seemingly random but not infrequent. i elaborated in my copy/paste not working thread as it progressed. This was posted in an attempt to share what i hoped would be helpful dump information. in short, for some reason changing the pc to primary seemed to have a hand in it.

So im going to go through a great deal to get this configured in such a way that its ideal for me. Should i format or install it on another pc, id like to transfer my settings. where does fences save its configuration? also like to ensure its hit by my backup script.
well, first of all - looks like the problem was related to (unfortunately AND preliminarily) having a secondary set up temporarily as primary as well. Its early to tell, but so far so good. I was crashing out of tray and thus losing much of what multiplicity did at a large enough frequency to make it a huge problem. I did the purge, re installed, re did my settings, toggled the offending secondary to primary and primary to secondary to re-do "those" settings on the
After my first run-through of the software it doesnt look possible. but figured id check. would be a nice checkbox option to have if not.
yea that was the first place i checked. unfortunately that item stops working properly if you disable the fences shell extension to remove the context menu item. somehow it ties into microsofts basic context menu entries. after re enabling fences context menu item i could again enable or disable auto arrange. with the fences context menu item disabled (which should be a built in option!) via registry they just show as unchecked which made me assume
i think this is sort of related to my issue. anything ever come of it? if i place an item on the desktop. fences literally just yanks it off to the far left. if i try to move it manually, the minute i release the mouse button, it yanks it back....... no way is this intended behavior.
so its an all or nothing. No way i can find to disable just the context menu entry from the desktop. No way to even remove it manually ala registry within reason (renaming a key for example) shellexview moves the dll from the approved to the blocked list via clsid in the registry which is cumbersome to keep track of, but works if your ok with it being gone from your context menu in all its varieties. A checkbox to integrate/unintegrate with explorer wou
So ive pulled something out of a fence to move to my desktop. Fences keeps pulling it off to the left side of the screen as opposed to leaving it where i put it. please tell me this behavior can be modified somewhere?
thank you for the reply. yes that its the first place i looked. disabling it via shellexview has no effect. unsure what or where fences is hiding thats unconventional regarding shell extensions but i cant get it to omit. Hopefully a dev can step in and point me in the right direction. ive renamed every FencesShlExt i could find in the registry manually and it is not only still in the context menu, but still functional as well! EDIT - it did i
So new user, in general/on the surface - most stardock stuff is easily identifiable as stardock stuff. Cool/unique/useful to varying degrees. I like it, almost as much as groupy, and more than multiplicity. (that guy and i dont have a good relationship atm) Anyhow, the one thing thats bothering me atm is the inability to use my mouse-click>drag conventionally. the "create fence" option should require or be able to be configured to be paired with
I try to keep my context menu pretty lean and only populated with things directly related to my work, and non-redundant. I looked at fencesmenu64.dll which doesnt seem to do the job, this seems to be tied to directory/folders etc which is fine. I'm looking to disable the handler when clicking on blank space. Would be great to be able to toggle this as an option, but until then can someone point me in the right direction (presumably ala registry?)
thanks for the reply. No, i didnt do a roll-back. Thats the first thing I thought of. (did i do a macrium restore). only other thing i can think of, is whatever is causing the crashing out of the tray (only happens on that specific secondary) happened after my changing of the password, and thus didnt save properly as it didnt shutdown or exit properly. I created a new thread with the crash report today - perhaps that can help figure out what on e

Post edited by admin: It kept crashing out on my secondary pc after the whole "losing password debacle" from a few days ago. I decided that as annoying as it would be, i'd purge with the provided bat, re-do everything and move on. we'll - hadnt even finished setting up my settings after a purge when it took a dump out of my tray lol. hope this is helpful Faulting Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Multiplicity\Multipl
Okay, now a huge reason i came here was due to MWB constantly putting my stuff in a "mouse without borders" folder, and requiring archiving for more than 1 item. (having wol and kvm was icing, as was a general attraction to stardock software) so far, WoL hasnt worked for me one time, the mouse has disappeared whenever it feels like it, screens have to be pre-woke from standby as the kvm doesnt seem to do so and i end up with a black screen, ive lost password connection that requ
well initially it is powered off, sort of. after some time without activity it goes into standby mode. taking a keypress or a moving of the mouse button to wake up the display. Pretty commonplace now but i figured id mention it. that being said, the display will be awake, as i can type in my password "blind" and it will be typed in behind me on the laptop. Definitely no two gpus, i wish. We're talking original core2duo in that bad boy :P pur
Hi sean. VPN is installed on both machines but not running/connected. (there is a tap9 adapter present if thats why your asking). They are private, and I have them added via hostname (as they were correctly picked up via the software) but the IP is also correctly picked up and I checked the "always use IP" option as its my understanding this is preferred. I did try to swap out the hostname for the IP and the result was the same. It last
Hey again sean. Afraid no external monitor whatsoever. Its an older intel with integrated graphics though if that makes a difference. Its pretty far down my list of issues w/ multiplicity atm but in trying to resolve them on my own i came across this thread and posted to see if the OP had any info. The commands are being passed as i can look over and see the keypresses going in. Unfortunately the kvm screen stays black most of the time.
I dont disagree whatsoever. With a bit of polish, and even fewer features added - it ought to be king of the hill and certainly would validate its asking price. it just needs some love in the bugs/reliability realm first and foremost. FWIW that is exactly why i get a bit irate over it, i came into it expecting greatness as ive been a groupy user for ages and my workflow requires it. I'll never go without. I expected, a
I wont argue. a bit of hyperbole sure. And yes, thank you for realizing my frustration. Going from having no problems at all, to several in a short time is frustrating and led me there. but we'll say 5x the problems as going from 0 to having 5 or so pressing issues sounds about right. Of course mwb doesnt offer wol, and it doesnt offer kvm, so its not apples to apples. whereas the seamless which it does has worked without fail.&
Admin : Going to prune your message a bit to be on one topic and be more readable for just that topic... Did you ever figure this out? I have the same exact issue now. Restarted the multiplicity service and now I can't connect to the 2nd of my 3 PC's. It pings fine Can Seamlessless to it fine Multiplicity tells me it can connect fine When I go to kvm, it shows as offline and gives me some kinda password error even though they're the s
ever fix this? saaaaaaame issue. laptop screen wide open and running. i literally have to seamless over to it and force it to shake the display awake to "not" get a black screen if i try to kvm.
we need the option to delete our own threads!
Figured it out. Interaction between groupy and its "auto group windows when ctrl is held down" and ctrl+f11 being my KVM key in multiplicity rip
found this cause this just cropped up for due to the secondary causing my primary mouse to disappear (for like the 5th time and ive only had the software a week). A couple restarts of the service on both sides via keyboard (that didnt work and required me to entirely restart pc's) led to this newly found problem now. The suggestion to purge your entire install and re-do everything is insane. I mean cmon guys - its time to go through your software a little mor
