Does it bother you, Koasati, that you have no comments & no ratings on certain skins you've created?? Are you comfortable with the lack of these two things? Especially since you spent lots of time creating them. Would you be satisfied with lots of downloads in lieu of not having a rating or comment? I'm just curious. <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=full&News

Same problems here.
I just may try OD again, webgizmos. Thank you for all your help & offer to help further, should I need it w/OD.
You're welcome, ButterflyWhisper.
Problems w/OD: icons too big, even for my 'mature' eyes. Altho I had OD set to stay under a window, periodically it'd pop up on top. Other times it'd flash on & off on top of a window I was viewing, covering up my right hand side vertical scroll bar and it was a bear to get rid of. I tried vertical & horizontal taskbars, and unless I used a horizontal one above my bottom taskbar, I couldn't see what I was d
IP is a Stardock app, right? Seems to me that the creator of IP itself makes the rules the skinners need to follow. Barring deleting the shortcut overlay, your suggestion of using a trans. image to replace the overlay is a good one, webgizmos.
Now I know why one certain IP theme doesn't seem to work right. One thing I noticed when I tried deleting the shortcut overlay from thje package was that it threw it out of order in the icon set. Guess I'll have to move them back in (sigh). I wonder if writing Stardock about this would do any good. What I'd like to see in a future upda
It would seem that something in IconPackager is forcing either the addon of a few shortcuts or reseting the settings in TweakUI somehow. And when that happens it is in TweakUI where I had to reset the shortcut fix. You are 100% right, Webgizmos. After applying a new IP theme, I'd then need to use TweakUI because the 'custom' box now had a dot in
I was just at the CXP page & could view everything & download if I wanted to. It's very possible the site may've been down due to adding new themes or site maintenance. I've also had this happen to me before so I just wait & go back later, and all is well again. - Of course, I see by the date & time you wrote this that it was yesterday. Hope everything is working for you now. <A HREF=
Webgizmos, I'm wondering if I made a new web shortcut to my desktop if what you said would happen. You said you went into TweakUI and the setting had changed. Did you go back into the registry & find another instance of IsShortcut? I'm also wondering if it isn't TweakUI itself causing these changes - interferring, somehow? Thanks for the heads up on this - but for now, everything's working fine.
Webgizmos, I wanted to tell you that your instructions worked! Yay! The acid test was trying out a few IP themes. No more shortcut/icon overlays! Not even a few! I don't need to use Tweak UI either - or - 'Icon Restore' to change my icon/desktop layout back to what it was, either. I hope this fix sticks, and I haven't spoken too soon. Thank you, thank you!
Koasati, you've got mail!
I'm sorry for posting here about my problem, Koasati. Your original post sounded like the problem I was having. I was trying to save someone else from the same problems I was having, is all. Thank you for your help, tho I will try your suggestion.
Clarification: When I said I had to click out about 8 screens because the theme opens in Icon Developer, I should've said that Icon Developer itself "loops". I go thru the gamut of popups to x out of - then the app starts up at square 1 and loops again. So I have to click out of about 8 screens.
I don't have SP2 installed & still I have big problems getting a Icon Packager zip to install correctly. I don't rename, but when I double click on the .ip itself, it opens up in Icon Developer. Since I have the free version of ID, I have to click out about 8 screens. Then I can click on the .ip itself, & get an error screen. So I go thru the whole process again. Eventually the IP theme gets installed but good grief, what a hassle. Since I have dialup, I am now very picky as to the the
I tried ObjectDock, webgizmos, and didn't care for it. I had problems with it - not getting it to work right - so I'm back to what works best for me: a desktop w/regular icons. I will, periodically, grab an OD icon I'd like to use for my desktop, tho.
Thank you, webgizmos, for your reply. I figured I'd need to tweak the registry, somehow! While I was reading the IP newsgroup threads, I came across one thread about when using any portion of Tweak UI, that afterwards, all the icons 'headed west'. In other words, the desktop icons were all lined up vertically at the left hand side of desktop. I downloaded an app called 'Icon Restore' (281 KB) from Download.com. What this does is once you install it, and if the icons have mo
I recently bought IP and am very pleased with it - except - I do not like the shortcut overlays which show up on my desktop's web icons. I went into IP/Settings/Window Settings and the box which says 'display shortcut overlay icons' is NOT checked & never was - I made sure it wasn't. I've tried the 'rebuild icon cache' option I have actually moved the shortcut overlay icons out of 1 theme with no success and I've used XP Powertoys Tweak UI/Explorer/Shortcut to get rid of the overlays.
tell me how to disable it so it doesn't run on startup. What I should've added is that this info needs to be in the Readme.txt that comes with WB. I am relieved that you helped me out, Koasati.
Thanks for your quick response, Koasati. Yes, I have XP. WB is the first app I've ever used that didn't give me an option to place it in startup to begin with - or more importantly - tell me how to disable it so it doesn't run on startup.
Rather than start a new thread, I have a question regarding WB startup/loading - since this thread is relevant to my question. Since it's not in msconfig/startup, I can't UNcheck it. How do I stop it from loading during startup? If there is another thread answering my question, please let me know where it is, as all my search queries turn up nothing in these forums. TIA
*Update* Paxx, thanks to your correct suggestion, I have now gotten 2 more CXPP themes to work - before your help, they never did. You deserve 'Helper of the Year' award, as far as I'm concerned!
Paxx, thanks! I UNchecked 'hide extensions for known file types', and after renaming the file to: floffy.curxptheme, I got the proper icon. Double clicking this icon installed it properly and I'm now using it. Koasati: when I rename this or any other folder, I right click on the zip, scroll down to 'rename' and type in what I want it to be renamed to. Then 'enter' and it's done. I've never had a problem with renaming before now, but I have to admit I've never done it with a CXP zip bef
Mike, I can't get this cursor to work either, & I renamed it to floffy.curxptheme. The extension still says .zip. This is how it shows up: floffy.curxptheme.zip. Double clicking extracts it, - but I don't get the proper icon I should to be able to double click & have it install. It doesn't show up at all in CXP config. Maybe I could get all the other CXP themes that don't extract correctly to work if I knew the process. Any more suggestions? <A HREF="https://www.wincustomi
Thank you for your kindness & concern, Essencay. I will take your advice.
