Ahh, just finished playing my first custom map... quite amusing how having our fleets around each others planets tends to cause wars. LOL A custom map has lots of wierd things wrong with it, so folks submitting bugs using a custom map should warn about that. Also, I think games with custom maps, like Scenarios, should require some kind of approval to be allowed for a Metaverse submission. Along the way, I made these notes: Map Editor: The Randomize Star/plane

The Current Victory Status in the Options menu should list whether Alien Tech Victory is on or off. I just realized in my most recent game that if it was on, I was probably going to lose. The Treaties window is not necessarily accurate -- I think something like this has been mentioned, if not I can keep an eye out for it happening again and save it. The Treaties window told me the Torians and Arceans were at war, but their ships didn't seem to be fighting, and I was able to ask the To

Well, I just submitted an Obscene Gigantic game where I retired -- having realized I was going to lose to the "Alien tech victory" -- and it netted me 9k points. :SURPRISED: Before: rank 219 score 60712 After: rank 186 score 69444 The game itself was scored 3275. So if you are tired with getting 1k, just try losing! LOL ~SDC~

Exactly, alien anthropologists studying the strange primitives. So when we do blow ourselves up, the conservationists will come in a save a few for their zoos... ~SDC~

Map editor bugs: When I full screen the app, there's a pixel wide border around the map that is not painted by any of the Objects, so I see wierd junk from behind. I'm in 1028x768. If I resize instead, when I get to about 75% of screen, I see the artifact appear. If I double click on a map file, it properly starts up the editor, but the editor ignores the input. The exe file turns into an MFC icon... ;) Actually, I like it too for quick 'n dirty programming muhah

Oops, forgot to beg for a few more impossibles. I'd like to be able to import a smaller map into a larger map, for continuity. Even better, if we could import a part of the smaller map. For example, put the east half of a tiny map in one corner of a medium map. :d I think the toolbars should be horizontal along the top, and shrink the images a bit. Let the Tab key switch between Star, Resource, and Ship mode. Let the number keys select empire: 1 = ickly Hoomans, 2 = jolly

See if you can deduce the nature of my campaign. :D Overall, I think to pull most of these off, the scenario and map editors may need to be combined. I like the idea of scenarios that don't require a specific map, but many attempts to create a story will require some influence on the map. I expect 90% of this to be completely unworkable, but it really depends on what's already there in GalCiv to hook on to. 1) Temporal/locational/tech/situational triggers. Combinations of

I finally have a saved game proof of Auto-Survey/anomalies going poof. Let me know if you want it, gracious CariElf. At the time of the save, my Survey ship is heading for an anomaly. Hit next turn, and it switches to a differen, distant anomaly. Interestingly, if I force the ship to survey it, the anomaly turns up empty. Also, if I play the turn normally, instead of just hitting space to skip through all my ships, the anomaly will disappear! :CONGRAT: Woot, I'm not hallucinating! <

Duh, didn't you read what the great Sollog said about the WTC UFO? They're visitors from the future trying to warn us of the imminent NUKE TERRORISM that only Sollog can save us from! But first, George Bush must appologize for the indifference... I mean... persecution of the US government, and then the great Soggy will come out of hiding, and guide us all through the pitfalls of the future! And thus, you see how the mystical circle is completed, and we return to the very topic we star

Found a couple techs in the Tech-Tree Viewer that do cannot be completely scrolled through: Artifical Planets and The Dark Side. Also, the Excalibur tech has no description. The Range racial ability is "+10 percent" whereas everything else is something like "+10 %" -- it's such a rebel! ;p ~SDC~

triggers are currently limited to: someone dies --> you win/lose someone feels a particular way about you (hates you/loves you) --> you win/lose someone owns a particular star --> win/lose not included, but muchly desired 8-) are triggers for events -- for example, time/location events to push a story... Heck, I've got a whole list of fun things I'd like to be able to do for the story part :) ~SDC~

My spies stole a tech today! :CONGRAT: I've never seen that before, is it new? I about fell out of my chair when I saw it LOL Is there a seperate thread for the map/scenario/campaign editors? I'm gonna mess around with those next, and see how far I can go. :d I think auto-survey is fine, and I'm a nerfherder. :notsure: There are 2 more Survey ships running around, and they're starting closer to me. Doh! I had a Terror Star lose its movement ab

ok, I will go in to too much detail ;p When you click on a Rally point, you go into the "Set Rally Point Information" window. As an example, if the Rally point is in sector 0,2, it will say: Sector 0,2U se the below fields to to name this rally point and set an course of action once the point is reached. Rally Point 0 Normal: Set this as an autopilot destination. AutoFleet: Form a fleet here. AutoAttack: Engage enemy vessels on

Cari Rules! More oddities... 1) Auto Survey is not quite working. Only seems to be able to target anomalies visible -- that is, in scanner range of one of my ships. AIs are getting all the goodies now! LOL 2) Remark on the Good vs. Evil Scenario... Note that making your Team buddies more powerfull increases the difficulty. As long as you can keep their influence from swallowing you, I don't think they're really such a threat. Plus, you can ally with the "evil"

I've spotted a couple gems: The government of the Drengin Empire fell and become the (soft and cuddly) Drengin Federation. Later, a planet rebelled from the Drengin Empire. The "Set Rally Point Information" was written by an alien, but I haven't figured out which species yet. I commend the idea of putting editable text in a visible box to you, and making the "Rally Point mission" [which is not labelled as such] a radio button. Have fun! ~SDC~

Leave me a bug to find, I want the "bugfinder" medal! ;) When starting a scenario, I have yet to discover, in game, where the scenario description shows up. There should be something in the Player Setup window, and perhaps the first years info blurb? Also, are the two new empires influence handicapped? They seem to be wiped out in influence on the map, most of the time, unless the colors are just blending in to someone else. ~SDC~
