Notice to the GalCiv staff. Trying to get to your sight this morning I clicked on my "favorites" listing and it came up with "Joe User Blog". I followed up with a search to make sure my link hadn't been infected, but when I clicked on the search link it to went to "Joe User Blog". You need to look into this ASAP so others won't have to bother with it. I got here by choosing a subsequent link shown in the search for the forum area. And I tried to get to the opening home page, but the navigation l

I'm still getting back to speed after a new computer and getting the Gold package. Where do I find what version I'm currently at? And where do I find all the appropriate Betas, since they don't show up on SDC? No rush on this, just when either of you have a chance to let me know. I only have two or three times a week I can even get to the game (work, helping at wife's school, car problems, baby on the way, helping widowed mother, etc.). Thank you now for all your help.

As many have noted on both sides of this idea, reality and this game are different areas of thought. But nonetheless it is the pratical idea of any such game to keep getting closer to reality. For that, my thought is two-fold: 1) Thinking back to ST:TNG where one mission has the Enterprise falling into a hidden trap inside a asteroid field. Likewise you could build units that would look like asteroids from the outside but have all the essentials inside. The aspect of homing mines though

Zman2100. If these updates don't help out the only other alternative is component upgrades, if not a total system upgrade. As Magnumaniac noted a "few" years is almost multiple lifetimes in the computer field. Trying new games on systems even as little as 3 years old could run into problems. As I do system consultation, design, and creation, I've dealt with many who haven't wanted to upgrade/replace their systems. But most anyone needs to figure on regular upgrades and/or replacement wi

Having installed the game no my new system with Vista I found little problem with running GC2. Only occasional graphics glitches, but mostly runs fine. I did download and install the B5 mod and it works fine. I've tried to add others (in particullarly Kryo's hull mod) and keep getting "access denied" to the folder area. Having run into this with another program I noted when I installed the game that the folder properties were fine. After installing one mod now the folder properties show "read on

Greetings. I've recently got back to playing GC2 after I got DA to go along with it, and a new computer. I created a terran break-away group as a custom race and right off the bat found three new system; one of which had a class 26 planet. Needless to say I checked and/or updated my colony ship and buzzed right over to grab it! It also helped that it was one of the far corners of the map away from everyone else! So large planets are quite capable as it seems to be happening more often. I still h

Generally any boarding parties would aboard an attack ship, rather than a transport. Generally troops that would double as ship security otherwise.

@Feud: You're right for the most part. Especially with China already talking NK down, telling them not to do it. As far as the NK armed forces, they like China has a mass of numbers. While a prolonged offensive would definitely fail, the initial push could reek enough havick across the boarder area that they could probably slip agents and special forces through during the maelay. Yes Kim Jong is trying to be bigger than his britches; but I believe him to be wild enough to try anything at any tim

As one has noted, if you can't find an "unmasterable" game to your liking, don't play any!! You need extreme sports instead! Pricy!? Just a little. But many other game expansions have been sold for more, and with less addition than SD is listing. As far as those that may have already (or will by the release time) moved onto other games, I've gone back to others when an expansion is put out. So I imagine many others will too. I wouldn't expect everyone to; not everyone goes

@Coplann & Vorlone: The Narn ships are what I've been waiting for. Primarily to round out the primary races. That way rav8 can build them into the mod as well. Coplann - particularly, the Asimov Liner would be a nice touch; espeically for the purposes you've noted. That would help round out the non-military ships. One ship type that might also be looked into by someone might be a specific troop transport / invasion ship. I'm not sure if there was a specific one shown in th

One way to advance into an area (slightly slower) would be to only click to as far as you can actually see through the FOW. Generally once an area has been 'sensored', even though FOW is still there, any planets of note still show up. So, only go as far as you can see is clear and hope more planets show up before you get there. Likewise, click to stop just short of a planet. That way if more show up when you arrive you can change the final destination before colonizing.

@Coplann: The newest update on the Warlock is not downloading. You might check with Stardock on the file. It goes straight to "error" on a blank screen. They've apparently have had recent trouble with a few files. Keep us informed of what you find out. Thanks.

Thank you both - Citizen Kaesar and socially hazardous! I've added these to my system, and I'm already on overload! This makes the looks of builds much better; more even in appearance. These two additions opens up a whole new way of building ships; just with what's available, let alone what new hulls and jewelry might come later. Definitely two keepers! Thanks!

Can't say myself, but I imagine they're doing some sort of fix or update on the file. I've seen different files disappear like that before, and come back a few days later. So, keep looking! I'm sure Connie will show up again soon.

I agree, and voted yes! Paying the "piper" is required if your going to hear his music. Pocket change shouldn't be an issue for new things. And like the post just above this, getting parts out quicker rather than waiting for a large whole can be more advantagous. If you would take a full expansion pack and split it up into it's component types it would average out about the same for each area as this idea is being priced at. Look at the whole picture from each point, up close; not at a distance.

I would agree with most. Havinge at least 1-2 extra hull sizes would add to the end play. I especially think the aspect of more variied diplomacy is despretly needed; (threats, alliance controls - i.e. war aspects, talk between civs on switching political or ethic types with and without pressure, etc). And, I think would be far better, different ship types and components - i.e. different ship hulls for each race, more component options, and maybe even more races to choose from (whether or not yo

@Star Adder: You can replace the stock civ pictures with different ones, namely from B5. All you need is a photo program that will save as .png, then import most any picture, edit size (comparable to the ones in use), and save them. Then you can either rename them to the different races, or using an xml editor you can change to settings and names. I've been working on this myself, and so far no problems trading them out.

I was wondering if you have, or could make some thumbnails for GC2 to use (in thumbnail folder). It would help when adding them directly into the ship files (GC2Types.xml). And, what is the Centari Scarab ship for? (What type of ship is it). Thanks.
