Cheat Keys? in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I have a question: Why is there an option in the in-game options menu to "Enable Cheat Keys." I haven't played this game in awhile(4-5 mos., I think). In the meantime, I upgraded my OS and was forced to reinstall GalCiv. At the same time, I downloaded and installed the new expansion pack.
