"Because in terms of graphics design, there's a difference between drawing a single image (an icon) and a typical widget (like say the weather widget)." The weather widget has really nothing to do with avedesk, it's for sysstats, which happens to be able to run on avedesk. I always used to describe my application as an icon-type-of-app, not as a widget app per sé. "Let's assume that you're only using Apple's graphics for 2 of your images. That doesn't really help your argument.

"All the default Avedesk widgets have original graphics". Yes, and there's what? 4 widgets that come with it? Your default desklets (recycle bin, drive icon, FTP drop, and note app) are essentailly icons." 7, if I am not mistaken. And what does the point that they are essentially icons have to do with the graphics? "Here's the thread on Aqua-Soft for showing off your Avedesk desktops: http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/index.php?showtopic=20391" WOAAAA!!!! That's so strange: they a
4) You say "Hire a graphics artist to improve DesktopX widgets". There are lots of beautiful DesktopX widgets/objects/themes already out there. But your Avedesk bias is getting the best of you considerng that mots of the popular Avedesk widgets are literally stolen graphically from Konfabulator. This is not true and I find this very very very disrespectfull to some of the people that have been creating graphics for me. All avedesk default widgets don't had any graphics from konfabula
I just want to correct some things on this (not all incorrect things, just some). There was a reason AveDesk was all over aqua-soft. I'll try to explain - in my crappy english - why. AveDesk as a project, started completely on the aqua-soft website. At the time I was a semi-daily visitor/poster on aqua-soft, and through private discussion with some other members, the idea to create the application was born. When the first version of avedesk was released, it was released as an aqua-s

Armstrong really dominated like no other year. All other years their was a more serious competition. Too bad Beloki wasn't in the Tour this year...
The name is Andreas All my friends call me Ave.
Back to Luna and a weird wallpaper.
WOOOOHOOOO. The master is back!!!!
the docklet is called 'Animated Shorcut Docklet', not 'Simple Animated Docklet'
You'll need to add the animated shortcut docklet first to your dock and then configure that one to use the animated icon. Hope that helps

I am using my home-made FTP droplet for AveDesk. [Message Edited]
"shit, still does the OnDropFiles() not work in Object Dock, useless update for me" > I'm having negative thoughts today, written too much shell code.
I think you can... Well, if you are thinking about what you are thinking you aren't thinking anymore of what you were thinking of. You should think about that
some other specialized coding I like that part Creating a docklet requires "some" programming experience. If you don't want to go as far as C or C++, you can try herds Scriptable MultiMeter Docklet 3, which is scriptable: http://www.dockex.com/?page

WOA! Great job Kona!
Been registered there for some time now
I didn't read all the posts in this thread carefully, but as someone who is doing a lot of programming on docklets for both docks, I think I can say I know pretty much about both docks. First let me make something clear: Aqua-dock 1.0 = Y'zDock 0.83, so everything I say is also true for Aqua-dock. Y'zDock does not use any of the functions available by the DirectX API. It only uses GDI and GDI+ functions (which is slower than GDI, but has some funky extra things). O
Aqua Dock is a shameless rip off of Y'zDock with modified resources. So, basically it's Y'zDock and Y'zDock may no longer be distributed. Object Dock is still alive (and is much smoother on my machine when doing animations than Y'zD.). And btw, Y'zDock does use GDI and GDI+ instead of DirectX. MobyDock is the one that is using DirectX.
