LDiCesare, Im far to attached to my military units to go with AMM's. :(. I name all of my combat ships so I just cant send the Annihilator to his death. It just seems wrong to waste the Omega on just one ship LOL . See my problem? Im a military freak. I go after all of their ships first in a war. I dont invade until Ive cleaned out the area. I know its ten times harder but thats the way I like it. In just a small game I killed well over a 100 enemy ships. Sadly, doesnt seem to do

Alliance victory would certainly be the quickest. I usually get at least one or 2 races to "close" without trying hard. Of course :HOT: , then I stab them in the back. Muhahahahahaaaa!

Hey guys, maybe I missed the memo but what the heck happened to excalibur class ships?? I rarely tech up that high but was doing so in my last game just to get those ships. Got all the way to final frontier and nothing. Needless to say I was very disappointed :( what gives?

It was at painful but, Ive taken out Rangers and even an Avatar with my battle hammers. I love em. Its all about controlling military resources, building shipyards etc, and developing them in levels as the battles go on. I aslo find that building battle axes at all planets seems to keep the ai off my back. Might be a little extreme though.
Wiley,I'm gonna add your post to the Strategy Section of the Fellowship website. I think it's very well written and is a great general guide to be successful at the game!
DUDE!! Hey thanks Theoden! :) Never expected this. It was just that Dark Assasins distress call sounded so similar to mine a few weeks ago. People have given me so much help its only right that I contribute to. Anyway, Im glad you liked it. Someday when I get the inclination I thought about writing
Interesting observations. I've not focused much on the pop growth picks as my initial impression through experimentating with that pick is that my populations maxed out rather rapidly and the pop stopped growing.
I feared the same thing at first. Thats why I also picked a totat of +30 morale and +5 PQ. This basically raises the cap and lets the pop keep growing. You could choose even more morale to help this out. It would probably be easier to just make sure you grab

Hmmm. Well, let me preface by saying that I am far from an expert, but I would like to help you out by offering some quick pointers. First, in my experience your tech research order, your build order, what you build, and initial colonizing rush are the most important building blocks for a good game. I'll just try and give a list of some of what I do. Morality: I see you play as evil. One somewhat cheesy, but useful for learning, thing to do is save/load upon colonization un

Ive always thought that it was strange that your in game actions did not affect your morality. Especially things like using asteriods to take out a planet, building a terror star, etc. Shoot even destroying "colony" ships could be seen as pretty evil. Having a terror star is probably the weirdest one to me. When you vote on it in the UP, all the good empires vote against them, so why dont that get mad at you when you actually BUILD one. Oh well.

What are your starting picks for party and abilities? What are the morality settings of the AI and what morality are you playing? Are getting any of the trade goods/wonders? Are you researching the social improvement techs? What are you building on your planets? A little more info would help.

Ive never seen the dread lords either. Worst random events Ive seen are the fundamentalists and the Telenath crystal thing that makes a race get stronger over time.

Someone mentioned Star Wars Rebellion. Horrid graphics, buggy and weird tactical combat, addictive as hell. I loved that game too. Hard to explain why. I know I loved all the different kinds of ships and their differences. The tactical battles while pretty minimalistic in how they played out, could be frickn huge. The vast travel times were you couldnt change their course also added some great strategy. Long repair times were a pain. Made you just scrap the ship sometimes which is more r

Congrats on the Maso win Ric!! Seems you were playing painful just yesterday! I finished my first painful a while back but decided to perfect some strategy before moving up in difficulty. On that, I have a question for you guys. Has anyone ever used the "dont ask" max option for population growth? Its +70% pop growth (in 1.05). I tried that in a quick little tiny/tough. I chose populists, +70 pop growth, +10 morale, +10 diplo, and +5 PQ. Gave me a total of +30 diplo, +30 morale,
Hehe I did it once for fun. I played a single-sector tiny defensive game, and gathered all the resources into that sector. I pumped all the terror stars full offensive and defensive, and was righteously creamed. Looked funny having all the naked resources lined up in rows!!
How did you lose that?

I find it simpler to just have a +trade and +speed starbase in every sector along the trade route except your home on. I do this for three reasons. First it gives me a bonus all along the route. Second it serves great strategic value as now I can send ships up to that AI or that area in a hurry. Basically use it as a highway. Third, everything else takes too much micro-managment. Just kill them all ready!

I have 2 scores that wont submit for some reason :(. I submitted another one 4 times before it showed up :(. Dont know what the problem is but its ticking me off. I have a huge/painful thats going well and should be done before the weeks out. Hopefully, it will let me submit it.
i have the same problem with trade, i almost always loose my trade routes because the planet that they are going to has flipped to me.
I have this problem when trading with a minor sometimes. the trick is though to stack a bunch of constructors in the sector with minor (like 25+), build a starbase with all cult mods and any military ones you can, then gift it to the minor. No more problems.
Obi-Wan told the truth...from a certain point of view!
LOL!! That's hilarious. Oh, and I cant help but memorize movie lines obi "thats no moon, its a space station" Han "its too big to be a space station" obi "turn the ship around" but of course, that happened a long time ago, in galaxy far far away. im pathetic
I play this game on three computers (work, home, and laptop).
LoL! Do you still have a job now? :) Anyway, It seems to me that the scoring is screwed up when taking into account yours and the AI's alignment. I like to make to the game harder by playing a 1v5 or 2v4 type of game. I do this by playing as pure evil and setting the other ai's to the opposite alignment. This invariably makes the game harder especially if you play evil vs all good. However, th

Well, Ive only had to really deal with sharks once so far and have never messed with pirates. The one time I had a shark problem was an early game random appearance and HOLY COW, they were NAAAASSSTY! It worked in my favor eventually though because they destroyed severl of the neighboring drenins resource starbases and allowed me to grab. They also destroyed two of mine however and it took me ship after ship to destroy them. If they hadnt been weakened by the Drengin already, I would have be
Isn't that because a good morality AI may be more likely to trade and ally and less likely to war?
This is true if you are good as well. However, if you are evil, they hate you of course. Playing evil against all good is most definitely NOT easier than playing with standard alignments or playing good against all evil. If your evil and everyone else is good, they will all gang up on you in no time and it will be a 5 on 1 war. I know, Ive tried it because I wante
