For additional spice, I make all the AI pure evil and then I play pure good. I started this because someone reported a better score for this comination in 1.05.
Ricbayer, Ive tried a game like this but it actually gave me a lower score and I think that its bugged in how it calculates it. I played Medium, all bright, 3 civs good and 3 civs bad campaign for a score of around 12k. Then I did a large, 3 bright and 2 intelligent, me and drengins bad, the rest pure good,
If this hobbit doesn't mind cheese, he can repeatedly colonize (with 1 mil colony ships) and destroy colonies to get those events.
I used to do this but I've recently found an alternative that aint too bad. When I colonize a lower PQ planet, say 14 or 15, I will save and load until I get the -X% production event. If you take a loss of say 30% or more it will effect your morality score by about 10 pts towards good. So if you take that event 4 times you are already at 90
Well, I had a wonderful weekend...I decided to try a Gigantic/Painful and played for two days...and lost. The Drengin became some sort of jugernaut I've never seen before. No matter what I did, I couldn't weaken them. The entire galaxy was at war with them and their military just kept getting bigger and bigger. My overlords were getting sliced and diced by their avatars and DREADNAUGHTS! Yes, dreads were defeating my overlords regularly! I tried hunting down their military resources so

What kinds of ships are you using Soldier and or what ships can you build? What is the AI using against you? If you let us know then maybe we can spot something that would work better for you. One trick I know that a lot of players use is to ignore all the AI's combat ships except the transports. Without transports that cant take your planets. Something to think about anyway. You can also improve your military ships by building shipyards and Advanced Quality Control Cente

LoL! I like the way you think Cypher. If what you say is true about their attacking abilities then maybe Im not as bad off as I thought. Theyve sent a few transports my way but they were ungaurded. I naturally assumed the AI would be a lot better at invasion at Intelligent. I'll have think about some more. Maybe I can do both a quick strike and colonizing and social building. My Hero is pretty tough at the moment which is the only reason this might work. Ive also go all military picks an

I appreciate the help ricbayer. I do have several 14 and 13 class planets within easy colonization reach. Quite a few actually now that I think about it. If you include PQ 13's I probably have close to 10 sitting in my already colonized systems. I hadnt colonized them yet because I didnt think my economy could handle it. However, since the Altarians just joined the war, maybe just maybe the Torians will give enough of a break to do this. I cant of any other good ideas and so I think I will

Could use some help again fella's. I ended up reloading from an earlier saved game and used the colonization of a class 13 planet to grab 3 more systems including a PQ 20. This helped my cultural influence a ton!! Since I got the instead of the Torians it was almost a complete cultural reversal. However, Im in the crapper again. To recap, Im in the bottom right of a Huge galaxy, the evil torians dominate my western horizan and the Arceans and Altarians are WAY up north. Everyone
Any idea why
I betting that I know. They are on different legs of their trade route. If you look at the trade section of the domestic policy screen, It will show you the # of turns it takes for a freighter to complete the route and what turn of that their on. Example: 7/14. This means it takes the freighter 14 turns to go from Sol, to the Alexians, and back and that he is half way done. Half way in this case would be the Alexian planet. Trade routes gain in value ba
i tried to play in a tidy professional manor. colonizing a few star systems every year or so. thats my mistake, so i changed my strategy, and i made it past the year 2219 yesterday!
I am not surprised by this development at all because this is exactly how learning this game works. I knew that if you were having a hard time at that level that there must be just a simple little thing you were doing wrong. Congratulations on figuring out colonization!! In many turn based

By the way, what is "calkwalk" LOL ? Do you have white lines of calk showing you where to move your ships too? :HOT:

Miika, Gaurd in Gal Civ does NOT work like Gaurd in StarCraft or something similar. In those cases you tell it to gaurd a specific unit and it will follow that unit and attack whatever attacks the guarded. In gal civ, setting a unit to Gaurd is equivalent to saying "okay, stay here until an enemy ship comes within sensor range". Heres how this works: You move your ship Hero to a particular position and set him to gaurd. Hero automatically forfiets any moves he had left that turn
Do you mean like Sentry guard, attack and such? Most of that I have found isn't all that usefull. Sentry it ends up waking up nearly every turn anyway, for example.
A ship placed on sentry will "wake up" when any foriegn ship comes within range. A ship placed on GAURD will only wake up if an "enemy" ship comes within range. If you want a ship to stay put and shut up, gaurd is a much better solution.

Lothmorg and other gigantic players, about how many HOURS are you taking to finish a gigantic? Days doesnt tell me much. I rarely get to play for more than 1 to 2 hours on weekdays and maybe 7 total on the weekend. It took me over a week to finish my last large game. Playing huge right now and Im seeing a completion time of November coming. Ray, I definitely think that the scoring is screwed up when you play 1 or 2 evil vs the rest good. This should get you a significant b

I appreciate the help guys :). Will try to take out ET's cousins (torians) tonight if the baby ever goes to sleep :notsure: P.S. Is Nanobots the quickest tech to get to that gives you +soldering bonus? It seems like it is but its hard to rush too. [Message Edited]

Hey guys, Just thought I would chime in for the first time. Finished my 2 on 4, Evil, Large, Common, Bright game. No troubles. Drengin and I kicked some goody goody butt. Then I stabbed the drengin in the back. Love being evil. Now on to a 2 on 4, Good, Huge, Common, Intelligent game. First try at painful. Plan on allying with the good Altarians and kicking some baddie butt. Start is okay, grabbed some decent 2 and 3 planet systems. One sector with 3 systems and about 8 viable plan

Ray, I was looking into HOW you join an empire and accidently joined yours. I hope you dont mind! If you do, just kick me out. No hard feelings. I do, however, plan on progressing on up to masochistic in the near future and so that should help to fulfill your ambition of having the most active masochistic players. Im one of those geeks who could successfully play Axes and Allies by himself. Call it, split personality LOL. The harder the better IMHO. It takes me forever to finish one

By then I end up having a lot of my planets build nothing cause Im sick of ferrying these guys around. Me thinks we need a higher level constructor in late game that can build like 5 modules at once but have the price tag to compensate. Naaa. Its the military ships I get attached

Vincible and Ray, Ive looked at your games submissions and almost all of them are military victories but you guys keep talking about culture bombing. So, how do you get a military victory when your culture bombing? The times that Ive done some culture bombing, nothing happens for a while and then all of a sudden all the planets will start flipping. I dont think I could stop the domino if I tried. Short of maybe destroying my own starbases. thanks for your help P
Also since I am new and probably just stupid, when you are building new things for your planet, is there anyway to see where it is in the galaxy? Cause later on you have so many planets and blah blah, don't know where things are etc etc, need to build influence improvements but dont know if your building on the right planet... Too lazy to look through everything to see if this has been mentioned already so...... One thing that I think is glaringly missing from the shiplist is a higher level defense oriented ship. We get defenders, then battle axes, then......nada. They're should be a least 1 or 2 more defense oriented ships to later research. Say one for the dread-ranger era and one for the avatar-overlord era. At excalibur, rely on planetary defense upgrades more. Something like that my 2 cent

Cool site Theoden! Thanks As far as Battle Hammers go. I still use them more than anything else until I get dreads and rangers. Everyone talks about frigates. Well, frigates are nice for quick long distance strikes and chasing down colony ships and freighters. Other than that, I dont like them. Mind you, I still build one or 2 for each designated area of coverage for exactly the afore mentioned reasons but thats it. Why? Maintenance cost and battle stats (oh and looks). <b
