One of my friends decided to confess her junk food habit to me. She said, "I can't believe it. You know what I actually eat sometimes?" I was anticipating a really juicy confession, after all, we would cook dinner together and then have Hagen-dasz for dessert. So of course I'm expecting to hear something like, double-butter deep fried ice cream donuts with chocolate sauce. Or something. Then she continues, "sometimes I eat Campbell's soup."

He's lucky to have you so you don't need to feel guilty. I'm not impressed with the guy's daughter, either. Realistically, how dare they insist that their family takes precedence over yours? If it's withing the hours of the contract, well, a deal's a deal. Outside of that... I think the daughter should be kissing your feet.

You scored as JEgen Moltmann , The problem of evil is central to your thought, and only a crucified God can show that God is not indifferent to human suffering. Sorry, I don't necessarily agree that just because we hide somethings away that we are not showing our true faces. What if our true self is like a skin that is constantly shedding and regenerating itself? Maybe somethings are not so much hidden as shed off? I don't know how far I can extend that analogy. It would depend on the degree of what one hides. But I think barring major criminal activity or intentional physical injury to another...

Maybe he decided the way he would immortalize himself was to make himself the modern-day Typhoid Mary and spread his disease. What a dick-head. All he would/will (depending on if he infected people) is the modern-day Typhoid Mary. I know he has TB not typhus, but the contagion element is the same idea. What a donut head.

I think people should be able to do the laughing sneer at tender moments. Sometimes it's just so necessary. If it's an honest reaction, it's the same thing as saying you can't laugh. People eating nachos when they have hollow sounding teeth irritates me. Worse than talking in some cases. However, talking, cell-phones, kicking seats... all bad.

From the article, it seems that she also added that people should seek peaceful solutions before going to war. The student told daddy, daddy told the principal. My biggest surprise is the idea that a teacher can not have his or her own idea and still teach the curriculum. If the curriculum is about ideas and not ideology then one person's opinion should not interfere with conveying that to the students. In fact, I thought one of the points of an education was to learn how to listen t

I don't know if the problem is really about the act of sex as it is in choosing a partner. I think that with all the talk about safe sex the focus has been on the act and not on the human element of persona. Sure people make bad judgement when it comes to getting some, but what about teaching someone how to choose a partner. There's the tricky part, right? If all you have to do is explain the act (as if that's not a can of worms) then you get to avoid a lot of really sticky s

they are (in general) rude, pushy, and completely oblivious to the concept of personal space. That is really interesting. The concept of personal space is different. Way different. I've written about it before, but it's generally more acceptable to shoulder someone out of your way then to

Probably a good thing you don't have great communication skills...heh. A very good thing. Hitoshi refuses to tell me any bad words exactly for this reason. Telling her she was nosy was pretty harsh. I guess it would translate more into calling her a persistant busybody. I think it was proximity. But if I was Japanese, I know she would have let it go. She would have given me the eye, and 90% of Japanese would ignore it unless someone obvious

This doesn't happen every day, but once in a while an old (I'm guessing 70ish +) feels compelled to tell me that I'm being rude. My offenses so far have been crossing my legs while sitting on the train; having my cell phone on in the train; sitting in the section for pregnant ladies, old people or injured people. Today, my back was KILLING me. I did

I guess they could just run laps during recess. You know what is funny to me about that comment? I actually know a kid who was running during a relay and tripped over his big floppy feet and fell teeth first onto the gym floor. We were in the same junior highschool class. I can still see him falling and the upside down smile where his front teeth used to be. He was just running from one end of the gym to the other! He wasn't an especially b

Maybe we should send our kids to school wrapped in bubble wrap so they won't get hurt (and no one will get sued). Sad reflection on society, no? I'm also more than a little annoyed at the big deal that was made out of it. A verbal reprimand could have been issued on the spot ("No playing tag. Find something else to play, please.") I'm in total agreement with you.

That really sucks that your son got singled out from all the others. Maybe the other kids have created some kind of "no tag" tag technique? It's so weird. Sometimes I wonder if schools do this because of the hot-house flower attitude some people have towards raising their children. That plus litigation. Kids get bumps and bruises and it's a big part of being a kid. I think it's a big part of toughening up and not being wimpy. If I got hu

Thanks! :blushing: I'm working on these as wedding presents for my cousin. I like the light colored ones for a triptych. I got really lucky with the weather. I'm going to post some more stuff in a few days after I process them.

I just wanted to see if I could make them bigger. I'm having a ball with this stuff! I've posted the chicken photo before, but the other photos are of a Japanese dessert (wagashi) called domeiji@“¹–¾Ž›‚¾‚ñ‚²B I really like these photos because I was working on isolating an image and getting rid of the background. This was pretty easy because I had made my own light-tent out of cardboard. But still fun.
