werewolf
while this is running... are clsid's always the same from one installation to another? could I copy by documents & settings folder somewhere, reinstall a slipstreamed xp/sp2, copy the d & s folder back?
ms usb intelimouse with intelieye and ms standard 101/102-key or ms natural ps/2 keyboard. in device manager, mouse is listed under 'mice and other pointing devices' and 'human interface devices' ok will run it. takes awhile so hang in there (btw, I really appreciate this)
going to disable the creative stuff in services
I killed ctsvccda.exe also
killed...no change
gone problem remains
don't see an uninstaller...part of the whole nero package. disabled the helper service and killed the process in taskmanager. the add/remove component is just not playing nice. not loading anything.
no usb printer, no cameras, no external drives. only mouse (usb) and keyboard (ps2) are connected at the moment. USB is a PCI USB 2.0 card. Also, no extras running...no stardock apps am running in windows classic. oh the humanity. ATI Radeon ViVo 64m ddr, which is like a 7200. installed catalyst 6.5 for the 7200
yes - after
corky had a good idea with the list of processes and services running in safe mode. write 'em all down, then boot normally and disable all except those from safe mode, reboot and start enabling one at a time. a copy of black vipers site seems to be here now: WWW Link however, i'm not doing that until you've given up LOL
lol...sorry. I'm getting a little ticked of too. I pulled out all the cards of any kind, memory, video, pci, etc, cleaned off the connectors with alcohol, reseated everything.
time and date are correct imapi is not running the only errors logged in application, system, aceeventlog had to do with the machine being in safe mode.
ok..new version installed...problem remains. I don't know if this helps or not but the first sign of trouble is the windows boot screen, the one with the animated little progress bar, it takes way to long to get past that. Once that screen does go away, the screen stays blank for too long before it gets to the user sign in screen and again too long after I type in my password and hit enter
none currently active, but normally avg free za free not sure if you mean these also ? ccleaner ad-aware spybot s&d hijack this
za off, no help
ok...i see that there is an update available...but not going there unless you say so
i copied that version straight from the zone alarm free 'about' screen
turned off system restore
ok...all I installed was that reg mechanic. it gets to hkcr\ias.timofday.1 and just sits there. i updated the vid drivers, hyperion 4in1, ran sfc /scannow still mussed. will start listening to yrag... TrueVector version:6.5.731.000
tycus: ok i'll give it a shot while I'm here. just dl'd the vid drivers and reg mech. lets see what happens
yrag...everything looks perfectly normal, as far as normal can be in that mess. Obviously the svchost entries could be hiding anything, but there is no abnormal cpu usage, no extra memory hogs, no extra handles or gdi objects. everything looks normal. I checked taskmanager while the problem was happening, during the event, and still there was nothing odd going on. The only extra thing I've got running is my firewall, because without it, nothing gets out. Unless I should turn off the
going to reinstall video drivers just for the heck of it
while cleaning up I found that using the 'urge' music store, wmp cached what looks like a thumbnail of every album in their database onto my c: drive
currently in safe mode...no problems at all with explorer. so, what does that mean? there's a driver problem? I looked in device manager and all looked good.
