Well, I decided to go ahead and post a few of my ship designs. In mine, I'll try to make use of the new 1.1 Beta rotation and copy/paste tools to nice effect. I'll be using ImageShack for these, so I apologize if the URLs come out funny. All of these ships are from the Drengin Empire, and so will have some distinctly...Klingon-esque names. First, there's the Jhud'rkith 2-B, a constructor vessel in my way - a construction tool within a sort of open assembly bay. h

For bigger ships, specifically, you need bigger hulls. The progression is roughly - Advanced Hulls, Medium Hulls, Superior Hulls, Large Hulls, Massive Hulls...or something like that. Hull Tech is what's needed to get bigger ships capable of mounting more weapons. For more stuff on those ships, go for Miniaturization (starting with Basic Computing or something like that). And for more ships in a fleet, Logistics...or, you can do what I do and go for a m
I rather like the new way of it, because it also allows me to change bits of jewelry to reflect a partial design change - after all, sequential upgrades of real life units look similar, but not EXACTLY like, the original unit. Josh_88's suggestion of waiting until improved weapons or defenses come along to add those as well. If you upgrade every time you get a new weapon, engine or defense, you soon become inundated with ship designs that may not be vi
You know, I kind of agree. The "good" news bot looks entirely too...cartoony. Something more appealing might work out better...like using a Pamela Anderson base. XD
Well, I wonder if I need to up the difficulty for my own games...I played a Power Duel with the Drengin on Cakewalk, but after I assaulted one planet (failed that one tho) they surrendered to me... Maybe I should try Normal...for once. XD
Oh dear...it appears like this may not just be a bug, but a potential exploit too. If it were possible to build Star Raiders for tiny ship prices...even BEFORE weapons are researched...or really, being able to build Star Raiders at all, but especially before weapons research. That could completely unbalance a game. The only solution I can think of right now would be simply to not name any ship a Star Raider, or if you do, add on some kind of
A curious bug from out of game...I think this may be somewhat unique... I can't access the Saved Games and Preferences folder for some strange reason. I can load and save games fine in game, but when I try to access the folder they're in out of game, I can't find it in my documents anywhere. Tried a number of things - looking through Stardock Central (no option for that kind fo thing), showing hidden folders (still nothing)...it just does no
Hello all. I'm not a regular poster to this forum, but I felt that I should air out some opinions about the whole of this expansion. First, I would like to commend Stardock on the effort they did put into their work. It seems like they spent considerable time trying to get things working, and should be commended for the work they continue to put into both GalCiv and Altarian Prophecy. Even so, one does get the feeling that the expansion was a little bit rushed, and that a certain amount
