I agree that it might be a bios issue. Go to Bootskins homepage (Under Stardock) to try the other versions of Bootskin to see if one of them might work for you.

Let's work on Bootskins first...... Where do you download the bootskin to? Do you have Stardock Central? You need to find the bootskin program file on your hard drive. This is how I get to mine....click on My Computer > Local Disk (C:)(double click on that) > Double click on the file 'Program Files' > Find the file Stardock and double click on that > Find the WinCustom file, double click on that > Then you should see a Bootskin File. Double click on that > There should now be a file in t
When I installed SP2, I made sure I prevented any of Object desktops applications from running. I went into each one and unchecked the box that state "start-up with windows. For Bootskin, I opened and choose the default bootskin. For desktop themes, I right clicked on desktop, clicked on properties and chose the theme of "Windows Xp". After applying that, I noticed that the taskbar was still classic, so I clicked the tab: Appearance, clicked on windows and buttons and it brought up a lot of subs
One thing about installing SP2- Make sure you go back to the default Windows XP stuff(visual style and bliss and logon on screen and to the default boot screen) before installing SP2. Also make sure nothing loads up on start up.(windowblinds, DesktopX, Object Dock etc.) Install SP2, after downloading it will ask you to reboot. Click yes. Be Patient with this first reboot will take a while, the OS is altering system files etc. Do NOT mess with the process. It will take a while.(Mine was 5minutes
I found out that you need to update DesktopX via SDC by itself. If another program is up for updating, uncheck that and update it by itself.
First of all, what OS are you using?
I also had a problem. Skin Studio was also trying to update at the same time. I click on DesktopX to update first and the update went without a problem. Then I let SkinStudio update and it updated without any errors. What exactly is your error message?
Older mobo...bad news. I had an old desktop that froze then rebooted. Then it couldn't find files .dlls etc. Even after a clean install. Turned out it was the power supply. Since yours is not rebooting on it's own, I don't think it is the power supply. I really think it might be heat or the ram. When you clean it, make sure you reseat the ram. Avg I have good results with. It's caught several Trojan's for me and helped me to delete them. One thing to remember on that is to turn off system r
What happens when you unplug it then plug it back in? Does it boot normally? My first thought might be flaky ram. If you unplug it then plug it back two things happen, one the ram is completely cleared and two the temp drops. That is my second thought, that it is a heat issue. If Norton is up to date, I seriously doubt that a virus or trojan could have gotten on it with Norton on. I love Avg. It's free and has saved my computer several times. Another two you should get(they are free) is Ad-
I was so confused when I first got Object Desktop. They had everything installed in different places and one program could not see another one. Stardock Central has improved Object Desktop, by making files in one central place. Themes are a lot easier to download and apply etc. Bootskins has always been a problem because it is not officially supported by Stardock. I find it is a great way to change the Boot file without messing with the original file. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/i
Thanks! I was looking everywhere, but the most obvious place! In Stardock Central, I was trying to go under file->restore archive and could never find a previous Stardock Central But as you pointed out, the restore pro
When I started Stardock Central Today, it said there is a new "version" should I update? I clicked yes and it asked if it should create a restore point. I clicked yes again and then Stardock downloaded and created a restore point(that is what the message window said, I assumed it was archiving the previous version), then Stardock Central said it need to restart, so it shut down and restarted itself. After it restarted itself, everything seemed fine. I closed Stardock Central(no problems)and rest
I had the same problem. Installing a new SD Central over the current installation did not work. So I had to uninstall, reboot and reinstall the new SD Central. First time I had a problem with it.
I am so sorry to hear that. Please look into Hospice care in your area. They are wonderful. They focus on the Family as well as the ill person. They will come to you, no matter if you choose inpatient or home care. My prayers are with you and your family.
I have both. A Tivo and 3TWC DVR's. My experiences is Tivo is smarter in the programing and the DVR's are dumb.DVR's cannot tell when a program has already been recorded. Wastes space on the hard drive with duplication, if I don't remember to precheck schedule recordings. It also has the habit of only showing what is going to be recorded 3 days in advance, and sometimes it adds back in programs, that I have said I did not want recorded. Tivo is much smart in comparison. On the other hand, T
I'm a newbie, and I am trying to convert mss styles into windowblinds. At first I thought it was me, but each one I have tried to convert has been missing the Start Button. In analyzing the skin it states that a mandatory image is missing but will supplyment a "default file". All the styles show a start button. When I test and apply the skin, it applies fine except for the start button. What am I missing? Skinning is new to me and I thougt I learn by conversion first before I try to make my own

I have been lucky with Ebay. But I do some research on the items and sellers before buying. I have bought a barebone computer, to a monitor, to dvd's and minature tea sets. I know that people are not always satisfied with things they get, so I look carefully at seller's feedback comments. If I see a pattern, I usually skip that person. It is very important to read the fine print. Some scammers are trying to lure you in for a item cheap, then get you saying that it was not the item they are sel
I'm new to this too, but I have bought object desktop also and I kept getting the shareware versions, even though SC was registered. I found that if you open SC then go to the Software tab, then click on Object Desktop, then the program, (such as Themes Manager), just so it is highlighted. Then look at the bottom of the Browser at Registration Info and click on it. It will bring up a new window. Make sure Object Desktop Subscription is visible in the first box near application. Make sure your na
