Hello there. Happy New Year! With the new year comes the end of New Year's break. The kids and teachers come back to school. Even though I was sad to end my vacation, I was pleasantly surprised at how happy I was to see the kids when we got back. (I would still rather stay home with my wife and baby though!) The kids are very industrious and attentive right after break. I have gotten a lot done with the kids during the first couple days. Of course I don't think that this

Hello there! It is Sunday. That means that I have to go back to work tomorrow. So long Christmas Vacation! Thank goodness that I like my job, otherwise I would me miserable. So you may ask: How did I spend my last day of vacation? Kazuko (my wife) and I watched a few hours of biographies on VH1. Apparently today was a special day, where young female pop soloists are featured. We watched shows on Britney Spears, Pink, Jessica Simpson, and Christina Aguilera. Those sho

Still, the MOST famous Japanese musicians aren't exported yet. I wonder whether we'll ever see the likes of Morning Musume, or Utada Hikaru, or Hamasaki Ayumi in North America. Bands like PUFFY and Pizzicato Five are popular on this side of the Pacific Ocean because they're something that our native popular music doesn't offer.

I have been recently visiting a message board about the "World Idol" competition. I was trying to gauge who people around the world would expect to win. Unfortuantely, that message board is FULL of people who have some sort of "irrational" attachment to certain "talents" in the competition. Frankly, I found it quite frightening. Nonetheless, I had a crush on Liz Phair for a while when I was in college. Her recent comeback and repackaging have reminded me of that. -Trust me though:

I think that I would like "Spanish Flea" (by Herb Alpert,) or "Manah Manah" ("by" the Muppets.) When I give my baby son to my wife to be breast-fed, I like to hum the Darth Vader theme from Star Wars. It is kind of his de-facto theme song. Clever question/ topic!

Hi there everyone! I hope that all of you are having a nice Saturday. Kazuko and I had some fun. After relaxing all day, we brought out the "Dance Dance Revolution" game. We danced for about an hour. It is really good exercize. We haven't played DDR in quite some time. When we lived in an apartment, our playing time was a bit limited as we had downstairs-neighbors. Once we moved into a house, we finally had the freedom to play the game, but Kazuko was pregnant.

Hello there and Happy 2004! Kazuko and I just got back home from enjoying our third-anniversary dinner. We visited a new sushi restaurant in Crystal, Minnesota. The name of the place is "Wild Mint." While we were there, we enjoyed some fried mackeral i‚³‚ñ‚܁Aj baked scallopsi‚Ù‚½‚āAjand a ten-item sashimi dish. We were pretty pleased with the food there. I think that it is the second-best place for Japanese food that we've been to in the Twin Cities area (the best being "Or

Hey there friends! I hope that New Year's preparations are going well. I don't necessarily have anything special planned. I know that Kazuko and I will watch the "Ko-Haku" (Red and White Song Contest. (The Red and White Song Contest is a yearly showcase of popular music in Japan. It is played each New Year's Eve.) I am also looking forward to watching the "World Idol" results show. I hope that Kurt from Norway does well... Today was a good day. My wife and I drove to the

Yeah, a peek at the jail was kind of an interesting life experience. It looked just like the jail on TV. Anyway like you said TexasNurse, I am sure that a number of people get "institutionalized." I can imagine that leaving prison after being there for a long time can be like moving and getting a new job at the same time. Both are stressful life experiences.

Hey there MFC, I read some of your blog posts. Good job. Isn't it crazy that people read this stuff? I totally hear you. Thanks for responding to my daily message. You're awesome. Enjoy upstate New York. Have a happy drive up to Montreal some day to cut loose.

Hey there. Since I am on Christmas vacation from teaching school, my wife and I have the rare opportunity to get as many errands done as possible before I have to go back to work. Looking through our various papers, my wife and I found that we needed to turn in our son's registration at the county office for a birth certificate by today. I thought that it wouldn't be so bad. Well... Wright County Minnesota (where we live) has an extraordinarily understaffed DMV office

Hello there. I hope that you're having a happy Sunday. I just finished watching a couple of hours of "I Love the '80s Strikes Back" on VH1. I usually enjoy watching that series, along with the "I Love the '70s" shows. One thing does bug me however. There is this guy on the show named Michael Ian Black. Apparently this guy stars on some show named "Ed." Now I haven't ever seen "Ed," and I have never heard of this guy outside of the "I love the..." series. T

Hello there my friends. I hope that you are all having a happy day. I had kind of a sleepy day. I slept late and I took a nap. I suppose that is why we have vacation days. It was really quite nice. I like to spend some time sleeping. Kazuko and Kenny took a nice long nap with me too. How fun! After getting up, neither of us had the energy to cook anything for dinner. I decided to run out to Taco Bell (a commercial had just come on.) When I was there, I was struck w

If Will is good in general, he wasn't so good in particular last night. I suppose we'll have to "agree to disagree." (Sorry to steal Simon's line.) Looking at other forums, there seems to be a lot of Alex (from Germany) fans. They can't seem to accept the fact that he was terrible on Christmas. It is funny how the pop idol finalists are "taken in" by their fans. So much emotional attachment is established during the competition that by the end, it is hard to look at our fav

Last night we all gathered together around the television to watch "World Idol." For those of you who don't know: "World Idol" took the winners of twelve countries' idol shows, and pitted them against each other to determine a world winner. Kelly, the original American Idol, performed on that show. Since she seemed to be a lot better than the competition, I think that the main battle will be for second place. Kazuko and I both voted for the Norwegian guy. He had the best voice, and

Hi there friends. I hope that you're celebrating a happy holiday season, and that you've gotten everything that you need from the grocery stores until they open up again. My family and my parents are at my house, waiting for my sister and her boyfriend to get here from the Duluth-area so that we can open up Christmas morning presents. Yay! I wonder what I got. It seems that there is a new holiday tradition starting in America. It is an import tradition from the United Kingd

Hello there! Happy Christmas Eve eve to all of you. Kazuko and I have just gotten back from dinner at Perkins. I had a yummy honey mustard chicken sandwich, and Kazuko had a fish sandwich. (I had a bite of it. It seemed good enough.) The happiest news of the day is that my Christmas vacation has officially started. After two days of meetings at the school, I can finally kick-back and relax. Yay! I am looking forward to having about two weeks to enjoy with my family.<
