My Heart That Beats the Drum leather on skin the pain and the healing of two cultures both mine and the dominant one the dark shadow across a memory of what could have been a sorrow forever in my heart that beats just like the Drum A World Transformed What dreams of yesterday remain in the hearts of our Children? What do they see when they think of a time called ‘long ago’?<B

Search For Change It wasn’t long before they found her. She had been hiding among the tall trees on the other side of town and she offered no resistance when they reached for her. They hauled her out, one on each side of her. Iron hands gripped her arms, bills floating dreamily from her pockets and now untucked shirt. Nearby, the baby wailed, and she strained to catch a glimpse of one of the officers trying to soothe him while at the same time

Sometimes I don't know why I even bother reading some of the articles here at JoeUser. I know it's going to piss me off before even reading the damned blog, but like a sucker for punishment, I go ahead and do it anyway. You know, I'm pretty much like that in life as well. I remain friends with people who, while I care for deeply, seem to annoy me deeply as well. Not enough to toss the friendship, but just enough to not to want to

My favorite bumpersticker is IF YOU DON'T LIKE CANADA THEN GIVE IT BACK!!! (maybe it helps to know that I am an Anishnaabe-kwe living in Ontario.)

Hey that's good to hear. I'm in the same spot, sort of. My daughter's being moved up to Grade One in a couple of weeks so, I am no longer limited to this part-time job work-at-home stuff that I was only able to do. But, what to do? I've got a couple of choices... there's this computer-related corp. in town that is currently hiring. Not my field, but decent money and benefits. I think I can get in, so there is some hope. The other option is to move t

Nice to hear that you've made everything right in your mind about the night before... family relations are funny, aren't they? My sister and I are the fighters in the family, and recognize that we can ruin many a good night if we would just keep our mouths shut. We try. I know what you mean about the Boss Lady. I mentioned to a friend that I had a nice crush on a mutual friend and she gave me hell because he is going out with another friend o

I think that this is something that I can keep up. Firstly, it's free... no gym memberships. Secondly, I've kind of got a competitive edge. Not with anyone, but with myself. Eventually, I'd like to start doing marathons, although that is waaaayyy in the future. I am trying to do it right by not going overboard, but I have started to look around at other sites that pertain to running/training. Thanks PoetP and all for writing. I'll let you know how it g

I'm not going to kid myself by trying to think that I'm some great athelete. I play b-ball once a week in the winters, two - three times a week in the summer and that's mostly it. Yeah, once in awhile I start up on weight training for a couple of weeks, but I find that to be pretty boring stuff. I swim daily in the summer, but it's not as aerobically-intense (considering I'm a big fan of the run in, get wet, run back out and tan- style swimmer.) <

1. BEST OVERALL ORIGINAL BLOGGER JeremyG... he writes techie shit, stuff from his life, and sets off debates that keep me coming back to see what I've missed. I wish he'd hurry up with his own website already! 2. MOST COMICAL BLOGGER-Muggaz... he makes me laugh out loud! 3. MOST CONTROVERSIAL BLOGGER AnthonyR... The record that brings a grin to my face that's from my record collection is from K-Tel... Funny Funky Hits. Before Rick Dees did the Weekly Top Forty he was responsible for the song Disco Duck... there was Guitarzan on it and a whole shitload of other goofy stuff on it. Just the record for a kid like me.

My CrapComputer is just that... a piece of shit. It's a P1 16 M waste of electronic hardware in today's age of technology. I get booted often from other websites... this old thing just can't handle a whole lot of graphics. And forget about downloading things from the Net... it just won't do it. Now, there are many things on my lists of Must Haves... I must have a new car, I must have a washer/dryer instead of lugging all our laund

I am soooo happy now that I don't have to spend 20 minutes waiting for the car to warm up. It won't move until it hits the right temperature and today, I was out of the driveway like that . Yes, Kole and I have been going for walks, playing outside together more, and she was asleep five seconds after she hit the pillow. Gotta love that.

I really hate it when people make judgements about other people and feel that it's all right to do so, because they've got religion. I realize that Muggaz left the front door open when deciding to post about a religious topic, but I don't know if that gives anyone the right to slam his credibility. Like Ben stated, there are hundreds of different religions, many that refer to their higher power as God... but it doesn't make them all one and the same.

Size="2" Color="000000"> Maybe I am getting older, but I think that I look more 'polished' when wearing makeup. Mind you, I hate wearing it, and only do so for the big occassions... weddings, funerals, job interviews, offical picture-taking occasions. I'm not big on foundation and don't have more than the odd lipstick, blush and eyeshadow... all that is enough for me. As far as kids go, my dau

I just have to admit that I'm a chicken. I saw my twin get an eyebrow ring done (I was supposed to get mine done, too.) and that was enough for me. As for tattoos, I always said that if I was ever going to get one, I'd get a little tiny heart. With the words love me tender around it. On my ass. Generally, people don't know if it's a joke, or not.

The Urban-Faery recently posted an interesting article concerning The Vagina Monologues, written by Eve Ensler. The celebration of vaginas is not pornographic, not lesbian, and certainly not worth over 80 related posts that literally has nothing to do with The Vagina Monologues at all. Instead, Urban-Faery's blog spiralled down into inanity simply becaus

This current fad of dieting until practically nothing is awful. Granted there are some girls out there with extremely high metabolisms that do look that thin and hate it. Unfortunately, for most, it is anorexia, not just anorexic-looking. But look what happens when those girls stop with the insane dieting. Christina Aguilera and Rene Zewelleger come to mind. Both look good at a healthy weight... even a few pounds over, but felt that their careers neede

Yes, I am a person with habits. Nothing too weird, or unmentionable, but habits nonetheless. Whenever I find a stray hair elastic or barrette around the house, instead of putting it away, I either pocket it, or worse, put it in my hair. Not necessarily properly either. One more than one ocassion, I have walked out of the house with a lone ponytail coming from the top of my head. Likewise, I have had cheap, plastic barrettes holding

I lean in favor to Pixar. As a parent, there is just so much that I can take, coming from Disney. The images they present are something I don't really want my kid to see. (Every girl is a princess, waiting for her prince. Yeah, they might start out spunky, but they end up in a pretty subservient situation.) I'm really hoping that Pixar keeps up the good work. Their brand of humor is funny for adults and the stuff that is risque flies over kids' heads a

I've decided to change my links around a bit. The blogs that I've taken off my list, I still read regularly, but if referrals is a good way to let other people know who else is out there... I'll do my part. There are a lot of interesting blogs out there, so I think I am going to be switching it up on a more regular basis. The only problem that I do have with this, is that I have a hell of a time with the Create Custom Links section. I can reg

Ben, I took a stroll on over to your site and I must say... I like it. Well, almost all of it, except for the Calculus one. And that might not have been your fault, really... I just hate Calculus period. My eyes started to automatically glaze over after reading the title. At first, I was bothered about the length of it. Mind you,
