Nice to see I stirred up a discussion. As some of you probably guessed, I'm not an artist, so my skills are limited when it comes to artwork. Not that I coudln't do it, and template icons are a great thing. I've mostly used the FauxS icon sets, and I'll probably try to make them myself. Filetypes are, as mentioned above, not the big problem, but the tools like DevStudio, Perforce, Visual Works and similar would require some work by a "real" artist. I haven't been able to find one single icon package that contains icons for programmers. Visual Studio, .cpp, .h, .lib,. o, .java or similar. There's always a bunch of mpeg and graphics stuff icons, along with art programs and anything else. Icon kits should contain templates so one can add new filetypes easily.
