I hear you, Pictoratus. I'm not thinking we can legislate stupidity out of existence, but what I'm talking about is a systems approach. We make changes to the system so it is less likely for an uzi to end up in the hands of an eight year-old. So often after something like this people focus on punishing the individuals. Believe me, I support punishing them, but that is only

The OP favors tightened gun control. Some of the pro-gun dissenters say we can't legislate against stupidity, and therefore suggest we don't try. But we legislate against stupidity all the time. The high taxes we place on cigarettes is one example. The argument that there will always be stupid people is a weak argument. There will always be crime, so we should not legislate against it?
Thank you so much, Magnumaniac! :P
This link has served me well: https://forums.galciv2.com/152796 My problem is it doesn't work "perfectly." For example, I have a planet with a moon and 56 mp total from factories and my initial colony. The production capacity slider is set to 100% and the social rate slider is set to 100%. My race has a cilization social production bonus of 65%. My understanding of the math from Iztok is that I should
Yeah, it's a glitch. I am using Terrans and for some reason when I hit the upgrade button it added this module. Bizzare! Thank you both for the responses. :)
Just wanted to note that I'm playing ToA and it is fully patched and updated.
I had a huge ship that I was upgrading. A module I did not originally have on the original ship spontaneously appeared: The Advanced Battle Station Module, giving me a 33% bonus to attack in my own influence for 5 space and 80 bc. The thing is, I'd like to have that module on other ships, but I can't find it anywhere! First, can anyone tell me what technology unlocks this particular ship component? Second, why did it appear on my ship when I clicked to upgrad
I just started up a game of GC2DL. I did not find that upgraded core ships have more space than a ship from scratch. Then again, I have a full patched copy of GC2DL. Are you fully uptodate? If so, start a new game and then talk us through how you create an upgraded core ship with more space than a ship from scratch. I'll be happy to try to replicate your claim.
The description for the Nightmare Torpedo mentions it tearing the "fabrice" of space. It should say *fabric* of space.
There are several possibilities, Ackos. First, did you design your ships under a different race? For example, you are playing a game as the Terrans and create some combat ships. Then you start a new game as the Yor and don't see them. This is because custom games are saved under that particular race. You can manually edit the files if you like. I know S0 is for the Terrans. Second, you may have designed your ships in the campaign and now you are playing a custom game (or v
Wow. That is exactly the kind of advice I needed! Thank you so much, Mumble! :)
I'm in the end game of a gigantic metaverse game. I'm now number 1 in tech, military, and influence. There are 5 alien civilizations left and they are all at war with each other and have close relations to me. I'm not at war with anyone, but I'm not allied with anyone either. What end game strategy will get me the highest score? Alliance win? Military conquest? Influence win? I believe it is military conquest. Do I lose points if I'm the one who declares war? I'm worr
Well, it wasn't a problem with an old bug. I'm uptodate and fully patched. I think it was just far too many extras. I'd have to click the button on the upper right three or more times to sort through all the various extras I had, so there were over 100. I think when I tried to add more items it just went haywire. :)
Hi! Because you declared me for a Rebel Scum, I refuse to answer any of your questions. Iztok
Pint, My advice to you is to retract your statements in the OP which are offensive to Iztok because Iztok's understanding and posting in this area is without a doubt the best. Iztok is the master and has helped illuminate this entire subject for me. If you can't get Iztok on your side, then specifically look for his posts on the subject because
I have designed many ships before and never had a problem until recently. I tried to make something exceptional and constructed a ship with perhaps 100+ extras. It looks gorgeous! Now I'm psyched to load it up with weapons and actually use it in gameplay. There's the rub. When I try to add more than 7 weapons, things go haywire. These odd lines appear like cables connecting various components. Other components disappear. My ship essentially starts to fall apart and literally cracks start
Solitair, You say there is nothing wrong with censorship as long as it I can censor too. There is something wrong with censoring if you censor because you don't like the idea. I understand moderating a board for offensive language or outright rudeness. But censorship because you don't like the political ideology, when the postings are to a political message board, is wrong. It is even dangerous. Paul, by you continuing to read thes
than I am. If you refer to Little Whip's post, Things You Should Know Before Voting, you will see Little Whip put up a composition (by another author) that states when we went to war in WWII that, "Germany had never attacked us." I countered that this was false and gave the specific example of the USS Rueben, sunk in Sep '41, with the loss of 115 lives. Someone told me I was wrong, that 100 people had lost their lives. I
Wow. That sends a cold, cold chill down my spine... Farewell and "mission accomplished" to the censors.
Why can I no longer post on the discussion Another Way to Look at Taxes? Can other people post to that thread? My last post was #37. It mentioned that Draginol should not ridicule poor mathematical skills in others and then in the very same thread make math errors himself. I checked about 15 minutes after I posted it and it was there, but no replies. That thread was deleted sometime this evenin

So don't preach to me about the benefits of a socialist system. I have seen the very real and painful downsides. The sad reality is, there are very real and painful downsides of any system of government. Just because you had a bad experience with a socialist system doesn't mean you might not have had a
ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!! This is the United States of America! Not the USSR, not Cuba, not North Korea, the USA. We are not parts of a machine without souls. We have thoughts and ideas. Unless of course, we are extreme leftists who believe the government should run our lives while we sit a
Sales Tax: 8% (varies from state to state) You can't add the 8% from sales tax to the 6% of state income tax and come up with 14%, Draginol. It's apples and oranges. Example: If you make 100K then you owe 6K to the state in income tax. Let's
I dare people to really research why they are democrats I used to be a Republican. Then I received my education and switched to the Democrat party. One of the key factors for me at the time was Ronald Reagan selling weapons to terrorists in order to surrep
Of course the reason that he might know more about those things is that Brad has been busy making money. Nice, FreeMark!
