are the uis2 frames and perpixel frames broken up differently (top/left/right/bottom). seems that in perpixel the top stretches across the top while the uis2 top only stretches to the left/right borders. I haven't applied any perpixel work cause it just looks wierd on the SS6 edit page? just wondering out loud here.

just wondering if someone may know a decent tutorial on how to make rounded images that have a gradient type alpha channel. my alpha channels come out with sharp edges (black and white). I have looked at some alpha channels that have gradient gray areas that seem to blend the image to reduce these sharp edges. how do I do this????
There are several areas in SKS6 that when I go to open the image for editing, PaintShop Pro starts to open, but then it just closes.
would these by chance be; edit uis2 frames, edit control panel shell style, edit shell style icons and pictures and edit shell style bars and arrows. these are the ones that are giving me connips.

nope, I have already saved the files as png's and imported them as png/tga's but they still won't open. I may not be understanding you, are you suggesting to import as a png and turn of the conversion to tga, or still let the SS6 convert the file?
Good luck
Goldwing, thanks for you suggestions. even after performing a "save as" I still am unable to open those file from sks. I have talked with support before, the last sent report was 6/28 for which there has been no response. looks like something I need to work around for the time being.
every time i tried in psp sks said it was invalid, wrong or just plain corrupt
Bichur, I have been struggling with psp also and have made some headway with png and tga formatting. If you'd like, privite message me and I would be more than happy to share/impart whatever information might be useful.

Just to be sure, the main gripe was that the history for the upgrade for SS6 was not provided. I am having a number of issues with it and WB6. not being able to open files, corrupted WB6 presentations, etc. I don’t really think that I am the only one encountering issues. I search the forums, I email tech support but alas the solutions are not readily forthcoming or available. I would like things to work as they are touted to do. (probably just wishful thinking, but…) I would like not to have to

I was just getting ready to uninstall SS6 and revert back to just using SS5 as I am encountering way to many issues with the program and with the resultant presentation. Going to object desktop, I was informed that SS6 has an update HOWEVER , the history information is all about pre6.0 issues. Deciding not to install the update and see if there was more information under the object desktop heading HOWEVER I did not even find the update mentioned as being avail

I have four edit pages in SS6 that I am unable to open any of the files via the "edit" button. attempting to open any of the images in PSP7 brings up an error window stating "unable to open the file". anyone with any thoughts on wha

Nope, although I have looked these over and have found them helpful. I'm referring to the "help" tabs found in the edit windows (ss6) that state, "get help on this section from the wiki" which provides a link to a usually "empty" page. side thought: how do I insert an image with my replies? when I click on "insert image" it presents me with a URL window to use?

I think having the wiki information is a great tool to better understand a specific component when working on skins. but alas, the majority of the time that I check for wiki info the page is blank. I can only speak for myself but it would be nice for you really experienced skinners to impart some of that arcane/esoteric knowledge regarding obscure components of a skin. :)

yeah, that's what I thought but just want clarification to be sure. premultiplied alpha appears to be an adobe thing and not relevant to PSP, which is what I use. thank you for your response

I remember a guy getting busted for breaking car windshields, guess what business he was in. avg free windows firewall spybot both zone alarm and avg do not provide support for their free versions. with avg it hasn't been a problem. zone alarm was another matter, which is why I don't use it anymore.

the files are bmp files that do not open. the "do not convert" box has been unchecked. I actually have had this also occur is ss5 with bmp that were additional types (top frame-text background). SS6 has been converting png into tga files pretty good, which is one of the things I like about it. thanks for responding

I have opened a new skin in SS6. I then select the windows border (top frame) and click on the edit button. psp opens and tells me that it is unable to open the file. I can work around this however since I also encounter problems with tga files it makes me wonder if these two programs are 100% compatible??? any psp 7 users encountering similiar problems???

I am currently using SS5 and just saw that SS6 has been released. I used the beta version but I seem to remember that there were some features blocked off that were usable with SS5. With the new release I’m thi

When going through the forums looking for answers, I at least, miss looking at the posting dates sometimes. Like one said, relevance is revelent. I saw this post and thought to myself, well I know how to do this with PSP, I’ll be nice and pass along what little I do know but it may help someone. I also figured that by answering it my karma level would increase and maybe get an answer to my unanswered question. ;) ;)

XP, WB6, SS5 - logoff, dialog and shutdown background images. I am unable to get SS to recognize created tga files that would be used to replace the "Luna" style bmps I create a graphic, save the alpha channel and save the graphic as a tga file. when I edit the string to access the tga file it recognizes a file that is 0x0 with 0 bytes, instead of what the file really is, which is 313x198 and 56K. I have copied and pasted the pertinent code&
