If you play games with 1.49K, save your game with a unique name after you reach victory condition but before last ship performs movement and starts victory movie. You should be able to reload and press spacebar for last ship and win game when the new build (presumably 1.49L) is available. As far as your last game, go back to most recent save and play as close to victory as you can get before victory movie starts, then save with unique name so you can finish it quickly when next build i

OK I figured out why appears that it subtracts immediately sometimes and sometimes not. It depends on what happens directly after an upgrade. Case #1 When I know I have a number of constructors arriving at various starbases, I usually do the upgrade that requires BCs last. In this case the BCs from the last upgrade do not subtract until you press the "turn" button. Case #2 A contructor arrives at starbase that really needs an upgrade that requires BCs, so I up
Ouch!!! Now that is nasty! Conversely, people have won games when all of the evil empires' planets converted while playing good. Probably, all homeworlds should be immune to "fundy" conversion in order to make people earn their wins and losses.
Hmmm.. Just played game using 1.49K and the subtraction problem seems to be gone in current build. So you can ignore my previous post about that.
It may have given the wrong message
As far as I can tell this message only pops up if the cost of the module takes your BC total below zero. One problem is that if you have 150 BC total to spend and you buy a 100 BC module for a starbase, the 100 BC does not immediately get subtracted from your total. It gets subtracted at the very end of your turn just before the AI runs its turn. If you don't pay attention to your total before and after you buy the first module, you loo
If you're not using a custom map, open your prefs.ini before starting a new game and remove the key CustomMap
Request for clarification: By removing CustomMap key , does this do anything else, besides removing custom map from preferences screen? I removed key and played a medium maso winning by alliance victory. This game gave same message about "scenarios not being submittable" Was it supposed to be allowed to be submitted by above action or did I misin
Those of you who are getting the message about not being able to submit with scenarios when you are not playing with scenarios, are you playing with Custom Maps
No, custom map was a "blank". Thanks for the temp fix.
However, I had "Close" relations with the Alts for several turns without winning
Your right this is messed up. You should win immediately after getting "close" relations. I can see how that would add to your frustration with a scenario that you didn't like to begin with.
That isn't the purpose of that campaign. In the future, some players may build a campaign I find interesting. I expect that will happen
Exactly. That's why I'm playing th
Scenario 2... I definately do not like it.Here's the constructive comments:I'm a builder. The scenario was really ticking me off, as it is purely a military problem.
Actually 2 is a purely diplomatic problem. You only need to get close relations with Altarians to win. In fact beating the Korx is irrelevant ( I won with the Korx still having a system). Freighters and high diplomacy with relatively few defense ships (no higher than battleaxe are required). You need to make
Close relations with Altarians means victory
To win you need the to get from "friendly" to "close" relations. Try gifting the Altarians techs, ships, BC, or even a system or two. As long as you have one system left when relations become close you win.
I also found that an alliance win was unsubmittable. In addition, although the campaign saves now showed up in save/load menu, they could not be deleted using the del button even though the del button would delete normal games. I had to exit game and manually delete the campaign saves from the campaign save folder.
Um, I already said that I was going to make it also work through the normal save/load dialog
I understood this. It just seemed to make "reset" button redundant.
But the reason that the reset button is there is because the Select Campaign screen gives you status on how far you are along in the campaign.
Thanx for clarifying the reset button's function. This makes more sense to me! Status info will become more important once there are seve
I agree that the third mission seems unduly hard. Especially for such an early one
I agree. Is there way for me to test the individual scenarios out of order? If this could be done, I could play 4-9 and maybe give some input on whether they need to be reordered within the campaign or toned up or down.
I'm going to be making the changes to show campaign saves in the normal load/save game dialogs. Also, the reset button CAN reset the campaign. You just choose the Restart campaign button. It is also reset in that the game automatically picks your latest save game, so the game you pick when you hit reset may be reseting it to earlier in the campaign. The word "Load" would have been misleading because you aren't immediately loading it when you hit that button. "Change" or "Select" is va
Hmmm... I just finished a "maso" game in which I flipped a number of systems. The key "seemed" to be having culture SBs and/or planets in at least 5 of the 8 surrounding sectors plus significant advantage in universal influence. Localizing influence in one sector is less effective than spreading it over several adjacent sectors.
Just saw today's GNN message from koop about reaching an agreement with Strategy First to release AP in stores in North America during 2nd quarter. :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:
(1.20.085 to 1.20.086
oops should have read "1.20.086 to 1.20.087"
Don't know about 1.21 but there were minor updates today to 1.20 (1.20.085 to 1.20.086), the multimedia, and the manual.
Two new civs: 10/10 -adds to complexity of individual games New ships: 5/10 -I never seem to need to build these new type of ships Campaign: 7/10 -seems to be most beta aspect of game -cause CTDs that main game doesn't have -interface needs polishing -campaign was fun and challeging when not crashing -great potential for fan generated campaigns Editors: no grade -have not really tried them
I've only seen a revolution twice in 20+ games. A message appears that says an opposing empire has undergone civil war/revolution (don't remember exact wording) and several planets have suceeded to form a new empire that now acts like a new minor. The last time I saw it, every Altarian planet joined the newly formed minor empire and Altarians disappeared as a major empire.
Rum and coke
"Perhaps 'reset' needs a more intuitive name like 'load campaign' since at least 2 of us misunderstood it." I second this idea.
I recently had a game that in one single turn, both The Fundamentists appeared flipping several Yor and Dregin planets and the Altarians had a revolution that formed a whole new empire. Needless to say the influence of the map really changed dramatically. Luckily I was good at the time. This kind stuff is what makes the game great. Never a dull moment. ;)
what happens when one civ surrenders to another? Do they get the techs? Answer: no Also the Yor may surrender to any empire (yours included) still alive even if only one is attacking. Another words the Yor might stick it to the Arcean and surrender to you instead. The Arcean might capture 1 tech for every Yor system they sucessfully invade though. Finally planets turned by cultural influence do not yield any techs but all social builds are retained as w
