I don't really view the tiny hull as a fighter hull. Fighters are generally not built with particularly long voyages in mind. Which is why they're completely reliant on easily accessible refuelling and rearming facilities. Each ship you build in GCII has the facilities to spend months in space and travel interstellar distances. Just look at what you have to put on them in game; engines capable of faster than light travel, life support and lifesupport. It just doesn't promot

That idea sounds remarkably similar to one I had involving support ships allowing extended range. Though, to be honest, I thought it would forever remain banished to the dark reaches of my imagination. I do feel however, that these support ships should become a primary target for defending ships, at least under certain circumstances. One example would be for the support ship to be the primary target if some or
I was reading the final draft of the manual and it does discuss both espionage AND destabilisation. I know the manual can sometimes be outdated because it has to be sent off for printing before the game goes gold. It doesn't bother me too much anyway as I never found too much use for it in the original GalCiv. I'm not that kind of player. I only use espionage until I have enough info on them to know how big a threat they are. I always found that it was too inconsequential.
Nothing wrong with Simon's suggestion. After all, if you don't ask, you don't get.
I think some people have been reading Penny Arcade. I completely agree with Trent on Warhammer. Absolutely fantastic game. I've not even tried it's multiplayer ('cause I always get whipped like a flea-bitten mongrel on ANY MP), though the AI in the skirmish is suitably aggresive for my taste. The campaign maps and scenarios are just right in my book. It allows you to form choke points and sit back for a breather
Hmm, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that I'll probably not be getting it on the 21st either, considering you'll be shipping it over to the UK. Ah well, thank goodness for electronic download.
Urm, great report and all but..... did you HAVE to give away the fact that there's a surprise at the end of the campaign. Where's the surprise in knowing that there's a surprise?
I too would be happy if they only introduced the percentage idea. My invasion idea is just a little fantasy I know will never be realised in GC2. Probably for the best too, I'm the kind of person who'd end up putting it all to auto resolution once I'd played with it for a while anyway.
I feel that only a percentage of a population should be allowed to fight for the defending planet. Different races could have different percentages. Also, a personal wish for me would be to overhaul the actual invasion. For instance, at the actual invasion, the world screen should show with all the inhabitable squares. Depending on the size of the attacking force in relation to the defending force, you can select up to 4 squares to invade (more with proper research). Your troops would
Personally, I think the Excalibur was MUCH more a superweapon than the terror star. More hit points than I can count, armor thicker than my skull, and speed which would rival me running from those high school bullies. Terror stars were just there to wipe out planets that weren't worth taking in my opinion (though I love them just the same). By the time you destroyed all of an enemy empire's planets, you could have taken th
O.K. I'm gonna add in my own 2 cents worth of rather uninformed opinion. This is based on the assumption that combat takes place over turns, which I'm not too sure of as I've not had the privilage of playing. Legendde, you were saying how it was unfair to have a capitol ship's extra weapons wasted by not being able to kill multiple enemies in a single turn. However, perhaps I could propose that we look at a 'turn' in another way. Afterall, each turn is basically
I like terror stars, nothing says uv been pwned like watching your terror star destroy your enemy's most productive planet. In saying that though, I'm much too excited about all the other cool features in the game to make too much of a fuss about not having what was basically a mop up unit anyway. Though I would like them to make an appearance in the expansion pack if they're not going to be in for release.
Vagabond, how was the survey flawed? From what you have posted it looks as if Stardock were looking for the one VERY time consuming task that potential buyers of the game wanted. You yourself say that if given the choice, you would pick ship design before multiplayer. I think people should perhaps look at this a different way. Multiplayer is not the be all and end all of a game. Would any of us sacrifice all the cool extras that are in the single game so Stardock could desi
Legendde, at least wait until you play the game before deciding whether or not you'll enjoy playing it. Frogboy has already stated his case regarding the lack of MP over several posts on different threads. I happen to agree with the bossman on this one, it's not worth pouring a significant part of a game's budget into a feature that will not be used by most of the people buying the game. This way, the people who aren't
