, though it might be to know how much it will cost
Note that getting a license for your company allowing you to redistribu
It's always easy when people do things FOR you
I say it again, it would be much more simple if Stardock would obtain a license / permission from WTC which can be used by all skinners, than if each skinner has to do it (it would be a step in the right direction) especially, if license / permission is free as it seems to be [e digicons][/e] Why turning the problem in every way, searching other solutions using other weather services when e
not really.. a template does not automatically makke all weather widgets the responsibililty of Stardock Stardock did not create all those weather widgets Stardock created the tools to make widgets
Sure, but it would be much more simple for everyone (mean skinners) if Stardock would get the permission / license [e digicons];P[/e]
