As you say, non-subscribers need enough to encourage the community. I think the ideas already suggested about reducing the cap limit and having to purchase whole suites at a higher cost could be worked into that though. Actually, another idea I've just had. May be it would be possible to limit what skins the general public can actually download. At the end of each week, or when the ratings for a skin can be used as a guage, any new skins are tagged as publicly downloadable or not. This

I've read most of this thread with interest, and generally accept that it costs a lot of money to run a site such as WC, but I'm not sure I like the approach suggested by FrogBoy to charge for some skins. I personally think there are a few problems with the approach suggested - here me out, I'm going somewhere with this. - For the most part I'm only interested in Icons and WindowBlinds and don't want to pay $3.50 (or even 50% of that) for a suite of which I'm not going to use half of.<b

With regards to the AVIs with a red background, and the top left magic pink pixel, I think windows works by using whatever colour the top left pixel is to determine the transparency for the AVI. Thanks for the insight. I know what you mean Koasati, I think I'll ever get round to making an icon pack, but I always like to know how things work. It's good to learn The tip about producing a non-alpha blended version for non-XP machines is a good one. I've had a quick play with IconDeveloper, and it does look like a really good way of creating a whole loads of icons. Oh well,

I've always had the idea of creating a skin knocking around in my head, but sadly time is always a limiting factor. However, I was thinking today about the process of creating an icon package to go with a skin. With the miriad of Windows version available, any decent icon package has to consist of something like 3 differently sized icons, all with 3 colour depths, together with another 4 or so for
