Is this a factor of my government?
Yes, the type of governement factor in efficiency in collecting taxes and spending them. When you research a technology that allow a new governement (diplomacy, star democracy, star federation), a popup offers you to change the governement. But no popup appears if you gain them by trade with AI.
In the last galactic civ expansion pack the minors were restricted to their home sectors.
Was it for all levels of difficulty? I was under the impression that at low level, minor would stay in their home sector. But it higher level, they would colonize other sectors.

One thing that was great with MOO1, was the trade-off bewteen old technologies and new technologies when designing a ship: as you discover new technologies, the old ones became more efficient: using less space and less power. And it was true for everything: armor, weapon, defense, engine ... It was really nice since you will choose to go to a few big weapons or a lot of small weapons depending on : - what give the most damage WHEN all weapons fire - what give the most damage against

Thanks Jaws, I foud the flaw: it is 30-days bloc until the days 150. After it is 70-days bloc. So the calculations are: Calculation at the submission the 02/14/04: bloc games raw total squared aged 0-30 days 2 120000 84852 84852 31-60 days 1 60000 60000 57000 61-90 days 2 120000 84852 76366 91-120 days 3 176860 102110 86793 121-150 days 4 148870 74435 59548 151-220 days 10 113210 35800 26850 221-290 days 4 22390 11195 7836 total: 399245

Elkabong, at which level are you playing? If you aren't playing at maso, you should be able to sell tech in exchange of Bc/turn. What are the first tech you are researching? How do you begin the game (2 first years moves)? What kind of galaxy are you playing?

I am not sure about my calculations, but since what I found a difference (only 10K and not 20K), I will post it anyways to explain the mecanism: the scores at put in bloc of 30 days, in each bloc the raw total is divided by the square root of the number of games and there is a 5% aging factor per month Calculation at the submission the 02/14/04: bloc games raw total squared aged 0-30 days 2 120000 84852 84852 31-60 days 1 60000 60000 57000 61-90
I like the idea of visible empire borders. Maybe they dont have to have a specific function other then to just section off your controlled space.
What is your definition of "controlled space"? For now, Glaciv as the equivalent of cultural border: the influence.
One other thing: After upgrading to 1.2086 today my savegame from 1.2 is kind of corrupted: Some planetvalues are lower and a number of other things seems to be wrong as well. It seems a to be a conversion problem with the save games. Please fix ASAP. I would really like to continue my current game.
Look at the link in the post #87. It is worst than a conversion problem :(
I wold like to be able to swich social projects without having to start the whole work again, as it is at military, just swich and all the wrk comes with you
Don't forget that you don't loose what you have invested in social projet :) I fear that they could lead to some balance issues with trade goods and wonder. More, I think that this kind of thing was in the first Civilization. Since it is no longer (there are penalties for switching projects) the case, ther
Terran Manufacturing. Something like 320 + 16bc for 8 months. At masochistic.
That means at total cost of 488 bc. Not sure if the two turns gained are worth the costs since they can't be used to be in deficit during more turns. It could depend on the map setting. And if you have a nice PQ 26 planet, you may want to have settle at least 1 colony in order to trigger an event on colonization. I have this thing in my current game: when colonizing a class 26 PQ, I ha
Long post, but the screenshot, for me, is revealing of the AI's behavior.
Strange, I was always under the impression that the numbers were correspondin to the total BC you have put into destibilization/espionnage for the WHOLE game and not by turn on this race.
I build Rangers simply for the fact that they can explore anomalies. So they're basically just Survey Ships that are far more effective and can get better over time as they find space junk anomalies to boost att and def.
If you still have anomalies to explore when Ranger are available :notsure:
One question what do combat transport do that regular transports don't?
Combat transports allow you to embark up to 5M people where transports allow only 1M people. They have alos better hits point and better defense. Be warned that when invading a planet, at least 1 transport or combat tranport will be disbanded
-I've been conquering opponents' planets by a)destroying defenses with my fighters, then b)sending transports. The transports seem to have very limited success -- most invasions are thwarted. Should I be conquering differently?
Are you sending the transport one after the others or Are you sending in a fleet formation? In the first case, each transport must fight they own battle when in the second each transport fight the same battle. As you guess, the outcome can be d

I think that if a tech stagnation is ever implemented, some anomalies need to be removed from the game: the one that give you 25% of the research cost of a technology [Message Edited]
