Unable to uninstall Stardock Central. Keeps hanging. So I downloaded from Stardock.com and installed over my current installation. I now have 2.05.319 build 83. It asked me to update to the 2.07.333 build 85 and I told it no. All my functions are back. I also noticed before I tried to uninstall it, it would crash if I hit the discussions and I clicked on one. It didn't give an error message. It just "disappeared"...hmmmmm I wonder......I am r

Just downloaded the update to Stardock Central 2.07.333 Build 85. If I have it check for updates to Skins and Themes, it acts like it is looking, but it comes back blank. No error message is given, but it says it is complete. Also when I try to exit it, if I click on the right upper X or click on file and exit, It will close, but I get an error message to send to microsoft. This occurs only if I have tried to retrieve a skins/themes update. <

Do you have WMP as your default player and is it installed to it's default folder so it can find it? In my theme manager, it does not show the previews of skins, but it lists them and when I hit apply, it seems nothing happens, but when I open up WMP the choosen skin has been applied. I also have WMP 10 <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by Sk

This is strange. Stardock Central was working great. Today I installed the updates in Theme Manager (ver. 2.11.027) and Windowblinds(ver 4.40.033). No problems. Each program working better than before. Now comes the weird part. I went to Skins and Themes and did update manager. No problem found and listed all the updates. I can get all the areas of the update libraries except for Updated Skins. Mine lists 3 updates, but if I click it to look at them, Stardock Central crashes and closes

There are certain motherboards that do not like Bootskin esp after installation of SP2. Have you installed SP2? I have had no ill effects of Bootskin after SP2 installation. If it doesn't work at all, either the motherboard is one of those you cannot have bootskin with, or the original boot.ini file is corrupt. Do you use more than 1 Os on your system? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images

It is really easy. Download the skin. Then open the bootskin program. Up at the left- hand on top, click on file. Then click on 'import from file....'. Locate the downloaded file in the popup box(I usually download the new skins to the skin folder so I know where they are.) Click on newly downloaded file. Click on open. Bootskin will extract the files and place them in the skin folder. It will give a confirmation that the skin has been installed and ready for use. All you need to do then is cli

Great! I thought that might have been the problem. I was hoping you didn't have file damage in the MBR from the confusion of converting back and forth from Fat32->NTFS and back again. Obviously you don't because it WORKED! I've learned a lot about drives. New drives are all backwards compatible. Tha

When you say they load correctly, Do you mean that if you click on a skin then hit apply, it says "Bootskin applied successfully, This skin will be used the next time this machine is booted" or do you actually see the skin?

Your welcome! If you still have Xp fat32 on the drive, replace the cable then try booting to XP to make sure the cable is on correctly. Then try formating it using NTFS. It may still have the error if the MBR file system is already damaged. I'll check back here this weekend to see if you need help because there is a way to fix it if it does have the error.(it should be the one I listed up above)

I am placing this link for any others that are having similar problems with bootskin after SP2: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb[ln]873159 Basically follow my above directions for the SP2 install and you should be okay. But for you Sparda1, You already had SP2 on your machine(you have already had your reboots), so Bootskin should have worked. I also cannot find the list of incompatable lists. You didn't have another "bootskin" program already on your computer? <img

When you installed the drive, did you use the 80wire, 40pin connector that came with it or an older cable that is the 40wire connector? Also double check your Bios settings to make sure that the UDMA modes are set to the faster setting. Also what exactly was the second parameter on the stop error? STOP 0x000000ED (0x aaaaaaaa ,0x bbbbbbbb ,0x cccccccc ,0x dddddddd ) UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME The Oxbbbbbbbb one. If it Ox C0000032, then the file system is also damaged. My guess is

Copy/move the downloaded file to the skin file in bootskins. I believe the default file is "C:\Program Files\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin\skins" Open the bootskin program. At the top there there is "file" and "help" button. Click on the file button. The drop down menu gives you five choices. The top one "import from file" is the one you want to click on. Once clicked it should open the default location of the skin file. If not just browse to you get to it. Once you find it click on th

Oh Kona0197, I wish I could afford a new motherboard, but I currently am stuck with my M830L aka K7S5A. It is now known to have weird "quirks". Such as booting up and It cannot find the first hard drive and boots into Win98(my second hard drive). The second is sometimes it loses the CMOS (the batteries are good!). The third and my favorite is ....The Date is Jan 1, 1601 !!! It is quite the time traveler. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/lol.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle"

Bootskin will work with SP2 unless you have one of those incompatible motherboards. Then it is not SP2 fault, but the chipset fault. I know I saw a list somewhere on which ones..... . I'll have to look for it. It is very important, that when you install the SP2, that you disable Bootskin and other ObjectDesktop applications from starting when booting the computer. Disable them in thier preferences

I wish I could afford the 1GB ram. I do a lot of photo editing. I only have 512 now and with everyday tasks I use about 75% of it. I'm willing to give up Win98 for it! I thought that was the easiest way to have 2 computers on one and not mess with a boot manager. I had a video card driver conflict, (XP and it did not get along) and it seemed to me that the NTFS XP recovers faster. I've be

I have a dual boot system. My bios lets me choose which hard drive I want to boot from. My largest drive 120g is my NTFS partition. It is an eide drive and is configuared for cable &#115elect. I have that divided into XP partition(windows os) and a second partition to store documents and music etc in case XP crashes and needs reinstalled(so far I have never had to yet even after 2years). So That is drives C:\ and E:\ in NTFS. My second hard drive is smaller 20g and was from my old computer. That
