Thanks for the replies, Terl, BBRB, and of course CariElf. I had also experienced extremely fast updates, sometimes the score appeared moments after the posting. That game *still* does not appear. (Two whole days; I know, I know.) :p

Cari: I posted a gigantic maso yesterday morning (I think it was), got the "successful" 1/0 return codes, but when I clicked "Metaverse" the page was not found, suggesting that the site was down. I tried to check the Metaverse several more times with the same result. Later, I found that the Metaverse was up but my score was not there, so I loaded the end game save and posted again. 1/0 return codes...but as of today the game still does not appear. Would you take a look and see if you find so
just hit one of the function keys (I usually pick F5 to check on relations). That takes you out of the "click next for each planet" queue.
I've done that accidentally, so I forgot about it! Thanks.

Maxti et al: Admiral Glacier here. I have some questions about the mechanics of a true lightning run, as opposed to the "too much management" (not necessarily micro) that I am still doing. 1. How often do you stop to deal with the aliens? 2. Do you "rough-cut" any deals rather than fine-tuning the amount of cash, etc.? 3. Do you generally avoid tech trades in favor of cash & carry? 4. What do you leave ON among the options? (I eventually turn off my ships, and

This isn't a bug, this is a suggested enhancement: it would be helpful if the main map scrolled to follow a moving ship. It's a bit aggravating to have a ship move just off the screen (or just to the edge) and then hear it firing at something. It would also be good to see what Hero (or a scout or sensor drone) just moved to (like that big green rotating rock, for instance...) -- HtL

Maxti: Thanks to you, I have my first Gigantic Maso victory, and my first 60,000 score! When I joined the Metaverse, my goal was to make it into the top 250; this has propelled me into the top 100 (and "just" one more would bring me precisely to #50...if I posted one Right Now ;) ). I have one more of these quite far along, so I think I'll finish that one, then I might try to actually do one of these quickly, as opposed to micromanaging what is supposed to be lightning-quick. :p Th

The AI will sometimes colonize PQ14 on maso, but they still seem very slow to do so...which helps if you're trying to pull off the "Lightning Alpha Strike." It's hell if you fail to notice the new colony before you blow your treasury back to the Stone Age. ;p
Hermann the Lombard: that only happens if it failed to load all the save game files, which usually happens because files are missing. It's possible that the save game code was interrupted. You could compare the directory with the autosave directory.
The autosave loaded correctly, to my relief, so I'll let the other one go. Thanks! -- HtL
That happened to me once, but AutoSave and PreviousAutoSave were fine. That's what they're there for, after all.
That's what I'm hoping, of course. Tried the "corrupt" position twice; didn't have time to try the autosave...and I didn't want to find out how much "work" I've lost. The strategy is "Lightning" but I'm not. -- Admiral Glacier

Thanks, LDC! I gather you mean capture the planet; I had in mind blowing the system. I doubt they'd want it back then. "Slightly used." ;) In this game they're right next door. I'm nearly dead center on the map, and they have the whole western third of the map. One problem with grabbing the nearest planet...likely their whole navy will come through that sector, on the shortest route to my nearest planets. Meanwhile, see my post #329 in the 1.13 Bugs thread. When I tried to load my
You mean that only Mr. Ford has this problems and the others can keep a secret? Could you verify this? If so, I would send this double agent in prison until our intelligence service got the upper hand again
To the Death Furnaces with him! But set them on slow cook... Meanwhile, YIKES! Late game gigantic maso, and I'm cranking out constructors as per the Lightning Alpha Strike. Saved the game last night, tried to open the position this morning to check somethi
I'm currently in a bit of a hopeless game myself. Medium galaxy, and I only got one star, and various powerful people are demanding my planets and have combat transports floating around the earth. It makes a change, I suppose...
Sometimes you are the windshield, sometimes you are the bug. I doubt I can bribe my way out of war at maso. I thought *maybe* if they do some damage first. I suppose I could try to sneak a stack of constructors over and blow up the

CAN THIS AFFAIR BE SAVED????? Dateline Sol, September, 2192 The Lombard League has been quietly making progress toward its innocent goal of blowing up the galaxy, but now the very existence of humans is threatened. The Ambassador to Arcea was caught tup--I mean, "insulted" the wrong mistress, and now Arcea has declared war on the defenseless Lombards.
if there is a i constructor / turn limit to building, there needs to be a build queue or I would forget what I was building where *grin*
Absolutely agreed!!! In the absence of that new feature, forget 1/turn! (Well, except for TS, but that would require nuisance coding.)
I like the idea of making a 1 module per turn limit for any starbase.
That makes perfect sense to me...then it would make sense to say "Construction of our first starbase is coming along..." Also simpler to code. Constructing a starbase s/b a time-consuming process.
If you combine this with having to actually pay for terror stars, the alpha strike setup would take longer and might not work every time.
Agreed.
I stil

Hurley: all good info for CariElf. CariElf: frankly, your diligence is amazing, though I'm sure you're tired of hearing about this frustrating bug. Interesting that Hurley sees it early on. Also interesting that the problem is visible in your saved game (and that shutting down GalCiv and reloading normally clears the problem, re-initializing *something* apparently. I guess if you saved a position every 12 turns or so, you might be able to discover when the problem appears. Time-cons
If you want diplo translators, either hops a minor will build it or stop your colony ships and switch to 100% social early.
I'm surprised that works at maso. If I don't build enough colony ships I don't have the economic base I need to compete later on (assuming I'm not trying a One Sector Challenge or some such...which I guess scotches my argument that I need more colonies!) Assume that you *do* want the DTs (so to speak). What approximate starting sequence wou
