Some day, someone will Google this problem and stumble across this thread. For the record: The reason our IT department has disallowed Fences is that software of this nature needs system level access in order to run. This is the new 'red line' that was implemented between a year ago and now. Just a heads' up. I was also unable to download my miniMIZE software for the same reason.

Greetings everyone. I've been using Fences for years now. Sadly, my PC blew up and I'm painstakingly reinstalling things. This is why I was shocked to see the following error when I attempted to download the program after logging into my account: What's worse is that I'm not permitted to install the thing sin

Thanks for the response. I have confirmed that MS Office 2010 is previewable in Tiles. I'm sure they'll fix the shortcut issue in a future revision. In the mean time, I've created a shortcut for the program, but it lives in the actual " Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Office/Office14/ " folder itself (because I don't want titles like EXCEL.EXE in the Tiles list). However, when I drag either the EXE or the shortcut into the Ti

Previously, I've shied away from many of Stardock's customization tools because the results look gaudy and require an immense investment of time to configure. Now, like Fences, I'm warming up to Tiles . It's got a straightforward and slick finish and more reasonably matches the way I do work, which is to work in different groups of apps. Anyway, a few questions, since I can't figure out where to post them: Is there an appropriate te

Every single time ObjectBar starts up, it opens every single button-entry and sub-menu, grinding my computer to a screeching halt until I kill ObjectBar.exe in the task manager. I haven't installed any new software, this just started happening a few weeks ago. Previously, I was able to patiently close every damned thing until I starts working normally, now I cannot. Even if I start the program manually (I figured there was something startup related) this happens. I would love a soluti

I can't find a way to download it a second time. When I go into Impulse on my wife's account, it shows as already installed. If I uninstall and then reinstall things, won't I just break it on my primary account? By the way, thanks to both of you for addressing this ridiculously fast. It is very appreciated.

That could very well be. I will have to give my wife Admin access to see how that works. Thanks! EDIT: Sadly, this didn't do anything. I gave my wife Admin privileges, logged her out and then logged back in and found the same problem. Any other thoughts?

It must like me better or something. Deskscapes works just fine under my login (which is where the install originated), however, when I swap over to my wife's account and attempt to run it, the main app window looks odd. Instead of the tabs running along the bottom (Backgrounds, Background Settings, and Effects) along with the stuff within them, there is only the Backgrounds tab and it doesn't include any of the installed stuff to boot. Any help would be greatly apprec

Thanks for the help, guys. Lantec's answer worked for me. Thanks so much! It's nice to be using a program that plays nicely with PNG files, since that's my preferred format for imagework. Once I opened the PNG, then saved the ICO from IconDeveloper , I had no problem at all. I can cut Photoshop right out of the equation.

I have created some 22x22 icons, first in Fireworks, where they are exported as GIF's with an alpha channel (so non-colored elements won't be rendered). This GIF is then taken into Photoshop where I save it as an ICO file. Then, I use this ICO file in my objectbar elements, wherein they appear miscolored as in the example below: The letter images

Hi Bichur, Thanks for the response. I'm just looking for a general overview that let's me drill down into the functionality of each element. With software like this, I find one of my biggest problems is knowing what program handles what . I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of it, but there are so many subprograms that it feels overwhelming. I will look at the links you have provided (thank you, btw), then hopefully I will have a better handle on things. I was just h

Sorry about that. I see it listed under "Applications" (within the theme manager). It is called Aero Midnight . Only now have I also noticed that, in addition to the stated problem, my Windows-Circle-button-thingie isn't skinned at all. I've also got another thread wherein I'm trying to find some detailed documentation so I don't need to pester you folks when I know an answer is in a PDF.

I have searched through the tech-support section of Stardock, but am perplexed that I can't find any thorough PDF instructions. Am I a total fool? I'm sure there has to be documentation for this software, but I'm not finding it.

Greetings all, It's been a few years since my last subscription to Object Desktop, but now that my employer was willing to cover the cost, I'm all over the customization-fun. Recently, I installed an Aero variant . The theme is great - dark, clean, and not big & blocky. However, upon bootup, I also get three gadgets that pop-up which I manually disable. Is there any way that I can remove these gadgets. For that matter, are there any straightforward instruct

I see that this is an old topic, but I have only recently renewed my Object Desktop subscription and found that Direct Folders won't come up. For the last two years I have been using Direct Folders and can confirm that - yes - double clicking on an open spot on the desktop will indeed open the DF-menu. In addition to that functionality failing to work, though, I also cannot get the DF-menu to open when I double click inside an active Windows explorer window. I have added exception
