Extragalactic conquest would be fun and hopefully doable with Star Sectors (at least within a local group of galaxies), but integrating a new tech tree to upgrade from Kardashev Two to Kardashev Three (or higher) might end up being almost an entirely new game. It could be worked as a spin-off perhaps for Galactic Civilizations IV, similar to how Sid Meier integrated Civilization Beyond Earth and Starships. You can take a civilization from one game (planetary conquest in Beyond Ear

One of my biggest complaints about Stellaris is the lack of a continuous zoom from the galactic level to the solar-system level. I would hope though that the Star Sectors feature on Galactic Civilizations IV will not make the user interface more Stellaris-like? It's a real pain on Stellaris to only be able to interact with one solar system at a time. https://www.galciv4.com/gameplay/ What would be very cool though is
There are spelling errors for "The Galaxy is in Crisis: Apophis" event: "disintigrate" (sic) should be spelled "disintegrate" and "torandos" (sic) should be spelled "tornados."
I've been deliberately limiting my gameplay so I don't hit the 2-hour limit on the Steam return policy. I spent most of the 2 hours on the tutorial, and then tried making a new game but felt overwhelmed with not understanding the details of the backstory so I posted here to see if maybe I also needed to get Galactic Civilizations I and II and/or Star Control: Origins while they were still on sale. I would only want them though if they are happening in the same universe as Galactic
Do I need to buy Galactic Civilizations I and II in order to be able to understand what is going on in Galactic Civilizations III?
I am completely new to the Galactic Civilizations franchise. I just got Galactic Civilizations III Gold but I find a lot of stuff to be really confusing. Is there an in-universe chronological development between Galactic Civilizations I, II, and III (like with The Sims, Mass Effect, or Age of Empires)? I am wondering if maybe my confusion is because I am completely new to the franchise and have not played the previous games. Or can I really get the full experience with
Also, instead of replacing each of the 3789 default star names with my own custom star names, what would happen if I only replace say 100 of the default star names with new custom star names and then delete the remaining 3689 star names? If a map is generated with more than 100 stars in that case, would some of the stars have duplicate names, or does Galactic Civilizations III have a system in place to prevent that (e.g. suffixing a number or letter to duplicated names)? What is t
D'oh. You have to click "enable mods" in the options. It works! :-) But where did the star names like "Assembly" come from if they are not listed in ? If I only wanted to use real star names, would stars like "Assembly" still show up on some maps?
How do I customize star names in Galactic Civilizations III? Ideally, I would like to use real star names if possible. I tried altering C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\data\English\Text\StarNamesText.xml but that did not seem to work, even when I copied the altered file to C:\Users\Nicole\Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade\Mods\English\Text\StarNamesText.xml For testing, I just did a simple find-and-replace on KAT
