We're going to have a snowy 25th here in Chapel Hill, Happy Holidays to all.
I agree Navagatsio, especially now that it's the buggiest and slowest of the browsers.
I've heard that it may be slower than other browsers at the moment but buggy I don't agree with.
yes, the links now work, pretty incredible blinds, just goes to show one what can be accomplished.
thank you for the update, hope things get straightened out.
I thought they had it corrected but...
just happen to notice that IR had released a couple of blinds for public consumption, now they're gone. also notice that pages 5 and 6 of the master blinds is bonkers at the moment. will these blinds be released or...
it is so frustrating to have a blind that should be listed under "popular windowblinds" for the number of downloads only to have it not listed. If you all can't keep it accurate, why have it at all.
sydneysiders, never visited the forums with flash enabled, you have an animated avatar, outstanding.
hey phoon.
Yes....the days of 256k of memory are gone.....get over it. You have 12 GB!!
sure, why not, I'll give it a go. is on prompt and I'm not one to add superfluous programs but I am installing most of my old programs. I'll look into that program mentioned to bypass re-installation of programs.
thanks again yrag, I'm really a much happier camper at this time, startup time, so far, is faster and consistent, can't ask for much more.
thanks Seth, this is not an easy window to get to. and these settings override both window's action center settings as well as Impulse preferences. I was able to access this screen only by right clicking on the action center icon and then on "settings".
it needed the removal of some dust bunnies. How much dust??
not a lot, some on the bottom of the case and on the V8 radiators. I clean the outside vents/grills about once a month and the insides about every 6 months.
I agree, Greg... why turn it off? I don't think it'll prolong the life if kept in a well ventilated area (and use Jafo's trick of some t.p. over the fan to keep out the dust).
was actually glad to open the case, it needed the removal of some dust bunnies.
shouldn't there be an Impulse forum? I have impulse now set to hide icon and notifications (it isn't) I also have impulse set not to load impulse now at start up, but... Is the only way to get rid of impulse now to remove impulse, cause if it is, impulse is history.
Just out of curiosity, why are you turning this thing off at all?
force of habit I guess. back in the days (win3.1/win98) when a boot helped to release memory that some programs hogged onto even when they were shut down. I've equated a clean boot with a clean slate, has that changed? and then there is always the update or new program that requires a reboot, but...
It looks good and it looks something like the last one? you do good work Lightstart, no disrespect in the observation.
wouldn't start with just one memory block. (least I didn't short anything out, whew). put memory back in and booted in 1:10 minutes, did a cold boot at 1:09 minutes.
merry xmas to those of you who celebrate it.
good health to you.
no, that was second on the list, thought you wanted a bios update first. just did a reboot in 2:38, windows is also still updating "stuff". I'll do a restart here... **edit** 1:19 warm boot. I think we're okay with this but I'll do the memory thing but need to get a anti-static strap first. last time I added memory to my wife's work computer, well... maybe it just needed a little burn in time???
Do the basic Windows install and time the boot, if it's still slow, than address the bios issue
We have reached that level, ye old peter principle. I'm not sure what exactly to do at this point. here are the selections from the wizard results with utilities open. the BIOS (14) are rom files most with words like "for use with new CPU..." the bios update tool Afud
I thought all this was supposed to shorten the boot time....
well, 6 minutes compared to 25+ is shorter and it did boot and didn't need to be reset. thanks 2of3, got it.
I tried mses but the user interface kept popping up upon boot for no apparent reason, so I dropped it and went back to avg. thanks for the update I'll give it another try.
first morning boot after re-install and it took forever, 6+ minutes but it booted. system and avg took 3 minutes alone. on the good side, it did boot, I have a fresh install of windows, my apps have been pared down, everything loaded okay and I was able to switch from eudora to outlook, long story... (entering addresses will be a pain but the wife says she'll help if I put them in a spreadsheet for her). Impulse Now is more than slightly obnoxious (resident evil) glad it
well that was friggin' easy. I even booted twice from the dvd to see if I could muck it up, it didn't. thanks for all the advice and help from everyone and especially Gary (yrag), what can I say but, "you're the Man".
