Since I was at cakewalk and it failed to trigger, it don't think it being at lower levels makes a difference.

Its more that the cultural victory sometimes seems to fail to trigger properly than it not being possible.
It would seem to me that only military victory is working. I never got the cultural victory countdown on my last game even though I had influence over the whole map. I had to "flip" or invade all of the remaining AI planets to achieve victory.
Automated drones? Hmmm...it sounds suspiciously like the Star Trek episode "Doomsday Device"
Hmmm...maybe keep the basic improvements available until a certain number of tiles are improved then drop them from the list (say 3-4 zones) if more advanced ones are available. After x number of zones have been improved, then the upgrade process starts. This way you can build 1 basic factory or more before upgrading automaticly occurs.
I didn't think about it until you two guys mentioned it but I hardly ever use the mini-map during games. The main map is just too versatile to waste time looking at the mini-map. It seems that Stardock, by making the main map so great, have made the minimap nearly obsolete.
Now if only I can get my meta problems sorted, I can submit the 6k game I played the other day and at last break my previous high of third place I feel your pain. I cannot send my game either.
Hmmm...I want MORE monsters not less! I favor the idea of monsters spawning in another way instead of anomalies though. Also I wouldn't be opposed to making monsters optional.
Hmmm...not really a problem anymore since the PQ 1-4 planets have been removed from the latest build.
Hmmm...I too had zero problems upgrading and zero problems like the ones you described afterward. BTW I'm using SC build 95. It appears that build 97 might be the culprit for you guys.
Auto-survey seems to not work now, it was fine in B3... hit A while survey ship is selected, or hit the button in the ship window, either way nothing happens. The auto-survey worked fine for me.
Relax! When they give a date for release, the time of release is almost always after the normal workday is finished. So check back this evening for the download.
Well i still think morality should somehow influence war and society in some great way not sure how... Agree. Of course, that was the intent of morality based colonization events, random events, and the morality based technologies. Not sure if more morality influenced aspects of the game would increase the fun factor or just make it more tedio
Hmmm...I think you have things backwards. Evil might retreat without any thought for losses such as planets and population while good might sacrifice itself for the greater good of protecting the population. That being said, I think tying morality to the ability to retreat is not very good idea IMHO.
No, leave it the way it is, the racial traits are perfect, whatever size the scenario is, they're all valuable. I agree, leave it as it is. Speed +1, as well as other attributes, are equally important for vary different reasons on different size maps. If its not broke, don't fix it. There are too many more valuable things that need refining in
Hmmm..my statement might not hold true for GC2, but since we were talking about GC1 where all ships had at least the basic sensor tech, my statement stands as is.
Thanks for the update. I think that I contain my enthusiasm for another few days.
Hmmm...if one could afford to buy warships that also have sensors to a degree, sensor drones quickly became a waste of time and resources. The AI never had a shortage of ships to "see" you with.
Who knew making absolutely no sense could earn a rank increase? Hmmm...it happens all the time in the real world.
I was surprized when beta 3 wouldn't run until I saw this post. I, too, have only a 32MB card at the moment. I am disappointed that I will not be able to participate in the beta test until I can upgrade. Oh well!
Happy Birthday CariElf. I baked a virtual chocolate cake! Enjoy!
Hmmm...then you should have version 71.84. The debug.err report probably has your old drivers listed still.
The latest Nvidia drivers were released earlier this month. Your drivers appear to be from last year according to your report. It seems you need to update them.

And I used: "C:\Program Files\Star
First, when you highlight a saved game and hit delete button nothing appears to happen. The reason for this is that the confimation popup is buried under the open save/load game and settings menus. As soon as you close those windows, you find the confirmation button and can click yes. Its a pain if you want to delete more than one saved game. The second instance of this problem is when you attempt to overwrite a previously saved game, again the confirmation
