I was a little ticked off, Essencay, when I saw that there was nothing in that tutorial section. I was just trying to be diplomatic in my earlier response. I've been to other sites (totally non-WB related) wherein one needs to register and boy oh BOY have I ever been disappointed. Now these folks have my email address which I do NOT like. > Too bad I can't UNregister, because I'd do it in a heart

I DID sign up and found the WB tutorial section empty. I figure this is because it's a new site? I was disappointed because I thought there'd BE something in the WB tut section...that's the reason I signed up to begin with. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Pow
I have the same problem, RobbieRobb. I figured that there was a glitch somewhere - because using a default browser option doesn't work - when using SC, all links open using IE. What I've been doing more often is to use a desktop icon link which takes me straight to WinCustomize, rather than using Stardock Central. When using the link, everything opens in my default browser and not IE. <img
Thank you for your help, Bones. I just sent you an email.
Koasati: I had downloaded, in May, Skin Studio Free. Since your instructions indicated I use SS, I decided to extract it and follow your advice. I hadn't yet opened up SSFree, you see. When I went to then open the app, I get a popup stating that SSFree had expired (?) and gave me a URL to Skin Studio.net. Haven't downloaded a newer version - I'm hesitant because I may go thru all this downloading/installing only to find that I'd get, yet again, another screen saying the version
I have the 'Halloween' theme by Bones. I also have another theme with the exact same name by DotK - an older WB theme. Here's my problem. I want to use both, but since they have the same name, I can't, obviously. I've tried renaming DotK's to Halloween2. Name changed all right, contents are still fine, yet it won't work. In WB Config, I tried: 'install skin from disk'. When installing from disk, I needed either a WBA or ZIP extension, and since the old theme was alr
Thanks to you both for your quick replies. I am now off to download-land!
Is AdAware SE Personal 1.02 an update from AdAware 6.0? I have 6.0.
Thank you, Wizop Snowman. Now I know.
Thanks, sig101. I had downloaded it yesterday and was going back today to make positive comments on it. I, too, like the animals. I wasn't sure if the colors would be kind on my eyes - having bright, bold colors, but I was pleasantly surprised to find I can work with it w/o problems - and it is a quality skin overall. I hope it shows up again. I'd like to tell Gail she did a fine job.
I saw the WB skin 'Africa' yesterday and cannot find it today. It is by Gail Dix. Where did it go?
I downloaded & am using 'Fathom' yesterday. Excellent skin. Since I already have a dog, could you adopt me instead??
Webgizmos is correct. CXPPlus is $10 - a real deal. One of the features of the Plus version is that you get to use cursor trails. The default location for CXP is: C:\ProgramFiles\Stardock\CXP(Plus)- but you can install it on another drive, if you have one/want to.
Brodel311 - I, too, have the same problem you do. Unchecking the 'apply any wallpaper' button doesn't work for me either. I use Webshots for a lot of my desktop wallpapers and once one of its pix is checked, it stays that way until I change it - even when changing Window Blinds themes that come with a wallpaper. If your wallpaper is listed in control panel/display/desktop, make sure it's highlighted, then click on apply, then ok. What should happen, on reboot, is the wallpaper you
Jebland, I appreciate your help. The fact that you tried is what counts.
Jebland - I originally did extract to the Trail folder - but I'm always willing to try it again. So I downloaded another trail zip and extracted it to my CXP/trail folder on my G drive. The thing is, is that I can 'see' these newly extracted .png/trails in my file manager (Power Desk), yet when I try to access them via the config/trail/image menu, they don't show up there for me to use. Nothing changed this time either. Once I extracted the same zip to its default location
As I thought more about trails and partitions, I don't remember having any problems placing trails in its proper home on my other partition - until - I updated to version 1.30.014, updated on 3/18/04. I don't want to uninstall & reinstall CXP to a previous version - I'll just have to remember to install trails in Program Files on C, rather than on my other partition. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/image
Yrag - I originally installed Cursor XP in another partition, and the themes installed on that partition with no problem. Figured I'd have no problem installing the trails either, but I was wrong. I saw the entry in C:\Pro Files but didn't give it another thought until I tried your suggestion - which worked. I extracted the zips in the Pro Files folder. My trails now show up in config/trail/image and I can change to any one I want. Isn't it something that the themes will wor
Forgot to mention: the 'disable all' box is not checked.
I have the paid for version of Cursor XP. I downloaded/unzipped 4 trail zips and their contents show up in my file manager. Yet when I right click on my Cursor XP icon/configure/trail/image list, none of the new trails are in there to use. Rebooted 2x with no success. CursorXP Guide & FAQ no help. My Particles sub-folder is empty, yet when I moved one of these newer trails in there (thinking I could then access it via config screen), this newer trail still didn't show up in image list. Any s
Brian - your fix worked for me. Had to read it in WC's messageboard, as I couldn't even get in here to SC. Thanks!
Wizop Koasati - After asking why my thread was deleted, I came back here to my original thread & saw your response. Please excuse my additional post asking where it went. Altho this is no excuse, I am new to these boards and don't know my way around yet, or what protocol is used here. I was just so shocked that my update post was gone. Sincere apologies on my end. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/image
Thanks, Event Horizon, for telling me about the free version of Skin Studio. I had just read that one needs this app to create Window Blinds, plus PSP which I am just getting started with. All I'm doing with PSP is creating fancy OE stationery. Never delved enough into Skin Studio's info to realize there was a free version. I'll definitely download the freebie. Who knows? Maybe one day everyone will be seeing a skin by Dovelady8. Mmmm-don't hold your breath, tho, I am a slow lea
Design Caddy - I changed my font to Comic Sans (my favorite). It is nice to be able to get an alternate font and size by using WB config/settings/overrides. At least I can now see the words easier (at 20% increase in font size) and use Comic Sans for almost everything else. Thanks for pointing out the info on how to change font. I'm learning! <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.
Pictoratus - thanks for your reply. I have my status bar back, thanks to you. I also think I found out how to change the font size. In WB config/settings/user overrides, there is a place that starts out with: I want: Then there's a down menu. I chose: "I want to make fonts 20% larger". Since there was no 'ok' button to click, I exited out and whaddaya know! The menu bars (file, view, etc) are now readable. I cannot change the font type (Tahoma, verdana,
