Getting Frustrated in Skinning WinCustomize Forums

For two days now I've been dealing with just trying to skin my Start Menu correctly in SkinStudio. Is there seriously no good tutorials out there that can properly explain these tools? I've tried 2 (the only two I can seem to find) thus far, but even then I can tell their aged and I'm unsure what stands and doesn't stand and they differ in quality mid tutorial as they just suddenly go vague on some of the biggest points of contention with me i.e how they use the margin tool t
