Hello there. Today I had meetings at my school about how we're going to proceed with our program. I thought that today was an awesome day as far as the amount of work that we got done is concerned. I am a little dubious about coming in during vacation week though... One of the themes of today's meeting (that I wasn't involved with) was the new Minnesota Social Studies standards. For those of you who aren't teachers: most states in the USA are trying to move t

Hello there! It is Sunday. I hope that you're having a good one. Kazuko, Kentaro, and I are here at home enjoying our Sunday. I am listening to the radio and playing with the computer. Kazuko is feeding Kentaro while watching Animal Planet on TV. There is a cute show about baby bats on right now. (I really like bats. Bats, hedgehogs, and monkeys are my favorite animals.) My sad news is that tomorrow I have to go to work. There are district-wide meetings on Monday and Tu
Hey there friends. I hope that you're having a nice Saturday. I just woke up. I had a bowl of cereal. Kazuko is watching an adoption show while Kenny is sleeping. How cute. Once Kenny wakes up, I think that I will take some pictures of him to put in this weblog (his clothes are pretty cute today!) Last night, there wasn't much on television (typical Friday.) Flipping around the channels, I found "Happy Gilmore" on the USA network. Even though I have seen this movie a bun
Hello there friends. Here we are: one day from Christmas Vacation. I am really looking forward to some time off. I will be happy to be able to spend some more time with Kazuko and Kenny. Yay! The last day at work before the holiday will be interesting. The kids have all sorts of exciting activities in their classes, so I will have to be creative with how I spend my time. Today: I will clean up after my party last night, I will visit all of my students in class to give them presen
Happy Wednesday! I hope that Christmas shopping is going well for all of you. Like I had written earlier, I haven't started yet. I intend to initiate the scramble once Christmas vacation starts at school. I hope that there will be good stuff left at the stores! According to the headline, this article is about watching "Seinfeld." Sitting at home tonight, I had the opportunity to watch four straight episodes of Seinfeld (as long as I could change channels at the right times.
Hello there, As you may have read in my last weblog entry, I have been trying to recover from a cold. It does seem that I have turned the corner, and am getting better rather than worse. Hooray for me! All I need is fluids, rest, and time to recover. I hope that I will get better by the time Christmas Vacation starts next week! -It is really hard to be sick on my own dime. I was afforded a little time to recover today. At 4:30 in the morning, my wife received a ca
Hey there friends! I hope that you're having a lovely night. Kazuko and I are just up watching television. Kenny is happily asleep in bed. How cute! My sad news is that I am currently battling a cold. I have a cough and a stuffed nose. I also just don't feel 100 percent. I suppose that looking at all this from a "glass is half-full" perspective: at least I will get this over with before Christmas Vacation rather than during. (Although I hope that I feel better
It seems that the news outlets in the US are going wall-to-wall with the capture of Saddam Hussein. That was a surprise, wasn't it? (Didn't Hussein look like Ted Kaszynsky upon capture?) Of course with the coverage, there is the obligitory footage of people firing guns into the air in celebration. I'll tell you what: I really don't think that's a good way to celebrate. It is bad for the hearing of the onlookers, as well as dangerous for whoever may be in the path of the bullet as it
Hi there friends! I hope that you had a nice weekend. I am here, updating my weblog before I go to watch some Sunday night television. (I hope that "The Practice" isn't a re-run tonight!) We had a happy weekend. My mom and dad were here from Duluth. On Saturday, Kazuko and her mom and a lot of people from my family celebrated a baby shower for Kenny. That was a nice time. Usually men don't come to these sorts of events, but I stuck around to help translate for my mother-i
Hey there friends! I had a happy night chatting with my parents. It was good. Other than that, I don't have much to say. I am awfully happy that it is the weekend! Yay! Christmas Vacation is coming awfully soon! Hooray!
Hi there. Happy Thursday! Tomorrow is finally Friday. Yay! Before I know it, I will be enjoying Christmas vacation. I hope that it doesn't come too fast though. I still haven't started Christmas shopping yet. Like my headline says: it was a pretty ordinary day today. I went to work, came home, had leftovers for dinner, watched Smackdown! and ER, and basically enjoyed the evening with Kazuko, Kenny, and Kazuko's mom. Among the nicer things that happened today were
I remember all of that Dena. (Your name is surprisingly hard to type...) I liked bringing you in there. You were such a sweetie. You still are!
