I confirm that civfanatics seems to be down for several hours. I think that there is no notice at www.civfanatics.com as it is still *very* :D early in the morning in the US and people might still be asleep there (what timezone is the server located in, actually?). Anyway, I would hope for a notice around afternoon CET. - Physicist
Just found the three threads in CFC's "other games" forum (of course, I only had a look into my own team's thread). Sirian: I love the logos! :D :HOT: :) And thanks for the detailed instructions. :) - Physicist
Yep, sounds good! :) Thanks for the clarification, Sirian. - Physicist
Zed-F: Yea, I also thought about the strategies you mentioned. My point is: I am not sure if you have the possibility to push for victory actively once you are in a winning situation (like the other teams do have): Either you follow a very passive path (wait until your "enemy" declares war on you), which will work on the long run, but might be somewhat boring :) . Or you try to speed things up by employing the strategies you mentioned (or even some of the more nasty ones ...), but I am
I am sorry to see that the slots have not filled up yet :( . Succession Games are such great fun. So, well, if you are willing to take me, I would jump on the wagon. File me in wherever you see fit, with one confinement: It will be difficult for me to play before Wednesday evening (CET time, which is something like Wednesday noon in the States) this week, so if the games start very early this week (Monday?), I would prefer not to be placed in slot #2 of the roster. I think you would hav
I second Bam-Bam and Smegged: Sorry to see you leave, Sudy Nym. Good luck in the future, and have fun with whatever you do. :) - Physicist
Having played "large" or smaller maps only: * For difficulty level below Maso: all games won before 2200, sometimes before 2190. Mostly Alliance victories. * First impression from a few Maso games: Games end later, around 2200. (I have not yet achieved any Beyond Human victory, however...) My only true loss (medium Maso) was in Dez 2198. - Physicist
Congrats to both, Admiral! :) How is life without vice? ;) - Commander Physicist (still working on the promotion to Captain ;p )
Smegged: Congrats to your Maso win! JaxomCA: Yea, try not to lose the enjoyment of the game. That's by far the most important goal to set. :) Sirian: I understand your points and basically do agree, but I am not sure about the game balance point. I have played three games with mixed AI intelligence levels up to now (ok, that's a small sample); AIs of "mirror" alignment always had identical intelligence. These games were fun (for me) and did not feel inbalanced. The step from C
JaxomCA: Congrats to promotion! :) What vice do you intend to choose? ;) What is your next goal? #1 in the average score ranking? :) - Physicist
JaxomCA: Thanks, I have found this thread myself a few hours after posting my question. :) Have not made the calculations yet, however. Sirian: Thank for the congratulations. I have to admit, that the game did not really feel as like a Maso game, as ... * I chose my favorite picks * I drew a very lucky starting position (when the colonization phase was over I knew that I would win this game) * Most important: this was "Maso-"; two AIs were set to Genius intelligence. :p This
To me, the "lack of micromanagement" is one of the major advantages of GalCiv. I stopped playing Civ3 as I could not stand the micromanagement any more ... - Physicist
Thanks for the help, guys :) . The main point I still do not understand is the following: I have submitted 7 games up to now; the 2 recent ones are in Time Block (TB)1 (0-30 days in the past), the other 5 games in TB3 (60-90 days in the past). TB2, in the middle, is empty. I know that I scored someting like score(TB1) = 21k points in the first block as this was my score before I took the one month break. No idea how this score is assembled, sum(points)/sqrt(Ngames) doe
Thanks, JaxomCA :) ! This explains my reduced score - not quantitatively, but qualitatively (which is enough to satisfy my curiosity, for the moment :) ). I should play more, then I would not run into "problems" like this ... ;) - Physicist
Hi, I have a question to you Galactic Emperors... ;) Unfortunately, I reduced our empire score by some 5k points (sorry for that :( ). Does not matter too much due to the great performance of you guys, but it upsets me a little bit, anyway. I submitted two games this month (still lacking time for gaming :( ). The first game's score (8k) directly added to my score as expected for the month's first game. My score was 29k, then. The second game (submitted yesterday, 7k p
Looks like a challenging map, indeed. :SURPRISED: Be sure to find me in the lurking crowd. ;) Good luck, guys! :) - Physicist
Where's the stupid "edit message" bottom? :p It disappeared ... Well, looks like I can't correct the typo in my last post any more. I was talking about "games" coming in, not "game", obviously ... :) ... Hey, we are ranked 9th now! :CONGRAT: - Physicist
:CONGRAT: Congrats to all RB players! :CONGRAT: 1M points and the new patch finally out! Party! ;) - Physicist PS: ANZAC: 1020974 RB: 1020960 Keep the game coming in ... [Message Edited]
"... I'll supply the brautwurst. (Come on... Brautwurst! ..." LOL The quote of the day! LOL For the non-Germans: "Braut" means "bride" in German, so a "Brautwurst" is a sausage made of ... ;p Guten Appetit! (Enjoy your meal!) ;) - Physicist :)
Wow! RB in the Top Ten! Congrats, RB players! Keep up the good "work", guys. I hope to be able to continue playing soon (and to contribute some points to our empire score :) ) ... - Physicist PS: A warm welcome to our new overlord Drasca :)

Welcome s1mone! :) I am glad to see new players joining our empire, as I am quite busy with RL issues at the moment and have not touched any game during the last two weeks, and probably will not be able to do so during the next one or two weeks :( . But expect me to return to our quest for the Top Ten afterwards! :) - Physicist
Welcome, Chenghong Huang and King of Pain! :) - Physicist
Same problem for me. Freshly installed GalCiv and v1.1 stand alone, played a fast game to test the submission, and my Conquest (not Cultural!) victory shows as a loss. Load my metaverse page and check the difficulty, this is a joke! I am currently playing Crippling difficulty level... I still have a last turn save. Did not upgrade to Dregnin.net, btw. - Physicist
