thank you, it could always be some other app or update causing this but when I googled the problem I found the same issue on the fences forum. I really enjoy using the fences to clean up my desktop, it's a really nice app.

The "scanner related" folder was in a rolled up, closed? fence but the scanner app was open on my desktop at the time the folder was renamed. What triggered it was making a create new folder on the desktop, not in a fence, and then naming it for the first time "2001". Somehow that renamed two folders inside two different fences, the scanner related and something else I don't think was even open but I can't remember what that one was. I also have this issue. It will rename seemingly random things inside the fences to something I just did on my desktop. Today it renamed the scanner folder 2001 (2) and something else 2001 (3). I had just made a normal folder of jpegs for 2001 not in a fence, just on the desktop. I did have the scanner on, but the fence was not "open", neither was it for the other thing. Home version windows 11.
