I had a working 1.9 (with a workaround to get everything working on Vista 64) and paid a few months ago for the new beta. Except a slight improvement of stability, and no issues on 64bit installations (I mean no workaround needed) I really don't see a difference between both. Ok, this time installing from Stardock Central did work. Thanks for the tip. (Altough I tried this before and then it did not work ? Software behaves strange sometimes). First thing I did was to make a backup [e digicons]:andrew:[/e] . What I am concerned, they can take all the time they need to get OD+ to release 2.0 succesfully, now.

Messiah, please stop. I checked my settings in Impulse, and Archive before update is Checked. But there is no backup available ? It looks I was hit by two glitches in two different softwares, both coming from Stardock. Seen the status of the project, I think they (Stardock) lost their backup as well. Otherwise I don't see a reason why they can not to put that working version online again. Seen the high number of complaints here, I think it is time they (StarDock) get their act

I can not speak for the others, but I put of buying OD+ until it was reporting working under 64bit. And one mont after I paid my good money, it suddenly stopped. I wanted to downgrade OD plus because after installing the latest version from Impulse, after I lost my systray icons on my vista 64 system (what was not really a big deal), now I can not use the Start menu anymore ! or just boot into linux command line. Do not install Gnome or the like. at least you get a full fledged streamlined modern OS without any overhead running. I doubt you can use the full potential of your 4 GB Ram and 64 bit processor with DOS.

I vote against such practices. This is nothing different as the super user account in a NIX environment. Every program that has acces to system files and has the intention to change something, like the majority of Stardock programs, should first ask permission from the user. I am from Belgium, and I can tell you that here, everybody can go to the university, and if you can not pay for it, the state will help you financially to do it. The only limit is your will to succeed. In the US everybody can go to the University ? If you or your parents can pay for it, yes. And where is the difference with the Grandes Ecoles in France ?
