Why does News now show you an entire WC page, including all the links down both sides? I liked the old format much better, and I would imagine it would be easier on WC resources.

It shouldn't make any difference, but 1.0 has been out for awhile now. You may want to try upgrading to see if it takes care of the problem. You *are* talking about links in the message area, right?

Skoalman: I no longer use the Links bar, but I too noticed that annoyance in the past. I have no idea if it's fixed. I now use the auto-hiding CaptorBar, and it doesn't have that problem.

Skoalman: If you don't like Smart Popup Blocking, you *can* do it the manual way that you like. I found that to be too cumbersome, personally, and resulted in more false blocks than what I get with SPB. You're right about the MDI child windows and the third party toolbars -- those are good features. I emailed the NC author about the toolbars thing, and pointed him in the direction of MyIE2. Oh yeah, MyIE2 also doesn't have the equivalent of NC's CaptorBar, which I've really grown to love.

MyIE2 *doesn't* have all the features of NetCaptor. It doesn't have some of the built-in security features and doesn't have smart popup blocking. The tabs also don't use FavIcons, and the animation to indicate the status of a page loading leaves a lot to be desired. I use Windows-L to bring up the logon screen. I guess the Ctrl-Alt-Del thing is for those people using the Classic logon, as I'm using the new XP-style logon.

scratch - I do that in NetCaptor too, only I do my dictionary searches using "d word". "The key though is to use Ctrl-Shift-Esc rather than Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to the task list where you can perform recovery techniques to avoid having to logoff or reboot." Both of those key combinations bring up the Task Manager here. I see no difference.

When they finally make Mozilla a true MDI browser, I may be interested. But as long as it opens new windows (instead of tabs) for such things as javascript windows, I'll stick with NetCaptor or some other IE shell.
