on the first tab of the dx configuration dialog is an option to hide (or not) your desktop icons as to the cpu usage, when the desktop is covered desktopX uses hardly any cpu at all. So when you are using your programs you don't have to worry about dx hogging resources

A sticky doesnt have to be continually added to to merit it's stickiness. Sometimes they are like notices that should be required reading for new users. Personally I don't care if there 5 or 10 or 15 stickies, I don't find it that difficult to navigate to the normal threads

that raises an interesting point about creating icons. I've made a few myself, and whilst I made the graphics myself, I did base some of the custom file graphics on the existing logos and whatnot. This seems sensible in light of what an icon is all about - recognition of a file's function/identity. However, by copying the form of the existing logo, or basing the new icon on existing material, I presume that is technically infringing copyright. So is there a necessity to complet

I found that skinstudio was making a bit of a mess of a recent conversion I tried so I had to use photoshop. It was a bit of a journey trying to get photoshop to comply, I would convert the image to 16 colours indexed mode but then when I went to save it I wasn't offered the opportunity to save it as a 4 bit image, only 8 bits. In the end, if I remember correctly, I had to change it to indexed mode, 16 colours, with black and white as forced colours in the palette - then when I went to save

Yes, I've noticed that sometimes on first loading objects the scripts don't appear to respond. If I then subsequently restart dx everything works as it should. Also I've noticed some strange behaviours on object deletion. If I choose yes to d e l e t e (excuse the spacing, WC seems not to like this word atm) related objects too, random objects in other groups mysteriously vanish. I have experimented with this, checked and dbl checked all depedancies, groups and parent/child relationship
