It was easy, offset 0x44 in Player.civ0. It's an unsigned long (4 byte). It might be larger, I didnt try and it should be enough money for any need you could have :P. [Message Edited]

I never had checksums problem when I tried hacking some stuff for planets. I'll look into the cash tonight.
Wouldn't you be able to hack the .exe to give you more than 10 points? It's not my area of expertise sadly, so someone else will have to look into it.
Ah yes, I forgot, if you want to edit your planets with a hex editor, here's the file format for the planets : http://visual-ta.tauniverse.com/Downloads/GalCiv/gc-planets.galaxy-fmt.txt It's pretty easy really and you can go up in the 4 millions PQ.
Well there's no way to do it unless you hex edit the save files. It's my next project after the mtd editor but I'm starting to wonder if I just should'nt stop working on it and get working on the scenario editor.
Btw, is there a tool to administrate mods yet? Or a kind of conflict crusher to make sure ID are continuous or things like that.
To transform an image into a 256 colors pcx with the latest version of JASC : Image->Decrease Color Depth->256 colors (8 bit) Now you just save it as a pcx and it should work.
You can access them, via the links Littleboy gave. Thing is, the board cuts url with spaces in them, so you have to use the url in the link + the text that's next to it.
Re reading the thread, I realise I forgot to mention that I loved the red ships. So there, I love them! ^_^
Mmmm I discovered a couple more things, lot's of the pixel stuff hacked too. I'm going to try to find out the rest as I write a framework to read and write the MTD files plus the SPR1 and PAL_. If you want more infos, just keep checking the website. I'm uploading a new version of the docs pretty often when I'm working on them. Oh yeah and my website URL changed, it's a subdomain now, the new url is : Visual Designs : http://visual-ta.tauniverse.com/ For the file formats : http://vis
Well it's done, you can download the version 1.0.1. The option for enabling the alpha mask generation is in Settings->Save Settings.
Already updated to version 1.0.1 . I had a request for having the option to output the resulting alpha mask too, so I added it.
Yeah sure, I had thought of it but I decided it was pretty useless considering PSP or photoshop could do it easily. Paint Shop Pro has a 60 days free trial, if you have broadband it's nice to have. Anyway, I hadn't thought of MS-Paint users so yes I'll add it. Btw, if you hadn't noticed the thread in the forum, my website is back up, here's the url : http://visual-ta.tauniverse.com/
Here's the link to it : http://visual-ta.tauniverse.com/HTML/index.html Interesting features include : Accept JPEG, PNG, TGA, PCX and BMP files as input Output the result to PNG, TGA, PCX and BMP. Background color auto detection for filling the spaces left by the rotation. Of course you can still set a color of your choice. Remembers your settings for directory, frame number and save options. Like the SF util, you can also set the number of f
Ship rotator. It's has a couple of nice features : Accept JPEG, PNG, TGA, PCX and BMP files as input. Output the result to PNG, TGA, PCX and BMP. Background color auto detection for filling the spaces left by the rotation. Of course you can still set a color of your choice. Like the SF util, you can also set the number of frames for your animations. etc Website is still down ;(.
Well I finished it right now. There's one little problem : the server where my website is seems to be having technical difficulties. Lots of hosted sites arent working etc. I'm going to look for somewhere else to post it if the issue isnt resolved soon.
Well only the last one is valid. As I said in the last post, I changed the file names.
What do you mean multiple images files? You mean for animated ships?
I might take it, but I'm going to finish that ship rotator first and then write utils for editing the MTD archives and SPR1 files. I'd have finished the ship rotator tonight but it's a special holiday where I live today. Happy Saint-Jean!
Well you're one step ahead then ^_^. I mean I only looked at them for an hour or two but I couldnt find the stars positions. I assumed that it was in stars.galaxy (the planet positions) but I'm starting to wonder. I'm going to write down what I found right now. I was going to do it when I made that first post but I got sidetracked with the ship rotator ^_^.
Well alright then, I'll put up the savegames fileformat on my website. Visual Designs : http://www.tauniverse.com/visual-ta/
Hey Thrull, if the ship rotator sucks so much, it should be fairly trivial for me to do a better one. I'll cobble together something tonight.
I changed the location of the file to http://www.tauniverse.com/visual-ta/HTML/GalCivFormats.html . I've also broken it down into multiple files for the simple reason that MTD is an archive format for various files and SPR1 and PAL_ just happen to be file formats archived into it. In theory, you could put anything into it. [Message Edited]
Thanks, wouldnt help thought. The name is in plain text so that's easy and I imagine the money is really obvious too, I just didnt think of looking into it yet. I'm orienting my search more into editing the star type and coordinates, planet stats etc. I think I just need to find the x y coordinates of the stars now and you'd be able to generate a map via an editor.
If anyone's interested I started working on the saved game files to change my mind. Found out a couple of interesting stuff : http://www.tauniverse.com/visual-ta/Graphics/GalCiv/SolScreen.png There's quite a lot of files but hopefuly a galaxy editor for planets and stars doesnt look too hard. I'm just waiting to know if they've got some anti cheat measures built into the metaverse before releasing it. I wouldnt want to ruin it for other peoples. CariElf, FrogBoy?