When I was in high school, I worked at a Bonanza restaurant. I worked there for about three years. It was a really good part-time job. I have lots of good memories from those days. I also learned a lot about working, cooking foods, and building friendships. The restaurant was a place where a family could get a lot of food for a reasonable price. Dinners included an all-you-can-eat salad bar, along with a steak, chicken, or seafood. The food wasn't always the highest-quality, but i
After I wrote my last blog entry, Kenny started smiling. Here are a few video captures that we took while he was sitting on my lap. Cute, huh? <img src= "http://www.geocities.com/chipperprime/Dec9SmileyIII.jpg" width="720" height="48
Hey there! I hope that Tuesday was a good day for all of you. I had a nice day. Work went well. I had a nice time with my students today. I also got a haircut on my way home. I look even more like Kenny now (especially when his hair stands up after he takes a bath.) -I will see about getting a picture up of the new haircut later this week. Anyway as I was driving home today, I heard the news that the Minnesota Twins (my favorite sports team) lost their closer to the Seatt
Hello there. I hope that all of you are enjoying your Monday night! I was exhausted after I came home from work today. Once I got home, I cuddled up with the baby and slept for an hour-and-a-half. Now I feel a lot better. I have been pretty tired lately. I am thinking that there are a number of factors that are combining to make me tired. The first is that it is dark when I go to work in the morning, and it is almost dark when I come home. It is kind of like that "seasona
Hey there. Happy Monday morning to all of you! I hope that you're having a good start to your work-week. The biggest sports news (here in Minnesota) as far as I am concerned is: the Twins signed Shannon Stewart to a three-year contract. He really helps the team. It will be a good thing if the Twins and Eddie Guardado can agree to salary arbitration. Now that they have that taken care of, I am convinced that the team will be at least better-than-terrible next y
At least I didn't have to hear Peter Criss singing...
Hey there! Well it is Sunday night. Another weekend flew by. It was fun though. I enjoyed shopping on Saturday and relaxing at home on Sunday. (The Vikings won. That was good...) One thing that I saw on television this weekend was "Spice World," the Spice Girls' movie. It was playing on Saturday morning on the USA network. I ended up watching the last 45 minutes of the movie. After watching the movie, I am now able to distinguish between the individual members of the gr
To put pictures on my weblog, I store the photos in my geocities.com account. With those, I use html code to insert the pictures into my website. "Jilluser" referred me to this website. Maybe it will be useful. http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_examples.asp Have a nice day, Jamie Burnside
Hello there friends! I hope that you're all haviong a happy weekend. I am. Today was Kazuko's birthday. We went to Saint Paul to have lunch at the Mirror of Korea restaurant. Kazuko ate Bi-Bim-Bop, I had Bul-go-gi (yakiniku,) and my mother-in-law had some sort of seafood soup. That was a nice lunch for all of us. Besides lunch, we did a little shopping. We went to the Korean grocery store to get a little food and to rent some Japanese videos. We went to S
Hi there again! Over the past two-to-three months, I had been making a habit of watching "So Graham Norton" on BBC America nightly from 10:00-11:00 PM. Beginning last Monday however, the show was removed from the daily lineup. Looking at the BBC America website, I learned that it won't be coming back any time soon. The good news is that we will be able to see the show on Comedy Central beginning some time next year. I am wondering whether that will be a mixed blessing. If t
Hey there my friends. It is finally the end of a long week. It was a strange week. I wasn't any busier than usual, but I feel more tired than I usually am at the end of the week. Coming home tonight I was able to eat a nice "Karaage" (fried chicken thighs) dinner after cleaning the hedgehog cages. fter dinner, I fell asleep on the couch. When I woke up at 8:30 PM I noticed that everyone else in my family was already in bed! Not necessarily what one would consider a "craz
Hello there. Thanks for coming to read my blog. I always appreciate as many readers as possible. Like my headline says: There is only one day left until the weekend. I think that I need the rest this weekend. After a long Thanksgiving holiday, the kids came back to school like little angels. By around Wednesday of this week, I noticed a big spike in the energy level of my students. I think that "cabin fever" is setting in. Because of this, has been taking a little extra from me
According to the counter on the top of my page, this will be the forty-seventh weblog article that I have written. Scrolling down to the bottom of the page, I can see which search engines have lead the various readers to my weblog. Looking at the "search" section of the weblog is really interesting. It is sort of a barometer of what people are searching the internet for, and how that relates to my own life experience. The following items are topics which have brought the most
