I suppose it would be funny if the REALLY dumb races have a random percentage of trading away all their planets, but yes, the current setup will be tweaked so aliens will be less generous with their last few planets. Enjoy that one while it lasts. ;)

No, you're right, the enhanced HP of the ships should not only affect the "max" values, but also the "current" hp values. Luckily, that should be one of our easier bugs to fix. Let us know of any other odities you come across! :)
The Influence system is still in the works. I think it currently does factor in the population somewhat, but yes, the majority of a stars' influence is determined at the beginning of the game. This is so players will have to make a choice if they find a star with crummy planets but high influence. Is it worth the extra money to put colonists on a poor planet just to reep the benifits of high influence? The question becomes how to balance the game so it'll be temping to colonize low-q
Odd. We'll look into that one.
In the future, we'll need to either disable the zoom buttons for this size galaxy, or allow the player to zoom in even further. The real question is...how far in do you really need to zoom? I'm fine with the current limitations, but more hardcore players may want to zoom in as close as possible. Opinions?
The closest the window can currenly zoom is into 3x3 sectors, so if that's the size galaxy you're playing at then it won't allow the zoom feature...play at Gigantic for the full effect ;)
With the new build, so many new features were added that previous saved games will probably be unplayable :( Sorry, guys.
It looks like the invasion screen didn't work quite right when one side dominated the other side. I've fixed the problem, though, as well as fulling adding Espionage and Destabilization into the game. You can now set your Espionage to high, and when you gather enough info to always know an alien races' approval rating, set destabilize to high and see that value drop (drastically, if the civilization is already doing poorly). Some fun stuff for the next build!
Just keeping this thread fresh. We're working to get as many new UP Issues into the game as possible, and make them all fairly substantial. Many of the above suggestions are in the works, or already in the game. Keep the ideas flowin'! :D
:CONGRAT: You meen Scott FIXED this! No more votes from beyond the grave. :)
Yeah, I was playing the other day and got the same problem. We'll put in the proper error checks to prevent this in future builds.
Definatly...that's actually one of the biggest design features of GalCiv, expandability of Anomalies, Events, and United Planets Issues. The file types .ANOMALY, .EVENT, and .UPISSUE will be editable for any players that want to make their own. They can then send them our way and we'll organize and release updates. We're using pcx format for many of the popup gfx as well, so anyone with a paint program can create their own art for their specific event. Hopefully this will add to the
Traderoutes-Yes, in the beginning we were going to have a set number of max traderoutes (10), but things changed along the way and several screens may not have the correct error-checking for more than 10 routes. We'll look into this shortly. Invasions- Hmmm, past builds didn't have this problem...but I think I know whats causing it now. That should get fixed soon. Reporting Bugs- Nope, this is it. ;) The developers visit the forum several times a day, though, so any new bug
Ah, yes...the "are you sure" dialog. Ironically, that's on tomorrows' "to-do" list...so you'll have it by next beta release.
War should be automatically declared when a ship of one peaceful race destroys the ship of another peaceful race. You can double-check this by going to the "Foreign Policy" screen...the treaties screen will have a graph of who's waring with who. If war still isn't being declared, and its a reproducable situation, send either me or Cari a copy of the saved game and we'll fix the problem. Thanks! :)
I see a game submitted by Sloitair with a null serial number...so for some reason it's not finding the necessary information in the regestry. We'll look in it. Also, anybody who has saved games (with metaverse crashes) can send them to [email protected]. I'll make sure the coding kiddies get all these problems fixed in a jiff! ;)
I think Cari fixed the "messed up text" problem, but the military swap issue is still being looked into. It should get fixed today.
I'll help where I can. :) "Need some sort of help for the various screen options. "- Eventually, the advisor will give you a bit more information besides "This is the planet screen." ect. However, we don't want him to give away too many answers, otherwise players will always follow what the advisor says...What kind of information were you looking for on the various screens? "something to tell you what the choices of planetary governor do for you"- Currently, the Governors
That could be quite frustrating. We'll look into the saveing and loading code, make sure everything's working on that end.
One of the other features we've been talking about implementing is the "Ship Ranges" idea, where a vessel can only travel X distance from a home star system. This cap would be harsher on colony ships, so even though you can see the systems 6 sectors away, getting there will now take even more time. As well, this will cut down on the overexpansion issue alot of players have, where the other alien races send out massive fleets of colony ships at the games' beginning.
Yes, much of the in-game text is there as a place holder until we can go back and fully (and correctly) implement the screens. The advisor is definatly on our list, and will soon give more sensible help while playing the game.
Yeah, the songs that play will be in MP3 format, so if you want a quick fix, jsut import your own music and change the name to "space01.mp3" and it should play in the place of the other music. A built-in MP3 player would definatly be a worthwile addition to the game...though currently quite low on priority :(
Yeah. I don't think there's a game Stardock's put out that dosen't get a demo put up on Download.com (amongst other sites). However, that's a way's off, the the game's still in its early beta stages.
Odd. We'll look into that one. Thanks! :)
That may have leaked between transfering files to the drengin machine...I don't think the cutscenes were supposed to be added until later in the beta cycle. But, no, that wasn't a place holder...and you'll be seeing more content as the months progress from the art department. Right now much of their work has been on screens and preliminary character modeling. Soon they'll be in full swing making cool stuff that you'll see directly in the game.
