I don't wish to disrespect Ock by taking his thread off topic. I'll post an article about it if you're actually interested. Pretty dull really. That's quite pleasant of you, Mason, but as I said in some other silly blog I wrote, everyone is welcome to come here and tear my pages if they so desire, as lo

Thanks for adding to my vocabulary, what an unexpected treat! I had to look this one up, and its a great word but you misspelled it. vituperation--- Doh! I don't suppose you'd allow me to claim coinage on a hybrid between vituperations and vibrations, could I? Rats...busted as charged. <img src="..

It's a bloggy day here in Rhode Island, and while there are any number of things I probably OUGHT to be doing, I find myself surfing, and reading other people's stuff here (something I'm actually guilty of not doing enough of for all my implicit claim of being a part of this community.) And because of the fact that it's impossible to NOT stumble across a thought prov

The point of the analogy is that when commenting on someone's article, on their blog (in their house), it should be done with a certain amount of decorum. I will grant that this is so, but I believe the number of "decorum units" required might vary from person to person. For instance, I prefer "Ock, yo

The key to avoiding blacklisting or trolling marks seems to be that once the owner of the blog has asked someone to desist from a certain activity I don't avoid such things because in order to do so I would have to reroute my thinking to become acceptable to all or to change what I believe based on wh

Dharmagrl, there are parts of the following that might seem a bit "heavy handed," or maybe they won't, but I'm gonna play it safe. I apologize in advance and only enter this in the spirit of healthy debate. Since I know samma-kammanta and samma-yayama to be important to you, I am sure you will understand. I began this post as a

New? bug. I gave a cursory glance through this post and didn't see it, so if this has been reported, apologies. I was testing hyperlinking in a private article to myself so that WHEN (not if) I botched it, it wouldn't cloud the public atmosphere. I found that if you don't close the quotation marks on the url i

Well I'll give SPM that. 140. He has transcended comedy. He has actually *become* the fart joke. Cheerio ole chap pip pip eh wot? Me, I swung a 70. Not even close. Favorite Jack Handey - "...Because what IS that thing?"

No, hadn't heard it, but deftness at answering such things is NOT necessarily a good thing. It has been said that for some puzzles, the smarter you are the longer they take to figure out. I figured this one out in about ten minutes, so I accept I must be a moron . Link

Question from one of your readers. What are your music credentials? What do you play? Where were you trained? I have read several of your reviews, and I'd be very interested to hear about your own musical abilities and experiences from which I assume you draw your musical opinions. Most of the "music" reviews I read are actually "lyrics" reviews that discuss a particular artists "message". That's all fine and dandy unless it is published as a "mu

I recommend Alanon, but I'm no doctor. Alanon is free, fairly easy to find, and it will give you a support group of people that know exactly what you're dealing with. Everyone you meet there will relate whereas it will be hit and miss with professional counseling (or so my personal experience goes) I am no doctor, as I said, but since it's free, you hardly have anything to lose, eh? Best of wishes to you. Take care of you.

Interesting article but why are some people more prone to addictions than others? It's a good point, Gerry, and I have no answer. I have been extremely addictive in all kinds of ways and I can't trace it back to any particular phenomenon. I've had a fairly normal life with most of the strife in it ha

I was just reading a forum post by imajinit regarding a little problem he is facing with a recovering roomate . Normally I don't like to flash my credentials in a blog. It just seems a heavy handed way to establish onesself

I would like to be remembered as someone who gave cause to think critically and fearlessly. To be remembered as having done that humorously is icing on the cake.

There isn't much I get upset by or spooled up about anymore no matter what the topic - terrorism, presidential elections, or the importance of the use of real cheese and not just cheese food products in school lunches. I have sort of hit a point of acknowledgement. Acknowledgement and acceptance that largely it is something I can not change. In a presidential elec

Aye good luck with the job hunt. The T-Ball thing reminds me of a Flintstones episode. Near the end Barney says something about "What they need is the fundamentals" to which Fred, in a shocking display of wisdom inters "What they need is the fun." Since you have time, I'll let you fill in the rest of the commentary Welcome to blogging, please forget that I am

Maybe I am alone here, but I would like to know why you think you are difficult. Is it because people tell you so? That, as I hope you know by now, is not a good reason. So assuming you know that., tell us why you are difficult? Not that I didn't find the rest of your story delightful, I did, but you started out strong with this incredibly direct thesis statement, and now I am left wanting to rea
