megachu, check your PM. I might be able to help you.

Agreed, RoPa. All through the 90's especially they were a "must-read" when it came to PC games. Alongside dwindling PC game shelf space in shops like Gamestop/EB Games, many PC game-centeric magazines will also dwindle and fade. Print media, in general, is on a decline. I know...I work in a weekly regional newspaper. It gets a little harder every year to find new advertisers and to keep circulation at a profitable level. This generation is all about the internet and the blog
I can only drum up one request right now: 1) A bit more ability to customize player-made races. Specifically, being able to REMOVE points instead of always having to add. I would like to make a custom race that, say, is an industrial powerhouse but suffers a penalty in research.
I would guess that it involves better texture compression techniques which makes the files smaller and more "optimized".
I generally find myself playing like dthif1980 above: Go for the trade right away, build-up/trade research, and generally play nice. Military is nearly non-existent. However, at a certain point - say, about a year in game time - I beeline the Influence techs and then start converting planets of the strongest military faction with starbases. While thats going on, I go for the diplomatic branches of research. After a point, all races will look at you with that "deer in the headlights"
Hey, 1.2 has been out for a day now...where's the GalTrek mod!!
Agreed. I voted to have all these ships in "mod" form but that's just a personal preference. I can just as easily swing the "manual" method as well.
Dude, I have GOT to have all of these. Hurry up 1.2!
Can't say I blame Stardock. That area of the world is software piracy Mecca. (Not a sweeping generalization of the good people there, don't misunderstand)
Hey, glad you got it to work bman. Sometimes there seems to be a "time lag" from the time you submit the post to when it actually shows up. For me it's generally about a minute or two.
You may want to check your game options and see if "prompt starbase upgrade" (something like that) is checked. If it is, then a window should pop up asking if you wish to upgrade the 'base as soon as the constructor arrives. Also, check the manual out...it should tell you all the ins-and-outs.
Ditto here...about the playlist problem and the great piece of work.
*bump* I am also wondering about this as well? Is it in there?
As I stated in the "Beautiful Music" thread, the in-game music is truly top notch. However, I noticed in the manual that there is supposed to be an option in the "audio" section where you can select a custom music playlist. It says "enable this to play whatever music is in your music folder" but the option does not appear on screen. Do I have to place my custom music inside the default GC2 music folder for this option to show? (I'm at work...otherwise I'd try it.) <img
Hello all. I have had Galactic Civilizations since 2004 and have never, ever felt the need to post. But I simply must agree with Dano...the music is extremely well done. In the days leading up to the release of GC2, I took the time to rip and edit some of my own personal favorite sci-fi soundtrack bits (Star Wars, Star Trek...the usual suspects) for use in my custom music selection. However, I have yet to even consider using them in-game because the GC2 music is such a....well for
