Hi, my name is Angloesque, and I'm addicted to Romantic Comedies. One weekend I checked out "While You Were Sleeping" on a seven-day rental and watched it six times. No, eight times. Whatever. (I was 16, okay....) I also watch "Bridget Jones' Diary" at least once a month, usually accompanied by chocolate, while my knight in shining tin foil/aluminum is playing Warcraft II/Doom/other testosterone-pumping, wife-ignoring games. Okay, I'm done. N
Angloesque
Also Huckleberry Festival, with I attend annually. Um, isn't "soiree" a word you're not allowed to use outside of Manhattan and London? -A.
[steals "Off the Interstate" idea, runs to patent office/publisher] I'd buy it. We have a lentil festival. I've lived in the place for 20 or so years and have never gone, thanks in part to what my mom likes to call "lentil loaf" and I call "sickness baked too long and covered with ketchup."
What, everyone doesn't love America? Oh no! My world is falling in! What am I going to do? I have nothing left to believe in! I'm going to become bitter and cynical and anarchical.... Michael, michael, michael. Best of luck.
Did you ever think not all countries want to be like the United States? That countries have been doing fine without the European and American occupation. No, I assumed that everyone wanted to be our clone. That's why everyone loves America, dummy. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=c
Whoops. Converted the wrong way.
Sarah said, "Men who have a lot of sex, random or otherwise, are considered studs, and women who do the same are called sluts" Don't you think this is changing now? I used to frequent a bride's forum where there were often raunchy threads about how many lovers they'd had, etc., and many were not shy about revealing their scores of lovers prior to their husbands (hopefully prior, that is). They, the women, berate virgins for waiting 'til their
I wouldn't presume to critique that, but I just wanted to say, v. clever title. Cheers. -A.
Tell me what we have accomplished? If you have a dad and two cousins over there, they should be able to tell you what the media doesn't seem to be able to say. There is major reconstruction going on, schools opening, hospitals improving, businesses restarting. And even though I don't think we should've
It was their insolence on par with the littering that really got to me. Grr.
The only thing I envy about it, which I should've made clearer, was that it was personal. I did get one rejection from an editor via e-mail that may have been personal, but it didn't discuss my work at all. Small press rejection. Come to think of it, no, I wouldn't want a critique like that. It looks like a stinger. I have to say it does seem overblown, so I guess I agree with stevendedalus there. When you read that poem now, what do you think
I'm a die-hard Broncos fan and if Clinton Portis hadn't run off when bigger money came his way, I'd be giving you a big "Whatever!" but, alas, I have to admit I'm not sure how the AFC will shape up this year. My NFC Bowl prediction: Seahawks for NFC. Maybe Redskins since Portis went there.
Yes sir, that smiley face at the end should show you how high this ranks on my list of "MAJOR concerns." --"Sir" and "Dude" Angloesque.
Hmm. I feel like a second-rate writer since I haven't gotten any critiques like that. Seriously. I get the run-of-the-mill kind and if anything, maybe they're worse because I feel so mediocre and dime-a-dozen. The worst criticism I ever got was when I was a college newspaper editor and we ran a story about a student getting arrested for a DUI (happened right outside the office, how could we not notice?). Someone wrote in and accused us of putt
Muggaz, you made my night. Hooray for Aussies, eh? ....Wait, I'm flipping between threads.... Aaaaaaaaaargh. JU is too diversified, what with Texans, Aussies, Englishmen (cough), and expats.... *sigh*
Er, sorry, that was for Zoo. I was flipping between threads whilst writing this and not paying attention.
Thanks Zoo and TW. You both crack me up from time to time, too. Long live teenagers, eh?
I hate teenage girls. Not all teenage girls, actually; just the sixteen-year-olds driving brand new Mitsubishis who toss their burning carcinogenic litter out the window and then flip me off when I honk at them, and insolently flip another smoking piece of tobacco at the light just before they turn off. Now let me
Gideon, Bush did campaign in OR and WA, both of which are more liberal than swing. I can't remember seeing a Dem in ID or MT in a long time, though I've not always been interested in politics and may not have noticed.
I rarely revert to this, but ... LMAO at my own private joke right now!
But doesn't the majority already rule? NY, CA, FL, TX, and other populus states already have more votes than the ones I noted. Proportionately it would be a great deal wider were it a popular vote but you can't deny it's already there.
Re: two blogs... As I recall someone actually did set up two blogs, presumably using separate e-mail addresses, but I think he got called by the moderator who checked his IP address or something. There was a bit of a nasty exchange, as I recall. And I don't know why the moderator called him--I've always wanted to have an alter ego to argue with myself. Then I could give my articles more points. (Dammit, I'm a point whore....) I think
Gideon, I hear you. I should've written "there are ironies here" rather than just one, because the one you pointed out isn't the one I was thinking of. Related, however. --she says ambiguously.
terpfan1980, not that you're not entitled to arrogance and an opinion, but it might be nice to only display one at a time, preferably the latter. For everyone: I have a hypothetical question: would it be possible to require presidential candidates to go to each state at least once if we did away with the electoral college? And what president wants to admit he's not coming to Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Alaska, and other low populus
There's an irony here that I haven't the guts to point out..... *sigh*
