hehe, yeah, that damn cab fee. As for knowing about the job, I just asked around the channel, talked to Brad, and he gave me an e-mail address to mail my resume to, in case anything opened up. A few weeks later, I was contacted, and that's all there is to that...

So, as some of you may have heard from Stardock's IRC channel, I recently applied for a job at Stardock as a programmer. This is my story of the process, from the moment I woke up, to the moment I got back from the interview. Full names will not be given away, in order to protect the innocent. Their home addresses and cell phone numbers will be posted, along with thei

Yeah, it's always fun reading one of your posts Larry, you're an optimistic/energetic guy and a good writer, which really shows in what you write. Plus you're just a cool guy. Now, blog more, because I know where you work, and will hunt you down if you don't. :)

My biological dad has always been a big drinker. Which is part of the reason I really dislike drinking now (which, if you think about it, is kind of radical deperature over a short period of time).

Having just read Dan Kaschel's article of the same name , I figured it's about time I do the same thing he did, and share my first drinking experience (though, unlike Dan, my experience was about 3 months ago, as compared to his being a few days ago). It was a very pleasant Saturday night here at the Unive

Alright, since my blog topics have been completely varied lately, and since I have a lot to discuss in the weeks to follow, I figured I'd do a "status update" entry... Something I haven't done in months (definately not since my time at JoeUser). So, on a positive side, my time at JoeUser has provided me with two new jobs (or attempts at a job): 1) FileFront has just hired me as a reviewer for t

Just got this e-mail forwarded to me by a friend: This message goes out to Trent Polack, the author of "3d terrain programming", i could not seem to find a way to contact him, but i felt i had to speak... I am currently a high school student, i am the webmaster for my schools award winning website (***********.org), and lead programmer for our robotics team

Between this article and your "Personal Hang-Ups" article, I'm starting to get the feeling we have similar views on the things that happen to us. I had a very rough childhood, and after the age of 13-14, I started to get very sick. For two or three years, I was hardly able to eat anything (getting used to a bad case of GERD really is tough, especially at that age), and have had chronic headaches since I was 8 or 9. That's just my physical problems, I

Thanks a lot, nice to know you liked it. There are a lot of cool things I could say about the game in the review that I didn't, but I really didn't want to ruin the story for anyone... Because there are some rather surprising elements to it.

Well, after a solid 24 hours of absolutely no sleep, I watched all by two episodes of Smallville - Season 2. I waited until my friends caught up to me after the first 21 episodes in the season though, so that we could all watch the finale together. And, having just finished watching the Season 2 finale, I must say: do *not* watch the season finale until you have the first episode of Season 3 li

I experienced the same thing when I was beta-testing the Warcraft III: Frozen Throne expansion pack. The beta-testers are, as a rule, VERY nice people. Then the second the game went gold, and eventually was released in stores, there came a huge flood of assholes. It's a nice hope that the WoW community will stay as friendly as I've seen it so far (I've been watching a friend play all night), but these are beta-testers. These aren't guys interested in p

I had a friend that got a copy of the gold version for review purposes. I decided to use it for review purposes as well. :) I have it on pre-order now. :D

Is anyone else having problems with the little box that usually displays user points/site information? Occasionally, when I load Joeuser, the little box attempts to load another instance of Joeuser, instead of my user stats. I can't figure out why it might be doing this, as it happens pretty sporadically.

I was one of the guys that gave into the game's hype and figured it was going to be the best thing since marshmellow peeps. I just figured the game was going to revolutionize FPS-gameplay. That was, of course, until I played the demos released by CryTek/Ubisoft. The Farcry demo(s) were so bad that they made me vow that I'd never play the game again. Ever. The demo was just so bug-ridden, sluggish (the graphics were FAR from optimized), the difficulty had obviously not been play-bal

There are two things that should never be brought up on a first date: politics and religion. So writing an essay on religion for a Political Science class is definitely not first-date material. Anyhoo, this essay has two primary goals: discussing what the Constitution establishes about religion in America, and then my views on religion in America, specifically relating to the separation between church and sta
