I lost a really great can opener about a year ago. This new one sucks. I still mention it from time to time to my mom; how awful this thing is and how I miss the old one. The old one was almost 20 years old... I'm trying to separate myself from things though. My current mission is to declutter and get rid of as much stuff as I can part with. It's tough.

Erma Bombeck: "The grass is always greener over the septic tank." On a recent youth workday, a kid found out just how true this was... her foot sunk about a foot into the ground... talk about stinky shoes!
I've been to church dinners with this one where a whole mess of us were supposed to bring Bananna pudding. Mine is always gone, despite bringing a great vat of it. Tried and proven! You'll need one can of eagle brand milk (or sweetened, condensed milk) One regular container of Whipped cream. One package of instant vanilla pudding mix (I use jello, o
xx.. why so painful? Red's my favorite color. I'm sorry I hurt your eyes... and I really want to read responses from you... I chose a color to distinguish myself on other people's blogs. If people don't like what I usually have to say, they can more easily avoid me that way. And if they like what I say, they'll be stopped by my color. Here's my suggestion, xx: highlight my text with your mouse before you read. It will probably turn w
Sarah... thanks girl. I've been saved since I was a small child. I just forgot to trust in him. That sucks. I promise you both, the only time a believer will ever be happy is when they're in the word daily. I hope you both are. And I hope you're outside yourselves every once in a while. The more the better. Mason -- Man, hang in there, bro. I'm praying for you. I had a friend talk to me this week. He was was so torn up, broken, distraught. He
hahaha... didn't know there was "sauce" to fried green tomatoes... a new one on me, Trina! Mason! I suggest tomato therapy... look in your yellow pages. Gotta be there... (it's okay, really, I hate fried squash.) Giggles, I hope you'll find some fresh green tomatoes from the vine and try cooking them yourself. Really, you CAN do it! I believe in you! Let me know how it goes!
Have I got an easy Bananna pudding recipe for you! Sunday dinner??? Are you kidding? That's my day of rest! But I'll cook for you saturday night... better yet, you can do it yourself now. : ) I love southern food... we eat Tex-Mex at least once a week if not more. (Supper tonight, as a matter of fact.) I have to say, outside of Texas, it's hard to get good Tex-Mex. I may have to give lessons on cooking THAT! Trina -- most people here
You know, as I wrote the article on the tomatoes, I found myself wanting to tell you to cook them to the color of a chicken fried steak. But then I heard you yanks saying, "what is a chicken fried steak?" You don't know what Sonic is either. Or that we have Dairy Queens, not DQs. But that's another matter, eh? Grab a tenderized beef steak from your
I realize many of you are yanks and it cannot be helped. As a southerner, I feel compelled to entice you with the southern delicacy made famous by a film of its name: fried green tomatoes. I want to tell you how to make them properly so you won't be afraid to try them yourselves. Yes, you pick them green. Very green. And they need to be firm. Now s
Ohhhhh, I love Ronnie. I'm reading his love letters to Nancy right now. He was an amazing writer, a real lover. I'm so sad that he died the way he did. I'd rather see him ride off into the sunset. perhaps that's what he did after all... Good bye President Reagan... our best president since John Adams....
I guess I've always been an optimist. People typically describe me as "bubbly" (a word I hate) but I am outgoing. Often, this is mistaken for shallowness. Those who know me best would never describe me as bubbly. They know that when I approach someone I don't know -- or anyone for that matter -- and try to get to know them it's because I really do care. I we
"having money isnt salvation" Mason, I forget, by the end of this thread, which person wrote this so rather than falsely attribute it, I'm just going to say it's smashing. Mason, I've read a lot of your posts and I think you and I have a similar world view. With that in mind, I have too long of a post to write you right now. I will however write an article for you. I don't share a lot of "personal" stuff but I will because I think it may he
Hahahaha... indeed.
We did... it was a blast. Thanks for perusing, Mason!
Television's perfect. You turn a few knobs, a few of those mechanical adjustments at which the higher apes are so proficient, and lean back and drain your mind of all thought. And there you are watching the bubbles in the primeval ooze. You don't have to concentrate. You don't have to react. You don't have to remember. You don't miss your brain because you don't
Yesterday I took about 50 youth from our church to Six Flags. I'm the intern this summer so I do all the paperwork type stuff and still get to be a sponsor! Our youth ministers are brother and sister. And they come from a family of practical jokers. As John & Susan would walk past people, Susan would fake the most realist sneeze you can ever imagine. John wo
Wreckless! It was meant to be! I do so hate to spoil endings. I prefer to get people excited about stuff. I'll be glad to hear which book is your favorite. My brother read the Chronicles in one week. I have no idea how... but he devoured them. Don't wait for work to slow down. A chapter a night is not too tough. When I read it aloud, I try to give the outsiders to Narnia all their proper British accents. But for Narnians (and sometimes
Oh yes. And all the lesser-intellegenced folks seem to use them.
Ooooh... good topic. I'd like to be remembered for making people feel loved and respected and important. I'd like to be remembered for wisdom, sincerity, and speaking the truth. (Incidently, I don't believe in post-modernism myself, Jess. Truth is imutable or else its opinion.) I'd also like to be remembered as a friend and someone who laughs a lot; someone who makes others laugh a lot. Someone who deeply cares for others'
I just read a really great article and I recalled my days as a payphone operator. Link I operated phones across America, some in Mexico and the Carribean, some in Ireland, the Virgin Islands, and a few other places. Basically, we were hired by private payphone owners to operate their p
Yes, I wanted to use portions of writing in colors, like for links, et cetera. But that's cool. I do think colorcoding sarcasm is a very good idea. Then there's no excuse for later saying "oh well I was just being sarcastic." Again, when wit or sarcasm clashes with clarity, one must go for clarity. That's all I'm saying. Thanks BlueDev. Also, thanks for reminding me to check your site out. I've enjoyed what you've written so far...
In summation, nature behaves a certain way and this is what we refer to as “the laws of nature.” These are not anything real, nothing more than actual facts we observe. Right and Wrong – Moral Law – is above actual fact. Besides fact, we have something else. We have a law we didn’t invent but know we should obey. What does this tell us about the universe in
You sound like my brother. I mean to the letter, that is exactly what he would have said. Even the word "crap." I'm a little dissapointed we don't have more change agents here on Joe who wanted to speak up. Maybe we do.
We are now where Caspian is getting help from Aslan. Sometimes the truth behind the books will hit me and I'll weep. She'll say, "why are you crying?" and I'll say, "Because this is just so good!" I'm glad there's some other readers out there. We may read his Sci-fi books next. Or Harry Potter. I know we'll read James Fenimore Cooper's books together eventually. Plenty of time, eh? Any suggestions for some other series?
So far, I’ve paraphrased the first three chapters of CS Lewis’s book Mere Christianity in hopes to make it more accessible – a kind of cliffs notes. Admittedly, I can spend quite a while digesting this book, extracting the meat out of every sentence. Lewis has brought us thus far to the acknowledgement of the Moral Law. This is the last page in chapter three. <BR
