Thanks for the info. I was racking my brain trying to figure this out. I even have Windows FX running and didn't even check the desktop icons tab - duh... My desktop looks so much cleaner without having all the labels all over the place. Thanks again.

I thought there was a feature in Fences to hide the labels under the desktop icons?! I recently had all of the text labels hidden on my desktop without having to use that Rename -> ALT+255 hack. That method works but is lame. I know I did it with some piece of software or a registry change. Does anyone know how this is done with the registry or a piece of software from Stardock that does it? I tried that lame software Desktop Icon Toy - lame - didn't work.

I tried some other skins and based on what you indicated in your post, that appears to be the issue. Skins that use a white/dark (text/background) color seem to affect the application. Switching to a theme with dark/light t/b color resolved the issue. Thanks for the assist changing the skin seems to have resolved the issue.

Just wanted to say thanks for the tutorial. It's great that you are taking the time to help us the new users of DesktopX to learn it internal workings. I noted that the images in this tutorial are broken, and thought you should know. The properties of the images indicate they live on msnuser.com. Unless a person has a membership to msn that person would not be able to see these images. Thought you should know.... <img src="http://images.stardock.c

I believe we may have tracked down the problem and it seems WindowFX is not at fault. How many of you have the WB system tray icon enabled? We have found with this disabled the problem does not happen. Does anyone here have the WB system tray icon disabled and still have the problem? (having rebooted since disabling the ic

Someone asked about specs I am runnin a 3.2 GHz Processor 2 Gig Ram ATI Radeon 9800 Card with 256 Meg Creative Audio 2ZS Sound Card Netcell 5000 IDE Raid Controller with 360 Gigs of space I've found if I unload WindowsFX before shutting down this resolves the issue, so it has definitely got something to do with the Windows FX software. I am also running WindowBlinds 5 too. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/

Since installing WindowsFX 3.0 I have noticed the explorer.exe gets stuck during shutdown of the computer with an explorer not responding error end now dialog box. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem, and if so is there a solution. Its not a serious issue, just an annoyance. Thanks for anyone's response on this issue.

Hopefully this is the right place to post these questions. I am a novice iconeer and am in the process of beginning to develop my first theme. However, I am sort of lost when it comes to the icons for the theme. So it prompts me to ask the following questions. 1. Is there a list posted somewhere on this site or on the net that has a listing of all the icons contained in an IconPackager package for WindowsXP? 2. I have seen

TO all who wrote on my original question. I have resolved the issue. IT seems if you let certain programs install a shortcut when they install, they install a 'ghost' shortcut. The actual icon isn't an icon at all but just an image that doesn't register with DesktopX. By removing these 'pseudo' shortcuts and replacing them with real shortcuts from the actual executable, the issue of the generic icons disappears. Thanks again for everyone's input.... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/imag

You do have IconX enabled...right? As far as I know it is enabled. I am using the latest beta version of DesktopX and the icons that it is replacing are the icons used by Jasc PaintShopPro v.8 and Jasc PhotoAlbum v.4. DesktopX is replacing them with generic 'batch file' icons.
