I do tend to find myself really frustrated at the game. Partly because I feel I'm encountering the same underlying logic the drove me away from playing another Civ game. The assumption that it's me against all the computer players. I just quit yet another game because a race that's supposedly 'honorable' attacked me with a vengeance and obliterated me. Metaverse Posting in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I'm just curious, how long does it take to post your scores to Metaverse after you complete a game? For me it appears to take upwards of ten minutes or more before I get a response. And I always have to hit Alt-Tab to get it. What happens is I hit Alt-Tab, and then the screen freezes, mouse still moves around so I know it's not a total lockup, and after about 3-5 minutes it will finally minimize the game. When I max it again, I have the standard success message and the score is finally poste

Then the graphic still needs to be incorporated into the game via code, contrary to popular belief, it ain't magic. ;)

Since we are on the subject of reported bugs, I was playing a game late last night and had successfully built my first first Terror Star, (I know, big whoop), and then cruised over to the Drengin empire and laid waste to a star system, then got a peace treaty with them before their ally, and only other remaining player declared war on me, thereby eliminating my trade routes. I repeated the process a few more times, 'cause the graphic was kinda cool, and I just really didn't like the empire.

So how do I go about determining my player name vrs my nickname? I've got 4 games that I have yet to have been able to post, although I get the same messege Submitted:1 Error:0. Well, I did once or twice, the other times I waited 1/2 hour and never got a response at all so I just clicked 'No Thanks' and bailed on it.

I had a similar problem where the game would appear to be frozen, but if I watched closely, the graphics would sometimes move ahead...just a little. I had it set up so I could watch the comps move so I could keep track of them, and it would freeze up when they went to attack each other. I turned off the FX sounds and that seemed to end the freezing problem. Now it plays through like it should. Just need a good soundtrack now... ;)

Restarts in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I was wondering if anybody and/or everybody restarts the game 90% of the time in order to get a decent starting position. I got extremely irritated with Civ III because the algorithm appeared to be designed to place the human player in the worst spot and it seems this game is no different. It routinely takes 10 or more restarts to have a decent position. Am I expecting too much?
