The suite has been update to version 1.4. Get it at http://graphix.galciv.org/ Only the sprite editor has changed. The was a bug which prevented you from saving SS.SPR1 from startscreen.mtd. For those wondering, it's not added support for 16 bit sprites. I've just fixed a special case of file that happens only in that file. I had thought I'd had taken care of it but since I never tested it before, it was buggy. I'd like to thank Martin Dobias for pointing that one out

It worked perfectly for me. Here's how I did it : 1-I opened an image and went into Image->Decrease Color Depth. I picked 256 colors(8 BPP) and I checked Floyd-Steinberd dithering. 2-After that, Image->Palette->Export Palette and I saved it as a .PAL file. 3- I opened the Palette Editor and create a new .PAL_ file with File->New. I used the setting "Import a .pal file ..." and browsed for the .PAL file I create in IrfanView. I clicked ok and it gave me the same colors

Great work on the background. Btw, did you know that you can create animated backgrounds if you change the name correctly? Also, you don't have to use one that has the same size except if you want it to work in the mod folders and I'm not even sure there.

Yeah, I'll look into it when I can. I'm kind of surprised but I've had much, much more free time during my last university semester than this summer O_o.

There's a MLD editor among other in this software package : http://graphix.galciv.org/ The model refer to a sprite file inside a MDL file. So you need to create a new sprite file to do it.

Open .ship files with a text editor if you want to have a better idea of how to create new ships. Renaming them won't do much since they contain multiple ships.

I'm curious, how did you create the quasar animation? I plan to add video import when I have some free time but it seemed way to painful to me any other way.

I've been working a bit on a minor race gfx. The ships look really cool IMHO and it took me less than 10 mins to create my first ship. I'm guessing it'll be faster once I get the hang out of it. The ships 3d models come from a Total Conversion for Total Annihilation made by a friend of mine. There's a link to it on my website. http://graphix.galciv.org/help/images/Minor%20Race/MinorRace1.jpg Ah yes btw, how do you insert graphics in a post? I've seen some people do it, I just d

I've managed to find some free time much to my surprise, so there's a new version out. It fixes all the bugs that were reported to me so far. I also have a new host provided by Alex Robertson aka Primipilus Alexus from galciv.org. The new url for the website is : http://graphix.galciv.org/. Fixed : -Save bug on new sprites -Font editing now work -WinPack has been updated. Minor display bug with archive files that happened only once. I suspect the file was corrupted in some

Ah yes I see what you mean. It's actualy rather embarassing. I never did play around too much with a fully new sprite, I edited existing ones rather. I just noticed that there's a couple of save problems, sorry about that! I'm getting on it right now, shouldn't take too long.

Mmm took me a while to realise .fnt files were galciv archives. I just assumed they were the good ole .fnt font files. Anyway, I tried it and you're right the sprite editor seems to be completly unable to load them. I'll look into it once my finals are over. If you really want to edit them in the meantime, you can try Mutil.

When you click on Save after creating the sprite, doesn't it bring up the save as menu? If that's what you meant by "save as" being the only option, I did it on purpose. The editor doesn't have a file name and directory yet for the new sprite you created so the first time you save it, it ask for the the name and location of the file.

1) The special menu is to create a new sequence in the sprite, not a new sprite. So it's normal that you can't create a sequence without having an active sprite. 2) How are you saving? I mean I just tried save under various conditions and it works fine for me. Can you tell me a bit more precisely what you're doing so that I can have an idea of how to reproduce it?
