One-time costs of 5BC per starbase are basically irrelevent considered against the duration of the traderoute. The only costs that need to be considered are maintenance.
Umm...what about the cost of 4 constructors per starbase? That's a big opportunity cost unless you have military production going to waste.

Well, I did say that terror stars in an adjacent sector should be viewed as a threat...but it would still be better to force incremental completion rather than "Presto! Chango! There Goes the Neighborhood!" BTW, my last two attempts at gigantic maso I've gotten so deep in debt that I'm not sure the position is recoverable. Say rather: "so deep in debt when all I have is Soil" meaning that my economy is weak too. Thinking back, I did something dumb. You see, there were these juicy sys
Or I could fix it so that End Turn Skips Moves Left option works a bit better.
Exactly what does it do now? I was always reluctant to try that since the literal meaning is that the ships would not move, where I want to force them to move. It *sounds* like a "complete auto-moves" button would be relatively simple to implement.
I was wondering if it cam down to points War would be the only way to go.
Not exactly. When it comes down to points, Military Conquest is the way to go, but that can be achieved by largely non-military means. If all the planets are yours, you have a Military Conquest even if you never fired a shot, culture-flipping the lot of them. This can be achieved by turning off "Culture Victory" but of course that can be seen as an exploit. I leave all victory conditions on, bu

Walldorf: Hmm...I just wrote about this in your vagabond terror star thread. Well, I suppose I can write *on* topic for a change! ;) In my maso experience the Alexians will usually buy tech, and the Kwilasians/I-League will usually buy tech. I have had maso games where the Alexians will NOT buy tech, and it takes me a long time to get back into the black. If I want to preserve a minor as a trading partner (for freighters, for tech trades, or for tech sales) I "blockade" t
I think it sounds like a great idea (hate the micormanagement though)
Hmm...other than having to have all the freighters arrive on the same turn, assuming that the TS and the mini-freighters have the same speed, there isn't that much micromanagement (assuming a straight-line trade route). You can have the TS on auto-pilot and click once near the destination planet. [Not *on* the destination planet, for very obvious reasons!]
I would reconsider the overl
It wouldn't stop people from parking constructors in adjacent sectors, then moving them in when the time is right (just like people can do with warships.)
Well, in 1.13 if you put a warship on "guard" in an adjacent sector, even on your own starbase, "friendly" majors will declare war on you. You could apply the same logic to parked constructors (but if so, I'd like to see some mention in the release notes; I got clobbered by friendly Torians in my first 1.13 game!) I do
That happens when you have ships on sector sweep. They stop in the middle of their turn and have some move points left. You can continue the sweep with Ctrl+W. Or you should do without this functionality.
You can just tap "W" without the "Ctrl" too, but that's a different issue. "Find" doesn't find my autopilot ships either. Are you saying that if I have any ships on sector sweep then the program can't find autopilot ships? [I can do without sector sweep, though I like

CariElf: Thanks for "resolving" my minimap problem. [She pointed out that the haloes around my planets when the Mfg button is active *should* disappear when I turn off all spending. OOPS. Now where's that blushing icon when I need it?] So now I have another oddball item. Small map maso. Built an opportunistic econ starbase diagonally off the corner of the Torian home sector. [Just couldn't pass it up when the Torian starbase got blown up.] Later, I converted that starbase

Techie: MD's point is good. Another approach is to set whatever limits you enjoy on your in-game conduct. You can choose to never initiate war, or you can be a ruthless warmonger, or you can practice situational ethics. You can follow the guidelines of Realms Beyond, avoiding exploits (among many other things, and in fact their guidelines might be ideal for your inclinations). You can follow the Iron Man rules, if you yourself are sufficiently masochistic. Or you can take the position that i

Nothing new about this one; it's been around since I started (v1.05). When I click "Find" the program rarely finds ships with outstanding moves. Easy to reproduce; happens early and often. Also I would like to have a "Go" button that causes autopilot ships to execute their move for the turn. Since "find" doesn't work, I have to find a ship with outstanding moves and move it manually (or click "info" and "done"). Sometimes if the ship I find is late in the queue, some of the earlie

Yes, they did put out some funny stuff. After all these years, "Nick Danger" holds up quite well. A lot of the other stuff was a bit too topical...and some would say it was better appreciated under the influence of mind-altering chemicals. Somehow I avoided those, but still enjoyed Firesign Theater. "Ar

Typo: when allocating bonus points during setup, text for trade routes says "trade rout" (darn those cowardly merchants, anyway!) Bug: on the minimap toward the end of a gigantic map game, the Terran systems disappeared. All the alien systems (major and minor) remained. I believe this was true with both pop and mfg buttons selected. (I have saved games that I can check for the problem.)

CariElf: thanks, I see it's there now. [Of course, I failed to check this thread before trying to post it again just now.
If any of the developers are reading this, more in-game documentation would be nice. It was a great improvement (in 1.10?) when Stardock hyperlinked the techs. Now if the entries in the tech screens get hyperlinked, we'd really be cooking with--um--microwaves. -- HtL
I still consider the SB bonuses multiplying a bug...
It's not a bug. It's not a feature. It's an enhancement! :HOT: OK, since the aliens don't make use of it, it's more of an exploit. Hmm...hit a snag. I decided to try one of these on small maso, expecting that to go quickly (compared to gigantic and by my standards, of course!) The problem I'm having is that I have to spend a lot of time in the diplo screens trying to keep the aliens from declaring war on me. I was stumbling happily along when all of a sudden the Torians said (to paraphrase): "You're evil; prepare to die." Yikes! (And by the way, my morality shows as Neutral/47, which sure isn't EVIL.)
